>Is there any move/item in PMD you think is too overpowered in the player's hands?
Any form of on demand movement speed increases.
>Which IQ skills do you find the most/least useful?
Skills like map surveyor and stair sensor trivialize exploration to a huge amount that it feels like you hardly have to engage with the game.
>Can Pokemon with weather-summoning abilities "turn off" their ability when outside of dungeons?
Tyranitar in RT ain't throwing up sand in Treasure Town (unless the devs assumed everyone would play as Psyduck)
>Do you think PMD bosses should have more gimmicks to them to make them more engaging (Like, Super's final boss), or should boss fights really just be a move/item check that test how well you prepared?
Just making them not shit themselves with a single X-Eye seed goes a long way, but more involved gimmicks like in the DX Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza and Mewtwo are more than welcomed (heck, post game bosses like Latios that don't have gimmicks feel lacking). Maybe just keep them to the postgame.

Do enemies in SMD have more HP than in other games?
I seriously don't recall it taking so many hits to take down random shitmons in earlier games

What's up, fuckers? I am so glad the long-awaited return of everyone's favorite pokemon (Flygon) is escorted by a classic /pmdg/ conversation. What a shithole. But it's *our* shithole.

And as for my contribution to this shithole, after way too long of my procrastination, Ruby and Shirley continue on their adventure to retrieve the Holy Pail:

https://rentry.org/riftwarrior/
https://rentry.org/riftwarrior/
https://rentry.org/riftwarrior/

Read it now or you're one of the three posters directly above me. Your pick if you're the one talking about animal genitals, animal rape, or the stupid schmuck who is giving them a (You).

By the way, I was waiting for the last thread to die but fuck was it was super slow. The good news from that is that at least the follow-up is nearly done with my experimentation so I should post that soon. I also wanted to say thanks for the art I've gotten from Druddig-anon and Ribombee-anon. To Ribombee: its sad to see you go but at least you left your mark. I know my writing has been influenced by your stuff and reading your stories was really nice.

They absolutely do. I don't know exact counts but they 100% hit hp values impossible for the player to hit without a ton of Life Seeds.

Enemies in Super have inflated stats to "encourage" (force) item use. Hope you enjoy never engaging with Pokemon mechanics in POKEMON Mystery Dungeon and solely using Stayaway and Petrify Wands to avoid getting one-tapped!

>>Can Pokemon with weather-summoning abilities "turn off" their ability when outside of dungeons?
I think it's more that they turn on in dungeons. Weather manipulation doesn't seem to be a major thing outside of that
>>Do you think PMD bosses should have more gimmicks to them to make them more engaging (Like, Super's final boss), or should boss fights really just be a move/item check that test how well you prepared?
i haven't played super's final boss in a while so maybe they should be more standard.

Kino, nice work anon.
Poor Shirley finally freed from his bucket prison and Ruby instantly wants to send him back to it.

I tend to not use consumables because of the what if of I might need them later and basically never used wands in SMD
At least during the story and post game normal dungeons, don't recall if there were any lvl 1 akin to purity forest but if there were I didn't play those.
What I did notice with SMD is that it felt much slower, like a 40 floor dungeon was as long as a 99 floor in the DS games time wise. The 99 floor in SMD took me a lot of hours.
>>
>>59417642
The level 1 (or 5 in this case) dungeons in SMD were terrible. You get no good loot from them, and they were laughably unbalanced. In Sacred Ruins you fight so much horseshit from the very first floor that makes it clear they never tested it. The Bellossoms you fight that early on are so powerful that they can 1shot every single pokemon you could pick, and Leaf Storm's a ranged move as well. That's not even getting into the joys of getting stunlocked for potentially 20+ turns from a Gastly's Hypnosis, or using Contrary Malamar only for the ability to stop working randomly.
The 99f L5 dungeon from Meowth's Theater was dumb in the other direction, since apparently you can just find an Ally Reviver emera and hide behind your team while they become immortal meat shields.
>>
>>59417642
The 3DS games always felt like they had these weird pauses between turns, guess the 3DS struggled to handle it. Wonder if emulation can fix that at all, I know Gates has that text speed patch.

Thanks, but you should love Flygon more, fag. Based on your wording I'm guessing you're one of the anons that worked on it? Top-notch shit for sure and keep up the good work if that's you. If not, I guess this message goes to whoever did work on it and (You) can disregard.

Also since its Ruby Tuesday and I spent so much of my free time writing since I was so excited I actually finished up the next part of the story. I tried adding music to it this time. Enjoy it or you are retarded. By the way, picrel is Mick and Rocky. They are a friends characters and he let me write them into my stories. Thank you, fellow lurker of the thread.

