So because the other thread got me involved

I decided to let /vp/ know that I was thinking about all this time. IT is a franchise drawing from pokemon however eliminating every single problem in it since nothing in pokemon makes sense whatsoever and includes inspirations form digimon and yu-gi-oh.

And this gets me started.
>>59454299
>Yeah, fuck being a pokemon. Humans are apex for a reason.

The franchise lets call it Summon-Lord is 100% human focused this avoids all the questions like
>What is a human even doing there?
>Why did the monsters not take over? (Monster rancher)
>Why did no one shoot that kid in the face? (Digimon)
>How is that kid alive and not dead from the surrounding epic battle? (Pokemon) (Digimon)

Basically in Summon-Lord all the focus is on the human characters humans are the focus while the mons are called yokai and not real persons. Basically a yokai has no mind and is something a human summoner transforms into to battle, there is no personality or even animal level intelligence. Yokai are never treated as anything other than battle equipment. There is no friendship, no bonding they are weapons to be used. Most humans get obsessed over finding a powerful spirit to transform into a even more powerful yokai. This rule is never violated. There can be some nature making the particular yokai difficult to control for some humans however never any personality or mind.

And in standard yu-gi-oh fashion people pull guns often however 95% of the time it is a bad idea since a summoner can transform into a yokai who can take machine gun fire and simply kill the other guy.

Maybe I should explain that Yokai and monsters are made from holographic matter. They are not made of real flesh and actually hollow inside more like a digimon damaging them will eventually result in the yokai dematerializing, however, none of this hurts the humans. """inside""" the yokai since during the transformation the human enters what is called a ghost form and can not interact or be interacted with any physical objects.

Because yokai can take basically infinet damage they are very useful since if you transform even if the building explodes and your yokai gets dematrialized you still can walk way from it returning from ghost form to a human. Explaining why even the crap mons/yokai are valuable for this alone.

I should explain the difference between yokai and a spirit. The spirit is something closer to digi-DNA it is basically magic code/energy that is stored in a pyramid (something similar to a pokeball) after your yokai is dematrierialized you can restore its holographic body from this code over time(basically pokemon center healing) [unintentional reference to 3D printing and the STL code?] as long as the pyramid (it is magic tech) is not damaged you can do this over and over. This means that getting your pyramids destroyed basically destroys that yokai for you since there is no way to recover it. And the digi-spirit should be transferred to a new pyramid after 800 years or so since they get damaged over time.

This means that if you find these digi-pyramids buried in some ancient ruins or in some hideout where someone did hide theirs years ago they will work as long as the digi-spirit is OK inside. If the spirit is destroyed they become worthless trash.

2/?
>>
>>59458176

-----
The nature of this transformation process makes it impossible to summon more then 1 yokai since how would you even control that? transform into more then 1?

This makes double battles impossible and also all the examples of the pokemon anime where some random grunt casually throws out 3 pokemon at the same time impossible. In the game you basically control the yokai your character transforms into so this is always enforced. If someone would manage to summon 2 yokai at the same time this would be like violating the laws of alchemy in full metal alchemist. basically not for the player character and all the characters would crap their pants how this is even possible basically that guy would be a 1 in a billion in a billion in a billion chosen among chose who is so super special and also smug about it enemy boss.

However there are natural ways and some yokai manage to have like a 2 form. Basically the yokai can have a semi autonomous summon who is nothing more then an automated drone that fights next to it. Some characters can be shocked by this(if they are ignorant) if they never did see it since most of the time it is 1 yokai = 1 body.

-----
Going back to the digi-pyramids someone can ask
>Yea why don't I simply keep on garbing more and more pyramids/pokeballs and use them?

This will not work. The easiest way to explain this is with the old style loaders the single loaders. TO have a yokai in your digi-pyramid you need to have the pyramid in a loader. You need to synchronize yourself with they digi-spirit to start building the holographic body of the yokai this takes multiple hours. You need to have your loader(+pyramid inside of it) on your body. If your yokai gets dematerialized in battle and you grab whatever digi-pyramid to insert into your loader it will not work. Since after a pyramide is removed from a loader in less then 4 minutes the holographic body of the yokai will evaporate. Since it is not linked to a human.

