FUCK that game.While I understand it's one of the best speedruns, the art style is really good, and it did following / riding Pokémon the best to date, the issues are constant>candies are single feed, no mass use>catching is awful, anything but excellent usually breaks out>moving catches are worse, only being undocked let's you accurately try to target>locked mew behind a dogshit Go add-on>no non-G1 evos, even in postgame>box management is far far far worse than any other game (aside from G1 and old limitations)>get any amount of chain over 11 and the sky is FLOODED with spawns and Dragonites and Charizards, like Kanto is such a weird hellhole>even more worthless rival than usual. Blue expy in a game where Blue still shows up

>>59444055I hate the catching mechanics in this game. I hate motion controls in games because they're usually shit, I feel like my balls just go all over the place no matter how straight I waggle it. It would be fine if I could just catch my team of 6 and be done with it, but the game forces you to catch to progress through gyms or if you want the starters. Also the affection mechanics suck because I can't do anything about them. People complain about it with BDSP, but at least in that I can use herbs to bring friendship down, but herbs aren't in these games, so I'm just stuck with it. Also the added characters suck, Trace is such a downgraded rival compared to Blue. With that said though, they do look alright at least, especially to the games that came out after it. The partner Pokemon are pretty cute and feel like they do more than Pikachu in Yellow did.

>>59444055I just started this a couple weeks ago. Can’t believe you need to catch over THIRTY-ONE times without dropping for a good IV mon. At first I thought I would hate this but when I locked in and finally reached that high combo it was pretty satisfying. You have to level up this way too, so I get to kill two birds at once I guess. Throwing balls was pretty fun, when it works. I didn’t realize you can throw overhand and it’s more accurate that way. However, you go broke really easily if all you’re doing is catch comboing. I rode my Persian everywhere spamming Pay Day just to get enough for the damn fortune teller and Ultra balls. Overall the games made me realize Pokemon Yellow was ahead of its time. Wouldn’t mind this style for other games. Limited movesets made team building more interesting imo. Although maybe they could bring abilities back.
