how do you reckon this typechart is for a monclone? i like pokemon so i want to keep it pretty similar typewise but change up dynamics slightly but unsure if any type is too strong. stats and gameplay gimmicks will of course factor in so not the whole balance can be communicated here but just seeing if anything pops out.

pest is bug but slightly expanded to have rats and general pests too
air is flying/wind together
light is fairy but more broad to also encompass holy stuff like angels
elder is similarly dragon but expanded to encompass stuff like eldritch beings, gods, etc. will have high stats on average. i think this one might need another weakness but i'm not sure

What's the reasoning behind almost every type being super effective against itself?

i can see where you are coming from and how it might be confusing, i mainly made this for myself so for any actual representation i would have to be more clear. but it is the other way around. fire resists fire, plant, and ice, but is weak to water, earth and air