3/?
>>
File: file.png (520 KB, 735x552)
520 KB PNG
>>59458204

For obvious game-play reasons this prevents someone basically spamming 100s of 100s of yokai!

Hot swapping also will not work (excluding the insane supper special chosen by fate NPC ) since the yokai in the digi-pyramid is basically synchronized to your psychic. Meaning the other yokai that was being warmed up by someone else will 99.9999999999999% shatter its holographic body if you try to link it to your psychic to it meaning you need to rebuild its holographic body in multiple hours to be synchronized with your mind and be your yokai.

However because all of this is technology a new development has arrived multi loaders who can hold more then 1 digi-pyramid inside of it.

However before that I should explain that semi similar to pokemon there are restrictions to what yokai someone can have.
There are obvious grades of yokai from absolute trash to medium top and ultra powerful yokai. If you ask
>Why did this guy not get a better pokemon
The short answer is he can not, people need to learn to synchronize with the digi-spirit and build a yokai body inside the pyramid. Some people (NPCs) are simply trash and can not summon more powerful yokai, the summoning is also a skill that needs to be learned.

Humans need to be in tune or even spend a long time learning how to get in tine with the digi-spirits they have.

Because there is no pokemon type system that works like rock paper scissors this explains why some humans only use ice type or fire type yokai. Their psychic is more in tine with ice or fire yokai. Not the pokemon thing
>Ah yes I am the electric pokemon trainer!
>Because I am retarded and I want to lose every battle I am in!
>WA WA WA Why did I get annihilated by the guy who uses ground type pokemon WA WA WA me literally not understand.

There are yokai types however it is more like ice type digimon with no real pokemon style advantages over other types.

This limit is practically never present for the player character since he is the chosen one.

Also some types like demon or angel are always more powerful then the normal elemental types.

----
Multi loaders how to they work?

Basically unlike in pokemon you do not have a fixed slot space of 6 and you do not go over it because ????
>God will get angry?
>God teleports your 7 Pokemon to the pokemon centers PC like in the anime?

In game you have a bar more powerful spirits take up more space while less powerful less. So theoretically you can fill up your loader with lots of powerful digi-spirits or a handful of strong ones.

However outside of the player character who has a big space other humans are not so lucky. Some people are crap and can not manage to gold more then 2 weak yokai this explains why
>Hey why did he not bring a full team with him?
Because this is his full team that he managed to get to work.

Some people can increase this limit with training and training is important in the narrative to become a better summoner.

----
Alternatively outside of the super strong player characters there is a possibility for DLC or hard modes where you actually do not start life as the omni capable wunderkind and actually need to start your life as a limited guy who has an affiliation for water type yokai and you need to deal with this now, such is life.

Any questions so far?
/vp/ ?

I think I should explain where spirits come from and how the overall world looks like.

Digi-spirits are not animals you can find running around.
The world is divided into zones of light and darkness.

Outside of ancient ruins there are obelisks of light and obelisks of darkness.
Obelisks of darkness non stop spawn monsters while obelisks of light among other things emit a positive field that disintegrates monsters if they step into it.
Monsters are similar to yokai however they are always auto hostile to humans and attack them (even if in yokai form) monsters are made from the same holographic material as yokai and will disintegrate if their are damaged enough AKA their HP runs out. Monsters have no controlling entities inside of them they are simply these shadow creatures who are evil and attack humans. Monsters also do not think or speak only attack, more like 100% evil animals then anything else.

However monsters never attack animals, however animals can never transform into yokai unlike humans.

For obvious reasons humans since ancient times build their cities around a obelisk of light. So where do digi-spirits come from? Most of them come from obelisks both light and dark.
So like in pokemon after kids reach 18 they are made to become summoners, they are given some empty pyramids and a loader and moved in front of the towns obelisk here is where they basically try to become in tine with the obelisk and see what is basically their spirit animal.

In the lore it is that every their personality determines what the spirit they bound with will be.
In game play the player gets a choice of lets say 3 yokai and needs to chose 1.

