31 and grew up on all of them. Gens 1-3 weren't that far apart in their NA release.

I can see the shitstorm most of this discussion has spawned, but I'm 31 and played Gen 1 before any others.I didn't get a GBA until I was 7 and when I did get it, I got GB/GBC games because they were cheaper, being sold at market stalls in town centre (Bong). I got Warioland with my GBA for my birthday, then bought Pokémon Red and some shitty Looney Tunes GBC game, because I loves Space Jam so much, with the money my Grandparents gave me. I got Sapphire pretty much a month after it came out as a reward for something I did at school, but I didn't like it as much and got Yellow with some pocket money a couple of weeks later. This time, it was from a proper game shop, but it was used and the box was in an abysmal state, the market stall GB games I got were pristine by comparison (probably stolen but I wouldn't have known). I played Red and Yellow through and as shit started making more sense, I eventually went back to Gen 3 and loved it for how much more expansive the mechanics seemed. Then I got FRLG the following year, Emerald the year after that.The gen I didn't play until way later was gen 2, I only got Gold during that huge gap between Emerald and DP. By the time DP released, everyone in my year was playing CoD or Halo and I was a gay baby for liking Pokémon and wanting a PS3.
