Not quite sure what happened to knock us off the board so quickly, but we're back.

It's looking a little rough, not gonna lie. Jupiter and that Skuntank of hers are pretty common to lose someone at, but Fantina is a challenge even in the best conditions.
>>
I wiped to a Cubone because the Wooper I hatched was under-leveled and Flaafy got Cubone to 1 HP before dying. I did multiple attempts but my most recent one just ended:
>encounter bellsprout
>totodile attacks to weak it (it's my first encounter)
>vine whip does over half of toto's health
>WHAT?!
>switch out to spearow with yellow HP
>spearow will be sa— *dies to critical hit*
sometimes I wonder if the curse is truly broken...

yeah, that was weird. I posted multiple times right before it happened too.

Today has been difficult for my HeartGold nuzlocke but I did fine I guess.

My current team:

>Bayleef
>Geodude
>Flaaffy
>Machop
>Fearow
>Zubat

Pokemon in the box:

>Ratatta
>another Ratatta
>another Spearow
>another Zubat
>an Egg

Pokemon in the daycare:

>Eevee

Pokemon that are dead:

>Drowzee
>Spearow

I unfortunately lost a Drowzee that I just caught and I did lose my main Spearow but I did immediately replace it with a higher level Spearow named Kenya from an NPC and I also took my Zubat out of the daycare.

As for the Goldenrod gym battle against Whitney, she was easy, Machop handled her Clefairy with one hit and did take a few Stomps from Miltank but Machop won.

Any advice for the next gym leader Morty? I have two pokemon that know Dark type moves but will it be enough?
>>
>>59478758
Fearow using dark-type moves is a waste of time. You’re better off using a good STAB move against Morty. Don’t forget to equip a Chesto Berry to the guy who will fight Morty before the fight, if you have one.

Doing a my first ever playthrough of Sword blind as a nuzlocke with some extra flair to make up for the difficulty hole the new games make.

>Classic Nuzlocke Rules
>Randomized Encounter Pokemon (only NU and lower for Gen 8)
>Can grant 1 egg move on capture
>Randomized Abilities
>Hard level cap to 1 level below Gym's ace.
>Only dynamaxing when dynamaxed against

Made it through the first 3 gyms with a pretty good pace. Evolved my Eevee into an Espeon instantly with happiness running, Ralts into a Gallade with Dawn Stone from dugging bros, Nuzleaf into Shiftry with the field leaf stone. With it being randomized abilities, I've gotten some actual killer builds

>Fur Coat Lickilicky
Tanks so much fucking damage and heals off with leftovers
>Super Luck Galarian Rapidash
Autocrits on Psycho Cut and Drill Run. 50% chance on Play Rough and Double Kick.
>Grassy Surge Shiftry + Miracle Seed
He already works as a ghetto Rillaboom with grassy glide and sucker punch, but his hidden trait is in his mixed attacking stats. Slap STAB Leaf Storm on him and he has 300 base power nuke that melts things 8 levels above him.
>Cheek Pouch Regirock
Reliable recovery on a Regi is insane. Mix that with the immediate access to Body press because of TRs and hes a menace.

Had two deaths so far, one accidental, one complete RNG. I accidently triggered the Hammerlocke battle cafe not knowing that it was a double battle with mon even higher than the 4th gym level cap at 37 while most of my mon were only 30. To survive, I had to sack Accelgor to keep Regirock alive who endured a lot thanks to cheek pouch.