However here is the thing the obelisk basically remember every human meaning that every human gets only 1 yokai from this obelisk and that is it. There is no professor with a lab and only 3 starters for only 3 people. The obelisk itself behaves like this.

6/?
>>
File: file.png (1.75 MB, 1432x1058)
1.75 MB PNG
>>59458279
Then the kids are sent on a journey to all the other towns to get all the spirits from the other obelisks that every town has.

Why do they do this?
Because this is the only way to increase the number of spirits in existence. Maybe the one idiot kid gets something interesting and it is better to get him moving then to sit here with only 1 spirit.

The journey is described as trying to become a Lord a official title and after doing some challenges for the other obelisk keepers you can apply for a promotion to the rank of a lord that gives you some benefits.

The entire thing looks more like hunter x hunters hunter exam mixed with pokemon. Since traveling the wilderness is dangerous because of monsters who you will need to fight.
A good portion of people simply give up on being a lord since their yokai are garbage for battle and do other things. One of the things they can do is sell the spirits they have for money. Because spirits are being sold for money and you can buy some yourself.

However here is where we enter the in universe politics of the world. Since there are unique political positions and behaviors unique to Summon-Lord. Because spirits are rare and if there are 12 towns in your country there is a maximum if 12 spirits you can get.

There is a cast of rich people who simply buy powerful spirits for themselves or hoard generational lines of extremely powerful spirits. This is not something the franchise hides rich assholes simply exist in the world like Kaiba in Yu-gi-oh.

This also means that theft of spirits is a far bigger deal then ever since it is not
>Oh no team rocket stole my pikatchu!
>Oh no I need to spend 5 days to catch a new pikatchu from the 100s and 100s of them who are in this forest!

7/?
>>
File: file.png (1.13 MB, 1280x720)
1.13 MB PNG
>>59458304

Or how insane the existence of gyarados is Magikarp is a common fish who exists in the billions in the water, simply train him up and have a pseudo legendary water dragon!

Because once stolen you are fucked. you can not ask for a replacement from the obelisk [unintentional reference to the hunter license in hunter x hunter]. This also includes some people simply hiding some extra spirits in case someone robs them (more on this later).

However I have before this spoken that not every spirit is compatible with every human especially if they are to lazy to train. This results in rich spoiled idiots who inherited shit loads of extremely powerful spirits however they lack the ability to summon them and only sit on this collection.

Another detail is that spirits are also in obelisks of darkness. This means that if you manage to fight your way to the obelisk inside a dark zone you can get a spirit out of it. And the spirits from a obelisk of darkness are always more powerful then the ones form an obelisk of light.

This also has an effect of some people hiding their digi-pyramids or valuables inside dark zones or close to a obelisk of darkness to protect them. in game explains why in these dungeons there is loot lots of loot. Also dead bodies of summoners who failed to get to the obelisk of darkness and dies leave loot behind and a corpse.

8/?
>>
File: file.png (420 KB, 405x720)
420 KB PNG
>>59458317

And here is another political idea WTF do we do with obelisks of darkness? Theoretically humans can try to destroy them. However even if destroyed the area will not turn into a zone of light only a neutral zone. While it will not spawn monsters monsters can still exist in it. Meaning that if some walk in they can create great destruction. We can destroy them however what about the powerful spirits inside these obelisks? Will we not rob ourselves of them in the future? And are monsters really a problem if we all live in zones of light?

What do you think /vp/?
Better then
>HUR DUUR water is life destroy land! More ocean!

Because the le political ideas of the pokemon world where always retarded as fuck.

Outside of obelisks there are shrines in some areas of the world that give weak ass yokai however there is some benefit in harvesting them for the spirits. Especially when the player is getting started having more yokai to battle is always important.

PS: Another example of logic is how it is explained how dungeons magically fill up with monsters.
Why? because the obelisk of darkness keeps spawning them in after you killed shit loads of them to get to t.

Why don't you destroy the obelisk of darkness?
Because other people can get spirits from it.

Let me know what you think /vp/?

HUH?

