I only ever played the 1st generation and watched some of the cartoon.Considering getting back into itzWhat’s changed/what have I missed?
>>59408138Play Pokemon Emerald and Firered. Those are pretty good and enough to get a feeling of what the discussions are kinda about. Especially Emerald, tons of content after you beat the game.As for the ashnime...well...Ash won, to sum it up. But not really in the way you'd expect. Watching it all is honestly kinda time consuming: ~1200 episodes plus about 20 movies plus check out the special episode "A Ripple in Time" - actually you should probably start from "A Ripple in Time" to get a good sense of retrospective, but the show does end definitively.Giving a short summary doesn't really convey the vibe of how exciting it can unironically get.Check out the newest series Pokemon Horizons, it's a kinda fresh take on the story but the battles are kinda oddly animated, or rather really differently from the ashnime battle style. New take so it's interesting.
>>59408138It's pretty much the same as ever. Just look at the regional pokedexes and choose whichever game has the most pokemon you think look cool.
>>59408138Honestly in some way, it hasn't changed much at all. The gameplay is still the same at its core. You could start playing literally any mainline game of your choice and you'll figure it out immediately. The battling system has more depth now with abilities, weather, field effects, doubles format etc but those straight up do not matter for just playing the game. It's simple enough that you can only rely on type matchups. You don't even have to memorise the type effectiveness chart anymore because attacks will now show you how effective they'll be if you've seen the enemy Pokémon before. The games have gotten a bit more handhold-y in general desu.If you want a modern experience, play a 3D Pokémon game. If you want the more classical experience, then pick a 2D game. Up to your own preference. The anime got rebooted, Ash was finally retired (good fucking riddance if you ask me). But the new anime is also mostly for kids so nothing too exciting still. I do like that it's following its own story instead of just being a shitty copy of the game plots.
>>59408138Fuck you, bitch. You left when it got hard. You deserve zero help.
>>59408170I got a weekend job and had no time for gaming and now I’m in my 40sProbably gonna get a switch2 for the Zelda remake and hence the thread as that trailer for the new game (wind and waves) looks decent
>>59408138Just play the games and find out. Why do you want the best part of new experiences spoiled for you lol
>>59408138Games>more focus on trainers/characters>wider movepools>broad QoL improvements>modern cultural motifs>spin-offs are mostly mobile gamesAnime>Ash wonned!>Fire Bidoof used tackle on a shiny Rayquaza, it was super effective!TCG>illustration rares>playable singles are still cheap>sealed products are more expensive>PSA shitting bed, please stand byMerch>official offerings remain very high quality>high quality "bootlegs" everywhere>temu quality bootlegs nearly priced out of relevance>buy a 3D printer, become the merchantCommunity>long escaped from the protective sphere of "nerd shit">sports pros open booster packs during games>scalpers exist>by the numbers no less popular than during pokemania, but like many niches has lost much of it's "razzle dazzle"Hope this helps, welcome back.
