Am I the only one that doesn’t want to play either Pokemon or Palword due to the poor character and lack of moral of both companies? #Pokemon - i’m mad at pokemon because palworld clearly showed us what pokemon should be. In essence they have been cheaping us out for a while. And on top of that they monetize the heck out of Pokemon causing players to have to purchase their $400-$500 Nintendo systems and maintaining complete control of the monster catching franchises by throwing lawsuits left and right. This is not what gaming should be like and its sad. #Palworld- Sure your designs are a bit different but they are WAY too inspired by pokemon. Panthalus and kyogre are objectively different designs but you cannot say it was not inspired by kyogre. Some of the designs even had to be modified due to similarity. Palworld had the potential to be a great game but i cannot play it in good faith due to the lack of originality. The game play is addictive but i simply cannot look past the unoriginal designs. You should have done better and honestly if palworld was more original it possibly could have actually dethrowned pokemon. But the unoriginality destroys it.
>>59443284>doesn’t want to play PokemonWhy are you here?
>>59443292Not OP but Pokemon is only good for memes and porn.
no one fucking cares go rage bait on /v/
>>59443299There are no good Palworld memes so all that's left is porn
Palworld is better and more fun than Pokemon even the upcoming tcg is already better, Pokemon is just memes and porn and retarded manchildren
>>59443313Gf and tpc treat pokemon fans like retards, the games are for literally babies
>>59443292Im obviously a pokemon fan and always have been. I do want to play it but at the same time i don’t want to be cheaped out. Look at what palworld was able to do. If gen 10 is not better i may not play it honestly
>>59443319> If gen 10 is not better its not going to be better, just move
>none of you motherfuckers take the minecraft pill and play cobblemon
>>59443306No one has time to make Palworld memes.Because everyone is playing the fuck out of it.Give it about a month
>>59443284both are dogshit and deserve each otherpokemon is always low effort cashgrab that'll sell millions day one anywaypalworld is obviously shamelessly copying pokemon designs, there's no denying thati'm just waiting for roco kingdom and dokev
>>59443349it's wild to me that they just stopped updating pokemon quest for some reason, and only kept it alive in china (and then dropped it completely)what was up with that anyway?
Palworld should have went with a little more realistic art style. It's so weird how the humans are hyper detailed and the Pals are cartoony balloons.
>>59444940it obviously didn't make money.
>>59444949hmm wonder whymaybe it's because they only updated it in china?no it can't be
>>59443284>i’m mad at pokemon because palworld clearly showed us what pokemon should be.Like what? Palworld is an Ark clone. In what way does pokemon in any shape or form is similar to that?
>>59444953again, no idea. i'm paralel af.
>>59443284>Sure your designs are a bit different but they are WAY too inspired by pokemonA good thing. All those pokemon clones fail at one aspect to keep fans hooked, and that's the design. No one likes Cassette Beasts or TemTem because their designs suck ass and it doesn't fulfill the pokemon itch. This is why Palworld is so successful and also pisses retards off. They aren't bogged down by Sugimori's bullshit philosophy of making designs uncool on purpose or to be original, they make all the Pals cool because it's want people want and people like playing with cool characters in their video games
Palworld designs aren't interesting at all.If you truly think Palworld has nice designs then your taste of good design is just bipedal furbaits.Whether that's good or not I will let you people think about it
>>59443284Let's see at it what harm both IPs could do to gaming.Nintendo/Pokemon:>Wanting to sue a company for being a potential competitor in the monster catching genre and enforcing an technical Monopoly through a loophole with patenting gameplay mechanics, effectively crippling staples of other IPs and potential future IPs unless they pay out to them for the next 20 to 25 yearsPocketpair/Palworld:>Slightly ripped off some designs>Adjusted them over time to be a bit more distinctLike come on, it's a no brainer which side winning the legal battle would cause more damage. Nintendo getting rejected over those patents with a fangame from years ago cucking them out of another one by highlighting that they were never original with their concepts was the cherry on top.Hate Pocketpair if you want for being poorly designed or for the similarities but it's morally right to take a massive crap on Nintendo and boycotting their asses for trying to enforce a fucking monopoly on an entire genre of video games.
>>59443284Agreed. Palworld is so derivative of a lot of other games, not just Pokemon. Ark, BOTW, Fortnite, etc. A fucking Frankenstein of other games. Pokemon obviously has been shit for over a decade, that needs no explanation. If I may OP, try getting into SMT, Digimon, Monster Rancher, etc. Won't be the same but they are worth trying.>>59444990>no one likes Cassette BeastsSpeak for yourself, that game is vastly superior to anything Pocketpair or Game Freak has made in the past 13 years. Clearly you haven't played it.