Lets see
>There is no team building/collecting in JoJos everyone gets only 1 stand
> every new stand in jojo is something never seen before VS people having encyclopedias of Yokai and more then 1 person having the same yokai.
>Yokai do not have crazy abilities like reversing time non linearly in the multiverse or whatever the fuck was going on in golden wind. Most of the time it is basic strong energy blast or rocket/machine spam like in digimon.
>Also stands violate some unchanging laws like there being later stands of a tree or animals having stands or a stand continuing after the death of its owner.
>Another fundamental is that stands are magically connected to their owner and can not be removed from them even if they switch bodies with someone else. All it takes to disarm a a summoner is to take away their loader and no more summoning.

However the representation of battle spirit is the same.
>>

>a story focused on humans, their "companions" are just instruments/agency and never acknowledged as individuals and they can be discarded at any moment
>"companions" are made out of specific quasi-physical material that gives them form. they have no anatomy, they're like models, hollow inside, made out of CODE
i'll be real, i couldn't read past third post, because after it its just graphomaniac diarrhea of nonsense and unnecessary contrarian behavior towards pokemon.
what you described, megaten did in 80s, you said nothing new, maybe just applied some transformation fetish. i can't tell what do you want, you want pokemon, but edgy? or you want your own megaten? why there's pokeball-like devices? why to limit everyone to one monster per fight? no affinities is also gay and has no proper reasoning other than
>WAH WAH WAH! I DON'T WANT INTERESTING CHARACTERS IN MY STORY ABOUT HUMANS!
>Most of the time it is basic strong energy blast or rocket/machine spam like in digimon.
ngmi
you just mixed megaten and jojo with digimon and uhh... iunno man, you clearly didn't brewed this for long enough

Yes.
I was pointing to the fact that it is more yu-gi-oh inspired where you are looking for that very powerful card and will discard the old trash.

Also you can see the same thing in battle anime where you want that more powerful transformation or move!

>hollow inside
Digimon again.

>but edgy? or you want your own megaten?
Because I was thinking about making my own ideas.

>>WAH WAH WAH! I DON'T WANT INTERESTING CHARACTERS IN MY STORY ABOUT HUMANS!
What are you referring to? The point is more like in yu-gi-oh to have the focus on the humans like lets say Kaiba and not the blue eyes white dragon despite him using that monster.

>edgy
I like things edgy.

>>Also stands violate some unchanging laws
Did I say it wrong? In Summon-Lord it is impossible for a yokai to function after its summoner died.
JoJo has examples of stands who continue after their owners death.

>why to limit everyone to one monster per fight?
Real question for pokemon why is there a 6 pokeball limit in the games and anime?
>When they fight in legal sectioned sports then ___
No NO NO why is there a 6 pokeball limit when they are fighting criminals? Why did god or the global satellite network teleport the 7 pokemon ash did catch in the anime?

Because this is a thing that happened also the anime self contradicts and have other trainer use infinite balls without .... ??? God getting angry? I have no idea.
Because this happened
https://youtu.be/3l1lSNQxJA0?t=255

>why to limit everyone to one monster per fight?
Why not? You can realistically only operate one car at a time.
>>
>>59458410
>and unnecessary contrarian behavior towards pokemon.
Others pointed out that nothing in the games or the anime makes any sense whatsoever. There are 100s and 100s of examples of the games or anime making no sense.

It is a general thing people complain about in all kinds of franchises.
>>
>>59458496
>JoJo has examples of stands who continue after their owners death.
because user's agency continues to exist

>Real question for pokemon why is there a 6 pokeball limit in the games and anime?
max optimal number of pokemon to take care of. it was answered in manga. sure, go on, feed and clean 30 different animals

>Because I was thinking about making my own ideas.
>thinking he can invite something new in 2026

>What are you referring to?
okay, i re-read it, now my complain is that you just said the same thing, but now
>uhm, humans have AFFINITY to element, not because they're autistic about it. THAT'S TOTALY DIFFERENT

>Why not? You can realistically only operate one car at a time.
will god smite me if i try to use two?

i guess you're one of those chuniis, who think if they get issekaid into pokemon world, they will become god tier trainer because of MUH SMOGON
>>
>>59458536
>max optimal number of pokemon to take care of.
Who exactly did teleport the 7 pokemon from ash in the anime? And how?
>will god smite me if i try to use two?
LOL XD.