Then some random trainer with clefable rolled shell smash and then Rock Wrecker.

the other random ability mon I have are:
>Perish Body Pinsir
>Intrepid Sword Gallade
>Thick Fat Manectric
>Berserk Eldegoss
>Swift Swim Wailmer
>Steelworker Skorupi
>Aerilate Cradily

I think Rapidash and Gallade should make easy work of Bea.
>>
>>59479049
What about Golbat then?
>>
>>59478758
I think a dark move (pursuit im guessing) on Fearow is fine. As long as the two other ghosts are down, Fearow stalls out Gengar's sucker punches. Swap stall if you need to. After the pp runs out, let Fearow kill him. I think the other two ghosts have something like curse or maybe mean look (don't remember), so maybe look into that
>>
>>59479884
Wait how those Sucker Punch work? Those it not land if you don't attack?
>>
>>59479993
correct: Sucker Punch has priority and fails if the opponent doesn't choose an attack
>>
>>59480015
How many times can Sucker Punch be used? And is it only his Gengar that has it? I do remember two of his pokemon cannot harm nornal types but that's not his Gengar.
>>
>>59480256
I can't remember. you'll have to look it up. Gengar has Hypnosis and Dream Eater iirc.
>>
Is BW any good for a nuzlocke? I've never done a nuzlocke but I was reading up on it and it sounded fun, especially if I stuck to the level caps and boxed my starter.
>>
>>59480277
level caps are a bad idea if you've never done a nuzlocke before
>>
>>59480256
His second Haunter at level 23 has Sucker Punch as well, and it has five uses. Gengar only has Hypnosis, his first Haunter has it and Dream Eater too.
>>59480277
Yes, though for a first tun i would consider easing myself into the harder rules. Build up to level caps instead of cranking it up to 11. BW are already decently difficult for a Nuzlocke as is.
>>
>>59480282
>>59480313
How hard could level caps be? I mean otherwise I can just grind the fuck out of one Pokemon and steamroll no?
>>
>>59480346
gen 5 grants less EXP if you're over-leveled
>>
>>59480346
They're over exaggerating. BW is not that hard to warrant ignoring level caps.
>>
>>59480353
>>59480354
Thanks for the info. Should I do the dupe clause or nah? I just started the game. The dupe clause seems like it lets you game the system a lot.
>>
>>59480396
I think dupes clause is good but it’s 100% your choice.
>>
>>59480396
Personally would lose interest fast in a Nuzlocke if dupes clause wasn’t a thing since the regional bird/mammal are so common. DC is especially good here in BW1 since it’s just the Unova Dex which gets even smaller when you consider evolutions, version exclusives, and more.
>>
>modest Stoutland
Thanks game...
>>
Pansear swept me, I guess this game is grinding heavy.
>>
>>59480396
Dupes clause only lets you game the system if you know how to. To give it an example, you have to know how to game encounters to get guaranteed Gible in Wayward Cave, but you can still fail through encounter rng.
>>59481490
Only the very beginning, heck it might even be anti-grind with the exp system. I think the first gym was designed with new players learning about type advantage to trump level difference in mind.
>>
>>59481539
I didn't know which mon came out first and lillipup raped my panpour with a crit

Tonight has gone great for my HeartGold nuzlocke. I'm winning.

My current team is this:

>Bayleef
>Ampharos
>Geodude
>Fearow
>Machop
>Golbat

Pokemon in PC:

>Egg
>Spearow
>Zubat

>Magnemite

>Tentacruel

Pokemon at daycare:

>Eevee
>Ratatta

Dead pokemon:

>Drowzee
>Spearow

I was really stressed out about the Ecruteak gym leader Morty but I won. Here's how the battle went.

I just beat the gym leader of Ecruteak City Morty and it was stressful, so Fearow took out his Ghastly and then his first Haunter with Pursuit, his Haunter did use Curse so I sent out Ratatta against his Gengar to get rid of Fearows Curse and heal it. However his Gengar used Mean Look meaning Ratatta could not escape and this was the first Ratatta I caught so it was low level and did not know Bite so it could do no damage whatsoever, i did used Tail Whip to lower Gengars defense and eventually Gengar ran out of moves and killed Ratatta with Struggle, I used the wrong Rat but it's fine, Fearow went up against his final Haunter who used Curse and I switched to Golbat to use Bite to finish it off. That battle was stressful but I won.

I'm currently at Cianwood Town. Any advice for the gym leader Chuck?
>>
>>59482431
Gengar doesn't have Hypnosis and Dream Eater? that's really weird. maybe it's GSC only. also, I think you're Golbat can solo Chuck's gym with Wing Attack spam. just make sure it's holding the Sooth Bell.

