I need to get the original artwork card as well at some point.I've reached my spending limit for now.
>>59460161Are there any other people itt who live in Japan?I remember about a decade ago there was a guy on /vr/ who lived in Japan and helped export cards to people who wanted to buy stuff from Japan. I wonder if there would be any value in me doing anything like that if Buyee and sites like that already exist, but living here now it's actually kinda wild how much extra those third party services charge you for trivial shit. I get the charge for international shipping but damn it's funny how I can buy booster boxes here in JP for only slightly more than they used to cost in 2016-2017 when I used to import to the UK using nin-nin. pic unrelated part of my old collection circa about 2018 iirc
>>59460418Unless you know someone who can cut costs on transportation, importing from Japan is super expensive. That's why small reseller businesses just fly to Japan, load their luggage with stuff, and come back with multiple suitcases full of items to sell. I don't know how much import is taxed in the UK, and you have to take in consideration that there is a lot of issues with the postal service in Japan, which limits what type of parcel delivery you can pick still this depends region by region. The good thing about cards is that they are lightweight and occupy a small amount of space, so it already reduces the costs. I always thought about why not open similar hobby stores that they have in Japan in my country, but unless you know somebody on the other side, I think it's not feasible. Even better if you manage to cooperate with another store in Japan
I haven’t collected in years, is this worth anything
>>59460450Yeah probably hundreds of dollars.
>>59460450not really, 10s of dollars at best
>>59460450I cant believe they used to make cards like that Misty. Nu-Pokemon could never.
>SM to SWSH era is years oldDamn that went by fast
>>59460485Yeah there used to be a rarity just for trainer nudes. And they didn't pull any punches either, I remember that full frontal blaine card and it was always a running gag amongst my friends in school you'd offer it up in a trade and the other guy would be like wtf get that out of here, haha good times. nowadays they've scrubbed most of these from the internet, you won't even find pics.
>>59460418If you do end up picking up cards for Anons would you limit it to Pokemon exclusively?I know a lot of people would appreciate your services.
>>59460450Cute Mimikyu want to trade for it?
>>59460418Would you just proxy stuff from Mercari or also scout physical shops in niche areas outside of the tourist traps Akihabara/Ikebukuro/DenDen?
>>59460450Wtf Japanese version of Teammates is a $200 card ungraded.
>>59460278For her pleasure
Chinkino
My Lapras came today. And some other stuff.
opened a bunch of korean packs
Imagine getting this mad.
>>59461304why?
I just pulled the cards from my childhood binder and they’re minty af, gonna get them all graded even the damaged ones.
>>59461345i am not very intelligent
>>59461347Good luck anon, don't forget us when you become a millionaire.
>>59460418I used to have a jpn goods hookup guy but he more or less stopped a few years ago since he's too busy. Can't blame him honestly. He helped me a lot with netprints too which was really sweet of him. Now I need him more than ever for Pokemon cards...
>>59461268Top middle is pure sex
>>59461347Post some of the coolest cards
>>59461268Highly distressing stuff, anon!>>59461377You too.
>>59461336I don’t know what any of this means
>>59461304I knew Korean had low print quality like English, but I didn't know they also had yellow borderslop
>still buying modern
>>59461444>still being basedLove to see this after my two+ year absence.
>>59461444>>59461490How does this one card hold so much power? Look at how the thread revolves around him.
>>59461516There’s no accounting for it, and the legion of imitators simply haven’t got “the sauce.”Incidentally, a couple years back I was going to buy this card strictly for the meme. At the time, I didn’t want to spend ~90 bucks for a stupid meme card. Now it’s selling for over $1000 in PSA 9? What the fuck, man. But then raw or in a 7 it’s hovering around $100. What kind of retard voodoo is at work here?
>>59461268do you live in japan?are rush cards expensive?
Mail day, some cheap and cheerful shinies Also, where did all the shiny cards go? The gold shiny cards were pretty cool, in retrospect. Will we ever get non-Fates shiny cards again?
>>59461408Korean got the worst of both worlds, that's why Indo and Thai are better
What’s the most Chinese card and/or pokemon?
>>59461586Naw, I wish I lived in Japan. I just have mail month with a bunch of different orders combined together instead of mail day to keep shipping costs as low as possible. Rush is like any other active card game in terms of pricing. The most expensive cards are the full arts (Over Rush Rare), with Dark Magician Girl's being the standout, and some tournament promo cards like Dimension Linker. Everything in pic related was buck or less each except the $7 Over Rush.