>>59444849That's how long I give it until people forget it exists all over again
>>59445049that's literally what nu-pokefag spics likebipedal furbait slop with some le cultural thing attached to themand you get attacked for calling it out too, because browns are just like that
>>59445147NTA, butI don't like Cassette Beasts either purely because of the shitty battle music and plot (yes worse than Pokemon Red imo). The mons are decent
>>59445147>Speak for yourself, that game is vastly superior to anything Pocketpair or Game Freak has made in the past 13 yearsthanks for admitting you're retarded and will automatically slop up any game as long as sprites exist on the screen and your opinions aren't worth taking seriously
>>59445147>A fucking Frankenstein of other games.Idiots. Pokémon was EXACTLY this when it started. It was made during the period before videogame copyrights became serious business, when most new games were "this other game but better". And it never really stopped "borrowing" things. This is all accepted as a fact in Japan, where the references used are more obvious AND a selling point.>Verification is not required.
I agree with you on a lot of that, op. The situation for both is kinda fucked.I love palworld, I pirated the game for shits and giggles at first, but I've grown to actually appreciate a lot of the designs and the gameplay. But designs like pre-redesign azurobe and dinossom still stick out to me like a sore thumb as "yeah this is ripped from different pokemon and stitched together". And I hate the idea that some of the early designs from when it was a unity game like chikipi and grizzbolt might have actually been slopped together with AI (the CEO posted ai fakemon images on twitter back when image gen was a new and exciting thing, and all the newer designs feel way more unique and manmade)I don't think panthalus is Kyogre though, the only real similarity is the eyes.I also don't like that there's so many store bought assets and that the visual style is such an inconsistent mishmash at times. I get that they had a low budget but I hope that they eventually do an art pass update changing some of this stuff and more early designs. Though now it almost feels too late since theres merch and a card game and all that, and the look of the game is more or less solidified. But you're also right in that pokemon sucks too. Even beyond the idea of the lawsuit, the games often feel so cheap and low budget... This is probably in part because of console limitations, but also gamefreak being genuinely kinda shit. I was playing PLA at the same time as palworld and switching between them was night and day. PLA has way more polish for sure and was a more complete package overall, but it's so much more limiting in what you can do, how you could interact with the world, and just generally felt worse (still loved it though).I hope they take some lessons from this but I'm positive they won't, wiwa will be just as bad as what came before, and it'll break sales records all the same.
>>59447392I think the lawsuit itself was the bigger harm than alleged plagiarism.Ripping off designs is mid behavior, obviously. But wanting to sue a company over gameplay mechanic which can set a horrible precedent for a monopoly on a genre is infinitely worse. Had Nintendo done nothing it would've blown over but acting out in a anti-consumer way had effectively boosted the sales out of protest.
>>59447392(cont.)I think my main issue with pokemon, despite all of that, is that it's gotten too big for its own good. I should make a thread discussing this sometime, actually. It makes such titanic amounts of money and there's so many different people working on it that it always ends up being extremely safe and sterile. For example, in palworld you catch your first few pals by just walking up to them and smacking them with your bare hands. In Pokemon you can never be directly violent against them because that would hurt the brand's image, and the brand is everything. Pokemon has very little room to expand from the status quo in terms of its world and tone, and I think that's a tremendous waste of potential. I'm not saying it needs to be edgy like early palworld stuff, you don't need blood and gore and sex or anything of the sort, it just needs to not be so "babified" I guess. "Growing with its audience" in some way, even if it's for a side game. I had high hopes for Arceus but after the early game everyone suddenly loves pokemon and they no longer feel like wild vicious creatures that can harm you. You might say that's where fan material comes in, and yeah, I guess.Palworld on the other hand is still in its infancy and doesn't really know what it wants to be as an IP. They started by showing off all their edginess, "pokemon with guns haha", but now all the official material is a lot more genuine and wholesome, and only really dark in the game itself if you look. I wish them the best of luck but it feels a bit directionless from an outsider's perspective.Overall, both are good and shit simultaneously, and in a perfect world we wouldn't be having this discussion
>>59443284>palworld clearly showed us what pokemon should be>Palworld had the potential to be a great game but i cannot play it in good faith due to the lack of originalityPick a lane, retard.
>>59446770>Verification is not requiredlarping faggot lmao
>>59445240You really are coping hard.
>>59447461I've seen the Steam charts, it was practically dead before 1.0 dropped. Once people get bored of the gameplay recycled from a hundred other survival games, it'll die again.
I've honestly had more fun with the indie monster game I got off the e-shop for $5 (Monster Sanctuary) than I've had with Pokémon for a long time, since I was fairly underwhelmed with Z-A. Palworld was never really my jam since I don't like the base building etc aspect, same reason as to why I haven't gone for Pokopia. Winds and Waves looks kinda good so far though so I am actually cautiously optimistic for the first time in a while, we'll see if they decided to put meaningful content in it or not this go around
>>59447515just like ZA? and its boring royale mode?
>>59444954would be nice if the gameplay wasn't just dodge these a few times, then throw balls at it, its basic as it is like sonic bosses, hit it 3 times Boom you win, same with ZA the game was just spam your attacks on the boss while running around in a circle, someone genuinely told me there was strategy to it, when in reality its just its major fucking health bar that makes it "harder" to solo on your own
>>59447586>whataboutismIf the game was any good it could stand on its own merits instead of piggybacking off of others.