Continuing My NU Randomizer + Random Ability Run. Got to Circhester, but had quite a few losses along the way.

Bea was a non-issue. Auto-crit Galarian Rapidash made her entire team a non-issue and her G-max Machamp kept spamming Chi-strike despite it being 4x resisted while I chipped him to death with psycho cut crits without even needing to dynamax.

Fast forward to Ballonlea, and I didn't realize that you couldn't use the PC box after entering a gym. I hard a horribly optimized and underlevel team to face the fairy Ballonlea gym. Steelworker + Hone Claws Skorupi with Iron Tail carried hard through the trainers, but then we got to Opal

I lead with Craydily Leech Seed and chipped Wheezing to death, then came her Togekiss. I switched to Manectric and then got my stats dropped by her bullshit questions. Togekiss survived a thunderbolt with 1 HP, so I had to switch to eldgoss who tanked a ancient power and then switched back to Manetric with fresh stats. Got stat dropped by her bullshit questions again but managed to OHKO her Mawile thanks to a crit flamethrower. Then came G-Max Alcremie. With G-max Finale healing and its massive health, I had no choice but to sack Manetric and Cradliy to waste the turns as I didn't think eldgoss or Skorupi could survive either.
Finally Magmortar came in, dynamaxed, and finished the job, but the game wanted blood.

I got through Route 7 fine until a double battle. I had espeon and Magmortar, it was against a Hipowdon and an Excadrill. I didn't consider Sand Rush and thought I could OHKO excadrill with flamethrower, but it outspeed and used Dig. Then the Hipowdon used Sand Tomb, sealing Magmortar's fate. STAB Dig took his life.

Now I've got a few pokemon in the box that might help with the rock gym:
>Sap Sipper Poliwrath
>Swift Swim Wailord
>Rivalry Clawitzer
>Volt Absorb Jellicent (over level cap, can't use for now)

Didn't take on gym leader Chuck today as I felt like I wasn't prepared so all I did was grind and a few things.

My current team is this:

>Bayleef
>Graveler
>Machoke
>Ampharos
>Golbat
>Fearow

I don't feel like mentioning the other pokemon but I will mention some new pokemon I got. I was given a free Shuckle, caught the Red Gyarados at the Lake of Rage and caught a Natu at the Ruins of Alph. I also dealt with Team Rocket at there hideout because of how easy it is.

I'm now ready to take on Chuck. What advice can any of you offer?

>>59484220
Look up which of your pokes can survive one hit by Chuck's pokes and if they outspeed. Choice scarf/choice specs on Magical leaf Bayleef or thunderwave/discharge ampharos. If they don't outspeed, chestro for hypnosis.

Why is graveler in this fight? Sacrifice for a pivot?
>>
>>59485116
No I'm not gonna use Graveler, she's just on the team. I'm gonna use the two flying types and my grass and electric type. Mabye I might add the Red Gyarados to the team.

It's really up to you, the inner and outer sections of grass have distinct enough encounters that some people count them as two.
>>59486553
They at least give you a good check against Lenora if you didn't pick Tepig, but yeah they're pretty good.
>>
>>59486622
Sawk has 125 base attack and 80 base speed, with sturdy. So I can put him out there and blast out huge hits and not worry about getting sniped by anything weird.
>>
Retaliate sucks, little Watchog fucker killed my Drilbur
>>
>>59486653
that's why Roggenrola is the best Wellspring Cave encounter
>>
>>59486705
I'm basically playing this game blind remembering from when it actually came out and I played it regularly. I keep getting fucked over by this being the first game where gyms have gimmicks and not knowing where the 1000 rival battles will pop up. I've got more dead Pokemon than live ones right now.
>>
>>59486778
I wasn't trying to scold you. I'm just saying that a lot of people go for Drilbur in Wellspring Cave because Excadrill is good, but Dribur is not Excadril. I made this mistake in my earliest White Nuzlocke attempts. you have to invest a LOT in a Wellspring Cave Drilbur before it becomes Excadril when Roggenrola can solo Lenora's gym. but Roggenrola is only a 50% encounter rate and Woobat, while not completely awful, isn't useful for Lenora and mixed with Burgh.