>>59461632where do you buy them? ebay?
>>59461639Japanese card shops, mainly. Yuyu-Tei and Cardrush are my first choices. If what I want isn't in stock there, then Mercari or Suruga-ya.
>>59461645What forwarder do you use?
>>59461657Buyee only because it's easier to use than others. Their shipping is insane currently if you're in the US but that's more because this country sucks right now.I hope to see you post some cool pickups in the future after all these questions.
>>59461551I actually boughted it for the meme around the time of prismatic gayvolutions, no regretsreposting old pic
>>59461667I used buyee a long time ago so dont remember, but how do their fees work again? Ive used zenmarket more recently, and their minimum fee of 300 yen makes cheap cards feel not so cheap anymore.
>>59461128But China already had this very card in a set didn't it?
>>59461742It's a 500 fee yen per order. It still works out to be cheaper than buying on eBay, TCGPlayer, etc if you order a whole bunch of cards at one store. If you're only going for singles then TCGRepublic is probably best.
>>59461268fellow aquarian age and super monster collector
>>59461304I like the Lilleep.
>>59461910One million dollars
>>59461892Those old and simple Nonaka Toshiya illustrations are incredibly charming. There's equal amounts of effort put into the creatures and the backgrounds.I don't have any of the cool monsters currently. They look very cool but I elected to focus on the cute girls for now.Cute girls seems to be the only thing Aquarian Age has going for it, though.
I love big orders.
>>59462118What are you going to do with all that stuff?
>>59462136It's all needed to fill up my binders.
>>59461390"Temporary" facial recognition is going to be implemented at some stores in Japan to try and drop people from re-entering to bypass purchase limits.https://www.pokebeach.com/2026/07/japans-official-pokemon-card-stores-to-require-facial-recognition-for-entry-and-tcg-purchases>Customers who wish to enter the stores must consent to facial recognition and will receive a numbered entry ticket. The system will verify that each customer only receives one entry ticket per day. If it detects that the same person has attempted to receive multiple tickets or enter the store more than once in a day, staff will deny entry.>The new measures are intended to prevent scalpers from circumventing entry and purchase limits.Preschoolers are thankfully exempt but it'll save facial data of elementary aged kids and up, which I find unsettling.
>>59460418Only extremely kind friends would be willing to do that kind of service. You have to pay them hefty regardless because of how payments are done on jp side. Buyee and other proxy services are so streamlined and cheap you might as well just stick to that. Buyee is still the only proxy service that actually buys listings immediately, its why they have such a massive monopoly on this shit.
>>59462118Very nice, anon, but… where are the cool cards??
>>59462168Remember when this was just a regular hobby and not a get-rich-quick scheme for celebrity scammers and the unemployable?
>>59462232Just these 6
Lillie has officially been DETHRONED as the ultimate chase Waifu. May I introduce you all to the NEW QUEEN: MORIKURA LISIA SIR!
do you guys have any nice cards that are extremely off center too?
>>59462298Well done well done...HOWEVER
>>59462309That's not extremely off center. This Hungry Snorlax is quite much off center.
But I don't worry too much because I have another copy sealed.
>>59461268Person of great taste
>>59462168How can a system like this work in Japan? All Asians rook the same
>>59462309this ink error mewtwo
Do you guys have any sealed packs
>>59460450waifu cards are worth hundreds, that lillie alone is half your entire collection
>tfw collected base set up until gym heroes>started buying up 151 when it came out>also cynthia and other waifu cardsi bet my boomer cards are worth jack outside of charizard
>wanted to collect my champions team full arts>half of them either don't have full arts or they're the ugly 3D renders>the ones I don't have are brand new or the only good full art is a waifu card and more than I'd want to spend probablyI guess I just won't
>>59462687Just collect your favorite cards of each
>>59462702That's what I'll probably do with most, but damn Delphox has zero good cards. Hopefully there's one in that mega ray set. At least there's the Fennekin promo

>>59460450>humblebragging
>>59463066>humblebragging>a handful $10-20 cards ????Surely anyone who’s been in the hobby for more than a few months would be able to put together a more impressive spread.
