>>59425522So why does it feel like every time I use Guzzlord he is fucking paper but Dusknoir tanks brave birds like nothing?
>>59425519>>59425544Guzzlord can tank a lot of stuff with proper investment, but all it can really do is use ok attacks and get outsped by everything. No utility whatsoever. So, in order not to be setup fodder, you absolutely need to invest in offenses. Not much room to be tanking hits like this >>59425522. Plus, while resisting Psychic, Dark, Ghost, Grass, Water, Fire, and Electric is very nice, a Fighting weakness, U-turn weakness, and quad Fairy weakness are debilitating. Any Dark type that can't mitigate at least one of those 3 weaknesses, pretty much has no place having a defensive role (except for Ting-Lu, who just has unimaginable stats/ability and Umbreon). No recovery outside of Rest is pretty bad too and no set up outside of Beast Boost makes potential RestTalk sets unviable. The stats could be decent, but not with that typing movepool and ability. If Guzzlord was a water/something type with scald, easy recovery, and an ability that's useful defensively, it'd actually be pretty nice. I don't play much doubles, but if it was some sort of special attacker with good ally support like follow me, then I imagine it wouldn't be too bad either.
>>59425519it's funny you say that OP, dusknoir actually has atrociously bad bulk relative to how many stat points it invests in defensethe most optimal spread is having HP be X and having Def and Sp.Def be X/2
>>59425566I think Evolite Dusclops is a better comparison to Guzzlord in terms of raw stats and that is where the discrepancy is. Dusclops is known for being a tank while guzzlord can't tank shit. Also what the other anon said, Guzzlord has no recovery moves to help with its massive move pool. Drain Punch, Leech Horn, Leech Life, would all make sense on a pokemon that just takes in everything like a black hole.
>>59425519They can tank hits fine, they just don't have good recovery.Compare them to, say, Toxapex, who has Recover and Regenerator, and for good measure can't be poisoned.
>>59426425>and for good measure can't be poisoned.yes it can
>>59426455Nobody runs Corrosion, stop being pedantic.
>>59425519Guzlord takes full 20 damage out of his 60 hp, Dusknoir half it to 10, but has only 30. Both lose 33%
>>59425556>Water/Poison Guzzlord with Scald, Slack Off, Sludge Wave, Toxic (Spikes) for singles, Wide Guard and Life Dew for doublesAbsolute monster with no stat or ability changes needed.