despite all the casualties you've faced, the odds of you finishing this attempt isn't 0%. your run is far from over. even if you think you have no chance of winning: you should see the run to the end of the official wipe. the farther into the game you get, the more you learn, and the more you learn, the more consistent your runs will be. in my black 2 nuzlocke, I had lost many of my crucial members and had no plan for the champion. I just continued playing to see how far I could go and I beat it on that attempt.
>>
>>59486802
I've definitely learned a lot. Next run I probably won't pick Tepig, he's great but there's plenty of good fighting types and darmanitan for fire types.

Tonight has gone great, I beat 3 gym leaders in a row and dealt with Team Rocket.

Here is my team.

>Red Gyarados
>Ampharos
>Crobat
>Graveler
>Machoke
>Fearow

I beat the gym leader of Cianwood City Chuck and he was easier than expected. He didn't even use Focus Punch and Golbat took out his Primeape with Wing Attack while Bayleef used Magical Leaf against his Poliwrath. That's probably the most useful Bayleef will ever be.

I beat the gym leader of Mahogany Town Pryce. Ampharos took out Seel with one Thunder Punch, Machoke did alot of damage to Piloswine with Low Kick but Blizzard nearly killed Machoke so I sent out Red Gyarados, healed Machoke and then killed Piloswine with Surf, finally Machoke took an Aurora Beam from Dewgong which helped with using a powerful Revenge and winning the battle.

I beat the gym leader of Olivine City Jasmine. Graveler took out both her two Magnemites with Magnitude and they did fuck all. I was hoping Low Kick would instantly kill Steelix but it didn't and Iron Tail nearly killed Machoke so I did the sensible thing and had Red Gyarados beat Steelix with Surf.

I've decided to take Bayleef off the team and add the Red Gyarados. Any advice for Clair?

Jokes on you, Clawitzer being female actually made it have a 25% boost throughout the entirety of Raihan's gym which is male, it was actually clutch.

>>59484216
Continuing My NU Randomizer + Random Ability Run, got through the Circhester Rock Gym and Spikemuth Dark gym relatively easily.

Grassy Surge Shiftry cleaned through his first 3 mon and then Poliwrath switched in to counter Dynamax Coalossal for the 2HKO.

Hop rematch was a breeze, Fur Coat Lickilicky walled his entire team except for inteleon who spooked me with a crit snipe shot, but Shiftry Grassy glide his ass with the OHKO.

Pier was a breeze. Galarian Rapidash deleted Scarfty and Malamar with Play Rough, then auto-crit skuntank with Drill Run. However I didn't have any proper special attackers to deal with obstagoon, so I switched in Perish Body Pinsir and ran out the clock switching so I wouldn't risk getting defense dropped from Obstruct or killed by counter.

Finally Hammerlocke's Dragon-Weather-Doubles battles. I had to craft my team extremely well to endure the onslaught of back-to-back matches from the trainers.

Misty Surge from Lapras let me run Fairy-Terrain Pulse on Clawitzer to OHKO the dragons while Lapras cleaned up the rest.

Then Raihan. I lead with Eldegoss and Choice Scarf Clawitzer. Deleted Flygon with ice beam while eldegoss charmed Gigalith. Then when Sandaconda came out, I switched clawitzer with Lapras to get Misty Terrain up to block Glare while Eldegoss charmed Sanda. Lapras tanked a body press while 2 more layers of charm were put on Sandaconda. Finally lapras/Eldegoss took out Gigalith, setting the stage for Gigantamax Duraudon.

Switched Lapras for Galarian Rapidash to tank the max-knuckle, Eldegoss synthesis heals. Then switch Centiskorch to tank the Max-Steelspike while eldgoss charms. Finally switched to Fur Coat Lickilicky to tank the Max Rockfall while Eldegoss charms again.