Does anyone else do little “odds and ends” pages? I had 8 free slots between Jungle and Fossil, so I filled it with odd novelties. The two different prerelease Aerodactyl cards. Some no-symbol Jungle holos. Cereal Meowth. That oddish I found in the grass one day while biking to class around 2016, and it’s what brought about my re-entry into the card collecting. I wonder what it was doing on the ground there.
>>59463110I have a whole binder for that.
I am once again urging you to look at your old WotC holos in the sun’s brilliant light.
>>59463129Shamefully, the little hallway leading to my kitchen remains the best lit spot as far as card viewing is concerned.
There's apparently going to be another 30th product drop on the Pokemon Center vey soon.
What's the best toploader binder?
>>59463133>>59463129>>59463110i want to complete the old wotc set, is ebay my final destination?
German Pokemon Center droppray for me bros
>>59463209Like Base Set or all of WotC from Base to Legendary? In either case, I’ve been pretty well out of the game for several years. I completed base-fossil 1st ed before COVID, and I’ve just kind of periodically picked up vintage stuff as the whim took me. I do use eBay, but looking now, I think there are very few “deals” to be had. Even auctions, which used to be a fairly reliable means of obtaining cards below market price, have gotten out of hand. The last few I’ve bid on have all ended up above some equivalent “buy it now” lots (which makes me wonder, why even bid at all?). I don’t know, I don’t understand the hobby right now. Everything’s just a grotesque, irrational frenzy. Pic semi-related: my most recent pick-up from eBay. Almost certainly overpaid, but I liked the holo pattern. Some scumbag sold me a PSA-9 three years ago (for less than half what I bought this 8 for), and then just never shipped it. I got my money back, but I’d have preferred the card. I’m still butthurt about that.
>>59463255just base up to gym heroes since that's when I stoppedstill have some of my old cards in lp to mint condition, don't have near mint onesi keep hearing how tcg collecting is overpriced and hell now thanks to investorchuds i was hoping that they steered clear away of boomer cards save for charizard
>>59463252Good luck, Fritz.
>>59463256I think most unlimited cards are still reasonably affordable, where 1st editions have like tripled in price lately. If you’re looking for a binder set or something, it might be easiest to keep an eye peeled for PSA-7 auctions. Lowball those and maybe you’ll get lucky from time to time, then just crack the case and put the card in your binder. Also, man, team rocket had some of the best illustrations.
>>59463318my base set to fossil are about 80-85% complete with all of the main rare cards already with meit's the johto and team rocket ones i have huge holes, i do have multiple tyranitars and umbreons though but only one houndoomwith the gym leaders i only have completed erika, giovanni and blaine; i have 4 blaine charizards
every nice mew card is stupidly expensive now
>>59463320>my base set to fossil are about 80-85% complete with all of the main rare cards already with meWell that’s a mercy. I get the impression that, for most of these old sets (especially pre-Neo), there are really one or two Big cards per set. Might be wrong, I don’t keep an eye on the prices of things I already own, really. Good that you’ve got things like Charizard and Umbreon locked down already. Do you collect unlimited or first edition? If you’ve got a 1st ed neo umbreon (or Lugia or whatever else), you’ve got some pretty impressive cards.
>>59463329>Do you collect unlimited or first edition?bothi have machamp, entei and ho-oh 1st ed but the latter two are mint/lp at worsthave some promos and 2 complete southern islands sets as well
>>59463332Entei and Ho-oh are big 1st ed gets. I haven’t got either in my collection (and it’s looking increasingly like I won’t ever add them). For Machamp, do you mean the base set Machamp? If so, all of them (even shadowed cards) were printed with 1st edition stamps, I’m afraid.
I heard that if you go out finding WOTC stuff in card cons you'll be priced out by turbojewish sellers, you're far more likely to find cheaper waifu cards in comparison
>>59462853>It was created for an article in the Japanese publication Illustration and was not released as a physical card.FUCK. OFF.It looks so cool. Reminds me of Baphomet.
You guys do have the original waifu cards, don’t you?
>>59463422Is there a point to graded non-10s?