Hey guys. I had a really cool idea for a romhack I think.
So the premise is... what if Wigglytuff... bad? Like... he's really sick. Like from birth. Sick and twisted, crazy. He's actually just been slowly getting worse. And then what if... he finally snapped? Or rather he died. And the illness that was killing him from within took over his body and warped him into a monster. Like... a husk. He's a husk now. Husk, yeah, I love it. Rhymes with musk. Like Elon Musk. They're both sick inhumane twisted monsters. Ha ha ha. And then what if he killed everyone in the guild and treasure town? And now you need to stop him. Would this be a cool idea? Let me know if you like it ha ha. I think it's pretty cool.
>>
>>59419747
This idea is got mainstream hit written all over it.
Now you just need to find someone who'll make that idea into a hack in your behalf.
>>
>>59419954
Oh heh heh no need to worry about that. I'm something of a romhacker myself. GaySchlatt, have you heard of me? Ha ha ha. I picked a really funny, gay name so people will know I'm not pretentious or anything, just a real guy like them. You've heard of me, right? I'm kind of a big deal.
But yeah, Husk Wigglytuff... no, the Husk. By that point, Wigglytuff is gone. Even if it's his warped body going around killing everyone, it's not him anymore. You could even argue he was the first one to truly die. And the rest of the story is stopping what his corpse became and putting him to rest. Ha ha ha. It's pretty dark, isn't it? I love mature themes like that. It's kind of like life itself in a way. Just because things are all happy and cheery on the outside doesn't mean there's not death and tragedy lurking just outside your door. It could take your friends. It could be your friends. Even... your friendly friends. Ha ha ha.

Bublasaur doesn't get the priviledge of extending past the window frame.
Also, why did they choose to have Phanpy's little tail poke out of the window intead of his right ear and trunk? It gives the image a wonky perspective.

>Do you think PMD bosses should have more gimmicks to them to make them more engaging (Like, Super's final boss), or should boss fights really just be a move/item check that test how well you prepared?
One of the Shiren games had a boss that only moved every few turns to do very strong attacks, but if you moved carefully you could get him to waste his turns moving to line up with you so he could rarely get in an attack. Wouldn’t mind seeing some PMD bosses copy that gimmick.

Sounds cool on paper but trivial to beat
>>
File: file.png (2.66 MB, 3000x3000)

>>
>>59422903
The way Shiren 4 made the fight not trivial was that the boss would have pretty devastating attacks and could summon monsters, so you had to deal with fodder enemies while also trying to keep the boss's turn count in mind.

>canon fight with regigigas or slaking
You could really just reskin the fight and have Regigigas as the boss but he summons other golem/statue-like pokemon like Claydol to help him during the fight. The fight in Explorers kinda does a similar idea with Regigigas having a bunch of Bronzongs and Hitmonlees at the start you're forced to deal with while his slow start is wearing off, but having enemies summoned mid-fight that you have to account for on the fly I think makes for a better fight so the difficulty isn't completely front-loaded.

Also why the fuck did Regigigas have a bunch of Hitmonlee bodyguards? Brongzongs make sense since they're basically statues, but Hitmonlee feels pretty random.
>>
>>59424012
Worshipers? They look pretty similar.
>>
>>59424016
I guess? Only thing I can think of that Hitmonlee has no mouth so that kinda makes it similar to Regis. They probably just picked it for balance reasons though.

Anyone else miss level reset dungeons having cool stuff at the end? Like the Jirachi boss and wish in wish cave?

In Zero Isle South an Path of no Return, it's more about the Keckleon shops at the last floors than getting to the end.

And they really got the short end of the stick in PSMD, with the 99f level reset dungeon getting dissabled with an online patch, some poor balance and the big ticket 99f final dungeon not being a lv reset.
>>
>>59426649
Poor balance is right, Sacred Ruins is unplayable dogshit.
>>
>>59426649
I just remember having to use an action replay once i reached endgame because 99F+ dungeons becoming common and expecting you to grind the dungeon from 1F all the way to 99F+ every run was not worth it for the legendary just to die instead of be recruited almost every time. Even with some of the gold items that increase recruit chances.
>>
>>59426686
Jirachi is a guaranteed recruit if you dont have a party of 4 with you. Mewtwo doesn't join the first run, but always will the second time still dumb they make you rerun it anyways.

I wonder if anyone's used spinda cafe to try and do a low stat challenge run by spamming hunger seed drinks.
>>
Cheating in the hunger seed would be kinna tedious. At that point you might aswell cheat your stats.
Plus it's kinna ambiguous how many hunger seeds you'd eat, if you eat more after leveling up, plus the fact you can't take drinks during the expedition and future arc.

Some chalenges like using shitty starters (take Phanpy hero and Eevee partner) have the advantage that the shortcomings are baked into the game, and you don't have to pursue them.
>>
>>59428459
I understand from experience why partner Eevee sucks, but what's wrong with hero Phanpy?

For the low low price of not having an item, you get access to stab, which is better than type effectiveness.
You just also need to find the Natural Gift TM.

Spinda is just giga joy pilled.

Would it even be possible to beat Explorers's main story at level 1 with as low stats as possible? I imagine you'd probably need to do some cheesy shit like maxxing out evade as much as possible and abusing RNG to whittle down bosses while dodging their attacks, and then getting very lucky in dungeons.