Lickilicky then Max-knuckled Duraludon to death.

Alright, in preparation for the champion's cup and Eternatus, I went back and caught every wild area I hadn't hit yet. Heres my haul:

>Gluttony Octillery
>Overcoat Vikavolt
>Parental Bond Heatmor
>No Guard Jigglypuff
>Honey Gather Boltund
>Simple Hitmonchan

You look at some of these and think their abilities might be broken, but I think I just made a breakthrough in Sword/Shield nuzlocking.

BOLTUND IS FUCKING BROKEN
>121 Base Speed
>Eerie Impulse
>Charm
>Nuzzle

Because of these traits, Boltund can completely invalidate any opponent after you arrive in Wyndon to get the Eerie Impulse TM. It works like this:
>-6 Attacking stat of first mon
>Nuzzle them for Para
>Switch to boost sweeper
>Clean entire team
Not a single team has a ground type special attacking lead, so this works on everyone after getting to Wyndon

Cleared Marnie and Hop at the cup like they weren't even a threat thanks to Boltund + Simple Hitmonchan boost sweeping.

Should this strat be illegal? I've never seen it discussed but it seems 100% fullproof.
>>
>>59488512
Don't crits ignore attack down? It feels like a small bit real risk
>>
>>59487030
I didn't have a lot of luck, I ran into Cheren on Route 4 and my team wasn't at full strength, took a few crits and game over.

So I restarted and I'm back stronger than before, about to grab a someone outside Pinwheel Forest. I got way less lucky with natures this time but overall I feel like I've had solid luck in my encounters and I'm feeling way more positive and engaged.
>>
>>59488775
Okay so flawed gameplan here, everything on my team was weak to fighting or was blitzle with paper defenses. I fucked up outside Pinwheel by forgetting to use a repel while checking shaking grass for Throh, but I ran into Sawk instead. Sawk annihilated my Patrat and I feel like it was extreme luck that was all I lost here. Trading Patrat for Sawk does feel like a really good trade but Lenora is a little bit less of a sure thing. Probably Rogenrolla can tank Retaliate and I'll be fine.
>>

>>59488683
yes crits do break through it, but the enemy rolling it 4.17% chances twice to be able to KO something would be miniscule at -6.

Its made even worse because of my "1 egg move" rule which can stack accuracy drops on top of the offensive drops and 50/50 para chance.

I'm genuinely conflicted how to continue. On one hand this is bringing one of the worst mons into being one of the most broken in nuzlocking ever due to how the AI never switches out, but on the other, it feels almost like cheating knowing I have 2.08% chance of the enemy pokemon being able to even damage my set-up mon.

And I can customize for the starter mon in question between
>Swords Dance + Agility Gallade (intrepid sword)
>Rapid Spin + Power-Up Punch Hitmonchan (Simple)
>Swords Dance Assault vest Licklicky (Fur Coat)
>Swords Dance Shiftry (Grassy Surge)
>Dragon Dance Lapras (Misty Surge)
>Calm Mind Espeon (Queenly Majesty)
>Calm Mind Oranguru (Ice Scales)

Is Boltund so broken that I should ban it the rest of the run or revel in a shitmon breaking the game in my favor?

I never imagined pic related with fucking Honey Gather as its ability would be the most busted thing in a nuzlocke with random abilities (even though the mon are restricted to NU and lower)

I've still got the isle of armor and Crown tundra to go after the main game, but I'm wondering if Boltund will make all battles a non-issue.

Hey guys. No updates tonight because I've been visiting some people in Liverpool.

Any advice for Clair?
>>
>>59490009
Confuse Ray from Crobat on Claire's Gyarados, switch to Graveler, use defense curl then rollout and pray. Every good counter to Kingdra is after Kingdra.
>>
>>59490009
Clair’s team is mostly special but some moves are physical. The two Dragonairs have shed skin, so status moves like thunder wave are pointless on her. My lantern had enough bulk to kill Intimidate Gyarados easy with 4x effective Discharge, but with Dragonair I needed something else with an ice move. Unless your red Gyarados is special, I’d choose something like ice fang over dragon pulse. The Dragonairs have thunder wave too so berry right.

