Another thing missing with Pokemon 2023 is the lack of actual rival to challenge the protagonist. One thing that made OS, AG , DP better was the rival that we wanted the main character to surpass & waiting for their final showdown. Unfortunately it pointless after 100 episode with Liko & Roy being downright unlikable and uninteresting. Even if the show introduce rivals for them, people might cheer for the rivals over them.