That is how the game was designed. I do not understand why this is a source of drama. Basically trying to do that gives no results and leaves you without a transformation. In contrast the anime has literally .... (??? god???) ... (the global pokemon surveillance network???) ... teleport his pokeball away and every other character is like
>Hey did you not know that pokemon trainers can only have 6 pokemon???

That is surreal considering that in the anime there are examples of people having more then 6 pokemon. IT is a ball that you throw.

>sure, go on, feed and clean 30 different animals
How about 7 or 6? Daily reminder that others also asked by others especially the criminals do not have a full team.
>>
>>59458544
>>59458536
>will god smite me if i try to use two?
Basically nothing will happen. In the lore if you try that nothing will result. You can try to do that all you want in your free time over and over and over however trying to do that for the first time in a real combat situation is simply suicide.

>will god smite me if i try to use two?
something like this
https://youtu.be/LZnfqkAWdJ0?t=18

Did I mention that summoning is a hard skill to learn? Like it actually requires lots from the summoner. That is the lore the game gives you a wounderkind as the protagonist and abstracts lots of this away.
>>
>>59458544

I like to thank you for this conversation because I like to see someone else challenge my ideas.

to elaborate since it is basically a transformation there are 2 options
1) While a human you transform into 2 yokai at the same time
And this results in nothing, lets imagine that what exactly are you going to focus on here?

Lets sea you chose a sea dragon and a wolf. Into what do you transform? The wolf? The sea dragon? A hybrid of both???? From a conceptual level you can see the problem here.

2) Transform into the other form while already in sea dragon form.
So you are a sea dragon. What do you imagine now? You try to also become the wolf? Without switching to the wolf? And keeping the dragon?

I think you can see the problem here. The concept itself does create problems.
For reference how do you imagine a transformation like this looking like:
https://youtu.be/Gb_Pn584bTw?t=57

To bad. I was looking forward to a nice conversation on the subject.
>to use pseudo-legendaries and 6iv OU mon
Straw man I see!

The point is not that the grunt dose not have pseudo-legendaries the point is that they do not have a full team. Like can they not catch like 4 more Rattata? I mean even a full team where the rest are trash lets you wear down your opponents. Did the boss not pull his grunts over and say
>Hey look here is a brilliant idea go into the forest and catch trash pokemon until you have a full team of 6
>And here is a pro strategy start with your trash pokemon to wear down your opponents.

Actually forget the Rattata what if they catch poisonous bug pokemon and use poisonous moves? I mean hitting that poisoning and doing some damage before you send out your main pokemon is a good idea.

>numbskulls
Hey you failed to explain what even happened in the anime there. Like who is doing the teleporting?

As for politics the digi-pyramids create potential for political standpoints

Since most of them are functional after a human dies. Normally they are inherited by the closest family. However keep in mind there is a permanent underclass of looser who only got shit yokai from their adventuring journey. Their only options is doing something else then being a summoning lord for a living, finding powerful digi-pyramids, stealing someone powerful digi-pyramid and hoping to get away with it or hopping someone will sell a extremely powerful digi-pyramid for cheep. There are examples of powerful digi-pyramids getting sold since the inheritors can be total spoiled ids who are more interested in doing nothing all day and have no summoner skills. However all powerful pyramids are immediately acquired by various people be it powerful lords or simply wealthy traders.

There is also a good portion of lords who despite being unable to summon from this pyramid will buy it. Some hoard powerful pyramids while others go one step further and destroy any pyramid they can not use.

The question shows up what to do with pyramids after the owner dies? Some have proposed that the government should take possession of these pyramids and redistribute them (somehow). Other have proposed that selling of pyramids should be illegal.

The proponents of the status quo pointed out that banning inheritance can simply be unenforceable since a summoner can hid his pyramids and his child pretend like he found them or that he got the spirits himself.

What do you think /vp/?