Man wtf did I do for sitrus Sniper Kingdra? I think I used an Amnesia Corsola lool. Look up if Dragon Pulse on Gyarados would even dent her monster of a Kingdra.

Your ampharos ideally OHKO blue Gyarados after former gets hit once (choice spec or magnet if u think not enough).
Your graveler will do nothing but die so Bayleef here is I guess better, but if it goes into the fire blast dragonair instead of the aqua tail one, it’s gonna die :/
Red Gyarados is the most bulky on ur team, but can do 3 roles? Crobat, Machoke, and Fearow need to do some work here. Confuse ray might be fun. My guess is that since Ampharos has better special def, they’ll bring out physical aqua tail Dragonair after, maybe?? Don’t quote me on that. You cooould try to thunder wave and hope it helps a swap before a shed skin but ehhh. Maybe Charge on Ampharos, but when does it have time to set up?

Don’t have good answers here. Do some thinking before u fight. Could synthesis+light screen, base-80 special def bayleef help out at all? Is this where u choose an Eevee-lotion? I dunno

That does sound busted, on top of getting fully evolved starter right at the start of the game.
>>
>>59486624
Sawk is definitely mvp material, it was already the mvp of someone's run not that long ago.
>>
>>59491645
I basically already whiffed this run, I'm down to literally just Sawk left. I think realistically I should start with an easier game. Because I'm getting the piss beat out of me

gen 5's early-game is brootal. it's not so bad after that.
>>
>>59491712
I just started spiraling after Leavanny crit killed a couple mons with Razor Leaf, then a little while after Bianca's Herdier sniped out another one with a crit Take Down. I know the answer is to expect crits and I'm fine with that but damn I'm getting murdered out here. Pokemon have 50 power Tackles right at the start of the game and a lot of these mons have better moves soon after, damage is just really high. I know that cuts both ways but I'm struggling to adjust. I'm gonna try Soul Silver instead I think, I'm gonna roll for a shiny starter and whatever one comes up shiny first will be my pick and we'll go from there.
>>
>>59491725
>shiny starter
...you're gonna reroll thousands of times?
>>
>>59491121
Starter Lickatung evolving at level 6 was insane. I always remembered it not getting rollout until level 33 but for some reason its level 6 in Sword/Shield. Lucky me + Fur Coat which works insanely with Lickilicky's stat distribution. Its bulkier than Mega Aggron on the physical side.

Also I wonder if nobody noticed how broken Boltund is in the late game when its gets Eerie Impulse because their Boltund probably died in the early game before they could realize it as the ultimate lead debuffer.
>>
I technically won but lost Quagsire. Gengar nailed a 10% Shadow Ball special defense drop so Quagsire got 2-shotted. I couldn’t switch out because of Mean Look. I invested too heavily into him to go on (plus I don’t have an answer for the other Gym Leaders now) so I’m quitting at Morty. Quagsire was Lv. 29, Ampharos was Lv. 30.
>>
>>59491865
Maybe? I don't mind shiny hunting anyway but hgss is by far the easiest game to hunt because you check 3 starters at once and it takes like 20 seconds. I'll probably be ready to go tonight or tomorrow.
>>
>>59490278
>cutie!
>>59492291
According to kinglercalc, Morty 3 shots lev 29 Quagsire pretty much normally except like alsolute rare worst case. You said he did mean look, but that’s still 3 hits with that sp def drop right? Ground and normal don’t work on levitate gengar, so what move did you use? Surf from ecruteak surely 2HKO if quagsire is reasonably strong enough (at least like 48 sp atk), and even luck is on your side if not. I couldn’t imagine using water gun on Morty’s gengar, tf

I think a sitrus berry with amnesia first would’ve been better planning. Just rock smash and reset that rock in violet city until u get a yellow shard. Unless you job Morty’s gengar with any normal type, it’s a pretty dangerous poke, imo worse than Whitney

Sorry for the loss

I think turn 1 Surf got Gengar to Yellow but Sitrus Berry pushed Gengar back to about 75% health (Gengar used Mean Look on turn 1). Gengar got the Special Defense drop turn 2 Shadow Ball and turn 3 Quagsire was killed by another Shadow Ball. I forget if there were any critical hits. I didn’t think to farm berries, that’s a good idea! you’re right, Sitrus Berry + turn 1 Amnesia would have saved me from losing Quagsire like that.