>>59463434Authentification and protection I guess
>>59463434theyre cheaper
>>59463365upon checking my old binders7 unlimited charizards (1 mp, 1 lp, 5 mint/at least 2 close to near mint)4 unlimited blastoise2 unlimited venusaurs2 shining magikarp3 shining gyarados2 shining tyranitar1 shining mewtwo2 shining noctowl2 shining kabutops1 shining steelix4 tyranitars6 umbreons (neo discovery, 2 rares)1 houndoom (neo discovery)2 lugia (the psychic one)4 ho-oh (3 fire ones and 1 normal)complete erika set (5 venusaurs, 2 victreebels, 4 vileplumes and 4 dragonairs)complete blaine set (4 charizard, 4 arcanines, 3 magmars and 3 ninetales)complete giovanni set (3 gyarados, 3 nidoking, 4 nidqueen, 4 persian, 2 machamp)2 complete sets of southern islandssome promo cards including pichu, snorlax, legendary birbshave all of the johto starter lines at 4 each
>>59463434I’m not totally sure what you’re asking, but I can explain why I own 90% of the 8s and 9s I do.Back when I bought these, 8s and 9s sold for about the same price as raw “near mint” cards. At the time (and this might still be the case today), Brain Geniuses would buy up any decent looking raw card at ludicrously inflated prices expecting it to grade a ten and octuple in price, and so there was a lot of demand for raw cards. Of course the condition of these raw “near mint” cards was never reliable, and sellers would judge condition differently or obscure scuffed holofoil or sell you an altogether different card than what was pictured in the listing, etc.So I bought a bunch of 8s and 9s because they were about the same price as the equivalent raw cards (sometimes cheaper in the case of 8s), but the condition was far more consistent. Some I broke out and slapped in a binder, some I’ve just left (though my ultimate preference is for non-slabbed cards, believe it or not). I also bought up shitty off-brand graded cards for the same reason.
>>59463490That’s some good shit, anon. I’d love to see some pics if you’re interested in sharing.
>>59463434For a good while you could get extremely clean cards graded 8/9 for less than raw. But the market ended up realizing that was retarded so now even vintage 8s hold a premium over raws. Which makes sense because at this point there are no true NM raw vintage cards being sold as most are either already graded or raw nm/mint in a collectors binder who will never sell.
You guys do have your Chinese exclusive Radiant cards (and Charizard), don’t you?
>>59463557I'm not a fan of tofu
>>59463490Splurge on premium sleeves/toploaders/binder and never bring any of this to any card con/show/sale if you don't want to get mugged.Just take photos with your hand and timestamp if you want to brag about it to sellers/vendors/online.
>>59463560Not even mapo tofu?
Raikou mogging the mega fug
>>59463578Rear leg is kinda wonky, but otherwise pretty great.
>>59463495Holy shit a based MNT appreciator! A real underrated grading company.
>>59463557Why do you keep distracting us with your terrible art in the background?
>>59463110My entire binder is like that. Filled with cards of any rarity personally enjoy looking at organized in pages of brambled autism.
>>59463876Well, it’s Chinese, so I thought it was appropriate. You don’t like it? I carved and printed it myself. It’s a very different style/genre from the other art I’ve posted, and even those prints come from different artists working maybe a century apart, so I’m surprised you’d take issue with every single piece. What don’t you like about them?
>>59463079Where can I find that Mimikyu for 10-20 dollars?
>>59463974Internet
>>59463981You're a filthy liar!
>>59463983That's cute.I like it.
>>59461892>>59461977excuse me what is this series?I searched the artist and "super monster" and couldn't find anything. "aquarian age" seems like a separate game that is way more modern?I'll be going to Japan next month and I'd like to know what these are all about.
>>59463580Why does it look off? Almost bland even. And its drawn the person who did the god awful Pikachu for the illustration contest.
>>59463935I think your art is very cool anon :)
>>59463987It's from a card game spinoff of the sequel to an old NES/Famicom game called Kaiju Monogatari. The particular card game is DAI Kaiju Monogatari: Miracle of the Zone.If you end up getting some during your trip try to find the old metallic tournament prize cards, as those are the rarest and a unique addition to any collection.
>>59463999Sigilyph is cool I always have it in my team.My Pokemon Black team was Sigilyph, Serperior, Darmanitan, Jellicent, Eelektrik, and Chandelure.
>>59463557I would never ruin my collection by including ch*nese cards
>>59464071What is the best card you ever saw was Chinese?
>>59462309Not anymore. I traded it.
>>59463984Only Lillie and Cynthia cards are expensive...then the next tier are Misty and older full arts.
One of the best looking trainer card in a while and its Zinnia. At least it will be cheap.
>>59464112None. Even if the art was amazing, its still ruined with dogshit chinese.
>>59464152Acerola is decently expensive too.
