Isn't this a fanfiction series?
>>59445548The entire anime is. You’re 30 years late
>>59445548It came out before Gen 6 so yeah. Early-instalment weirdness at best.
>>59445548Should I watch it? I bet they get the episodes on their Youtube channel? I know there was a part where they skipped episodes cause of some Japanese tsunami; is there a way to watch to get the full experience if it's worth it?
>>59445548I loved how that tree swinging junglebitch Iris called Ash a kid when he was in fact a kid. Good times.
>>59445548No, it was an Ash humilation series. Pokemon 2023 is pretty much a fanfic series, alonggside Mega Evolution Special & XY&Z if you consider Alain as the main protagonist.
>>59445548Nah that's Journeys.
>>59446173This
>>59445548Nigga the entire Ashnime is fanfic. It's literally derivative work based on the games. Ash is just a fanfic version of Red. How have you not realized that yet?
>>59446224The anime is canon. The games are not.
>>59446173/thread
>>59446239Other way round, retard. The games were around first, they are THE canon. The anime is a derivative work based on the game's canon, i.e. fanfic.
>>59446274Games can never be canon to anything because they do not have a fixed outcome. The fact the player has agency means that from the moment they press their first button, any semblance of canon is out the window. Especially with Pokemon where you have three first partners to choose from and countless other Pokemon to catch at will.Furthermore, due to the need for every game to stand alone and be a jumping-in point, there is no continuous narrative between the games, making it even more impossible for the games to be the definitive canon version of Pokemon, as much as there even can be such a thing. So no, retard. The anime is canon. The games are not.
>>59446282The outcome is always the same. The details don't matter. The player defeats the evil team and becomes Champion. That's canon. Plus, alternate universes have always been canon to Pokémon, like Red and Blue being different universes. All of them are canon.AThe anime is not an original story. It just losely copied the game story. Again, it's a fanfic. Cope and seethe.
>>59446330>The details don't matter.Midwit detected.>Plus, alternate universes have always been canon to Pokémon, like Red and Blue being different universes. All of them are canon. So the anime is also canon then. Except like I say, games cannot be canon because they do not have set events and the player has agency. So only the anime is canon.>Again, it's a fanfic"The officially sanctioned Pokemon story with an actual continuous narrative and set events in a medium capable of having canon is fanfic because it just is OK?!?!"And I'M the one coping and seething?
>n-nuh, muh playtru's based off ASHYeah, not canon spergbag. Not the other anon you're currently melting down at either (I didn't have the fortitude to call you out for your hilariously brown-minded take). But since he's already corrected you and you're stamping your feet, I'm here to point out the anime went and wrote two non-canon year-long stories, to pad time before Game Freak released their next games to then allow the canon to progress. If the anime was canon, Game freak would need to add the retarded sidegame that was the Orange Islands arc (complete with shitty task-based badge reward system) instead of doing what they always did and make games for kids to play in with scant regard what the underlings then produced to market it at children every week.
>>59445952It's almost 10 years Mr F, and yet you're still complaining about Alain's win over muh Assh Greninja special snowflake formHow long are you gonna keep this up?
>>59445875>tree swinging junglebitchThat's why Iris lost in the end to Cynthia lmao
>>59446459You can't read, can you?Games cannot be canon because they do not have fixed events. Therefore, the anime is canon. The games are not. Doesn't matter what "came first".
>>59447345You legit do not understand what "canon" even means, like at allBy your logic every actual, literal fanfic is canon because it has "fixed events"
>>59445875I hated anime Iris so much.Supposed to be a dragon trainer but her Axew does jack shit the entire run of BW and her strong pokemon was an Excadrill for some god forsaken reason. Then, to actually be a Dragon trainer, she gets handed a fully evolved powerful Dragonite on a silver platter that still WINS battles despite being disloyal to her, and beats Dawn's Mamoswine despite all those issues and type disadvantage. It'd be like if Ash using Charizard in Kanto actually won him the tournament on the spot.
>>59446483She fucking won actually
>>59447345Can read fine, problem is you can't understand what you read. The anime, despite being a 22 minute long toy advert poors could access for free is not and will never be canon. Its whole existence is to perpetuate the brand weekly for kids to consume and shaped to support the latest Game Freak game on sale (which is why they're currently shilling the L: Z-A characters in Likonime). It doesn't matter what you "think" it is. You're not Tajiri, will never be him thus don't get to decide if the games are canon or the povvo option for experiencing a generation, up to the deleted the trite story of "regurgitate the game for the poors" are. Sorry this offends you, but just because you couldn't afford to continue to buy in doesn't actually make it non-canonical. just means another poor's getting uppity she's poor and the series won't stop for her.
>>59445548GenWarring.Useless.Fucking.Mods.
>>59447573>You're not TajiriTajiri hasn't been relevant for nearly 30 years now assuming he's even still alive.
>>59446477Narratively Ash's loss there is just really stupid. And then they turn around and let Ash beat up a bunch of shitters in what was essentially a casual neighborhood tourney SM so that they can go "See, Ash won a Pokemon League guys!"
>>59447644Yeah
>>59447591I like gen 5 though.
>>59447591I love Gen 5 games but its just the anime that is shit.Didn't use any of the 4 protags, thought replacing Brock with Cilan was a good idea, made Skyla of all characters an asshole, and the Team Plasma plot went fucking nowhere.
>>59447345>Games cannot be canon because they do not have fixed events.>Therefore, the anime is canon. That's not how it works. Not only does the original source material takes precedence in Japanese IPs, but the anime also doesn't even try to hide the fact that it's basically there to promote the games. The main reason Ash even jobbed in all other leagues and basically did fuckall with most regional villain organizations is because the writers wanted to avoid Ash taking the spotlight over the actual games. Before XY, Ash was just supposed to be a a normal trainer through which the audience was able to expose themselves to the Pokémon world (and more importantly, attract a newer demographic into playing the games). If you wanted anything substantial, you were supposed to play the games.
>>59447602He's still at GF. He's just a very reserved individual.