Today in my HeartGold nuzlocke, I finally beat the gym leader of Blackthorn City Clair.

Here is my current team:

>Red Gyarados
>Crobat
>Ampharos
>Fearow
>Machoke
>Graveler

Here's how I beat Clair. Ampharos took put her Gyarados with no issue using Thunder Punch and my Red Gyarados took out both her Dragonairs with Ice Fang but her Kingdra was difficult, I had to keep healing Gyarados but eventually I just used Dragon Rage enough times until her Kingdra was dead. Final gym battle won. The battle was hard but I won.

Anyway do you have any advice for the Kimono girls?
>>
>>59492540
Oh right, he got sitrus too so you'd need to 3 shot him, not two. I'm not pulling up calc rn, but I guess if he took 4 moves to kill when you also need 4 moves to kill, he outspeeds, so you would've had to see if it was 4 moves or 5 for him. I wonder if two amnesias were necessary, but wtv. Wish you luck on the next one.

He's not opposed to rare candies, but doesn't use hold items which is odd as hell.

His decision making sucks. He doesn't let his pokemon share any work, esp with trash, undiverse movesets.
After a rare candy, Flamethrower was allowed to replace a move in his current moveset of Fire Blast AND Fire Fang, Bite AND Feint Attack??? First off, wtf is this trash moveset. But then he replaces Fire Fang, with Flamethrower??? What the hell is the point of having both special Flamethrower and Fire Blast? He doesn't even use Flamethrower either. Was he really expecting to hit like all 6 Fire Blasts? That's like a 62% chance, wtf. He didn't even have Dark Pulse! Why not Embargo on these healing Elite Four bitches? He didn't have a grass move for Whiscash, he had two water and two normal moves for Biberal, and he was hoping that Biberal would sweep the battle? What was he even gonna do for Milotic? He's also hoping that Houndoom basically sweeps cause he swaps back into it for Drapion instead of just letting Steelix take it - tf why?
Umbreon has Feint Attack, Bite, AND Assurance. Why does Steelix have Dragonbreath? Who does that even hurt? Chimeco has Extrasensory AND confusion??? With Healbell AND SAFEGAURD! Bruh, choose one! He doesn't even use healbell, opting for bag items to heal instead. What's the point?
He was utterly doomed to not make it far.

>how does he fix
Get some damn diversity. He had a whopping 4 moves for the Psychic battle, with 3 of them dark; too bad that's the 4th battle, not 1st. Get some damn water moves, a grass move, holy fuck he didn't even have a ground move? He was hoping Biberal was gonna sweep the Ground and Fire battles, loooool. I haven't seen the rest of his videos, was his goal just to use Steel and Dark, plus a Biberal and Giratina? Unless he was going for a gimmick, he plays like southern hick with an internal hatred against diversity and loves big business taking all the work.

Funny to watch though, at least
>>
>>59494834
Sorry, not four moves, but seven! 6 of them dark moves, 1 is ghost. Christ...

Following up on a night start to SS:
You're guaranteed a Hoothoot and Ratata between routes 29 and 30, backtrack and you're guaranteed a Geodude on 46, then a Bellsprout on 31, and a Gastly in Sprout Tower. Also effectively guaranteed a Zubat if you hit Dark Cave - there's a 1% chance you hit Dunsparce but that's not realistic. The first route that isn't deterministic is Route 32 where you've got a toss up between Ekans, Wooper, and Mareep - but if you wait until morning you can use a repel at level 6 and guarantee Mareep. Going into Union Cave with Geodude, Ratata, and Zubat guarantees Onix though Onix is a rare spawn so you can probably get through the cave without having to use a repel or catch anything if you want to wait for a Lapras. Route 33 you can guarantee a hoppip during the day with a repel or an Ekans at night. Slowpoke Well guarantees a Slowpoke.