>>59463580congratulations faggot pokemon for not giving your best artist (shinji kanda) this card to draw for us!
>>59464182Come on, you could just pretend it’s really, really kanji-heavy Japanese
>>59464206It's drawn by one of the illustration contest winners. Pretty cool of Creatures to give them such a high profile card.
>>59464152I didn't say anything about that so I don't know why you're bringing it up.The other guy said Mimikyu is a 10-20 dollar cards and I posted proof that it's not.
>>59464206Schizophrenia is an interesting art style but Pokemon's only good artist right now is Uninori.
>>59464232Your picture literally shows it as 99 cents, fella. What are you even talking about? It’s maybe the cheapest card in the lot
>mega rayquaza revealed>Kyogre and groudon too>It looks like shit Ez skip
>>59461268Nice cunny cards anon
>>59464180Will go Perrin and Parasol Lady tier then prices will come downMost scalpers don't care much about waifu cards and even find them weird, only seasoned collectors do and waifufags grossly inflate the price
Haven’t bought modern in three years. Is card texture still fucked in the west or have we finally caught up to the Japanese? Wondering if I should do English or Japanese for the 30th throwback subseries
>>59464303The English texture is shit, but Japanese 30th now uses the shitty international stamp.
The new S chinese Lissia SAR is also available in Thai. Any thaianons know what product it comes in?
>>59464303still fucked
>>59464325>>59464320That’s a shame.
>>59461268Subhuman pdf.
>>59464472I dont understand why idiots like you post modern psa 10s. Its a sign of low iq.
>>59464484I consider it a sign of high IQ.
>>59464484I thought boomer PSA 10s are lower value.
>>59464554Depends on the card. But modern PSA 10s are a bit of a meme because new product is widely available, better preserved, and instantly slabbed. Whereas a 25-year old PSA 10 is somewhat meaningful since boomer cards are all beat up (children’s playing cards weren’t primarily considered an investment tool back in the 90s and were played with and brutalized). PSA 10 is just the expectation for new product, whereas for vintage cards, it represents an exceptionally preserved card. But what the fuck do I know? The market is totally irrational and people will pay 4x for a modern 10 than a 9 (even though a brand new card is far more likely to grade a 10 than a 9). Wasn’t it only 1.5-2x just a few short years ago?
I like this texture
>>59462525>>59464295>>59464446Thanks. They're fun to display.
>>59464679Whycome it gots all that texture
>>59464263An auction is when multiple people compete with each other by placing "bids" in increments to purchase an item instead of outright buy it at a flatline price. Auctions have a set time until no more bids are allowed to be placed. This encourages hasty decision making, with items usually coming close to or surpassing their market value.
>>59464739CopeIt’s literally 99 cents
>>59464735Masterball holo anon.
>>59464767Oh I didn’t know they had crazy texture now
>>59464759Extreme cringe and extreme basedThe duality of man
>>59464767Do all new sets have masterball variants for common cards? Or just certain special sets?
>>59464836Only terastal/prismatic have these texture anon. The newest one is the flat holo that first appeared in chinks set
Is Holodex a scam?
>>59463935very nice carving bro, good to see other collectors doing creative stuff
>>59461977check out moncolle for cool monsters and girls too. But don't skimp on monsters, girls only is gay
Now that Pokemon is widely available at MSRP, where are all of the people bitching about product?
>>59465342Right here>>59465342
>>59465349Shitposts like (yours) just emphasize it was never about availability, but it was about profit.
>>59465356You call pokémon cards "product" like a pencil pushing faggot. Profit is all you think about. Post your modern collection and fuck off back to rebbit.
Went through some old cards I found and the most valuable was this one which seems to be fake but it's a well made one except the border, even passed the light test (see how opaque it is) which none of the other fakes I found did
>>59465457>well madelolno
>>59463580like most other chase card SIRs, it's just too busy. the artwork itself may be cool, but these usually don't translate into attractive looking cards. won't stop it from having a thousand dollar value obviously
>>59465328>>59465312Thanks, anon. Cool bugs!
>>59465525Anyone thats actually trained in graphic design must absolutely hate working for the TCG now. They're such a fucking mess but retards love it.
>>59463129I used to be a vintagefag. I still am for Yugioh and MTG. But the new SIR (especially Japanese) just mogs old Pokémon cards so hard
Holy fuck it looks so ass lmao
>>59465643looks kino actually...why seething hmm?