Is there even any randomness in this run?

Continuing My NU Randomizer + Random Ability Run, got Beat the champions cup, Rose, Eternatus, and Champion Leon with only one death due to my Showdown brain thinking Dragapult's only ability was infiltrator.

Cheek Pouch Regirock Heavy Slammed Bede's team to death by himself.

No Guard Wigglytuff thunder'd Nessa's team until Barraskewda crit it, switched to Grassy Surge Shiftry who grassy glided everyone, even OHKOing Gigantamax Drednaw without dynamaxing itsself.

Intrepid Sword Gallade ripped through Bea's team until Machamp, who Galarian Rapidash was able to switch in and get the counter Dynaxmax KO with crit Max Mindstorm

The battle with Raihan was a completely insane luck roll for me. I opened with Wailord to bait Solar Beam, switched to Sap Sipper Poliwrath, and for some reason, that frog wanted blood. He somehow outspeed everyone and he Crit Earthquake torkoal, Crit Ice Punch Goodra, Crit Earthquake Turtonator, Crit Ice Punch Flygon. Finally G-max Duraludon was wittled down by Dynamax Fur Coat Licklilcky spamming Max Knuckle.

Rose was pretty straightforward, Centiskorch deleted Escavlier, ferrothorn, Perrserk, and Klinklang. Then Fur Coat Lickilcky wore down Gigantamax Copperajah With Max knuckles.

Ice Scales Oranguru sat in the fight with Eternamax, Yawning and Psychic spamming while living the Max- Wyrmwinds.
>>
>>59495933

Finally, we get to Leon. I open with Water Spout Waillord with Choice Scarf and cut it down 80% while it was still in Shield mode. He tanks a shadow ball at 40%, and then finished off the biggest threat in Aegislash.
Then he sent out Dragapult, but I was foolish. I thought its ability was Infiltrator because that what it is 99% of the time on pokemon showdown. I switched to Boltund thinking I could eerie impulse it to let Oranguru come in and clean it, but I was dead wrong. It was clear body, hard countering my boltund strat that I thought was 100% fullproof in a nuzlocke. It crit Thunderbolt'd me on switch in and then crit shadow ball'd Boltund leaving it at 1HP. I didn't want to lose this important pokemon because I still have all the DLC I need to get through, so I made the decision to sack Waillord so I could get a clean switch in. I switched to Shiftry and OHKO it with sucker punch, then came haxorus. I switched to Cheek Poach Regirock who tanked a poison jab and Earthquake while setting up stealth rocks and then body pressing for the win. Seismitoad came out, and I brought Shiftry back out to delete it. Finally Cinderace. I switched to fur Coat lickilicky and deleted it with Max Rockfall. Finally Giantamax Charizard came out, 50HP from the Stealth rock, and it was dead from the Max Rockfall from Lickilicky.

I am now Galar Champ! But the run isn't over, now on to the Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra!

also my last 2 gets in the main game from the slumbering Weald and Tower summit were
>Galvanize Rufflet
>Effect Spore Tauros.

Lets see what DLC has to offer! I have my trusty Honey Gather Boltund to take on any challenge that doesn't have clear body or White Smoke!
>>
>>59495512
there's also Geodude but Smokescreen/Sand-Attack spam works wonders, even if the user is weak to Roll-Out
>>
>>59495052
For rollout, it doesn't need to. Sitrus berry even against a crit would allow for a curse, and then protect to stop the rollout. The reall issue is that miltank has scrappy, so stomp actually does more damage. You'd have to use a calculator to check, but it needs to be bulky enough to survive a stomp and curse with a sitrus berry.

And if you're doing set mode, what's also an issue is getting gastly onto the field without damage if he isn't already out.
But I mean, it's sorta boring if you just use onix or geodude or machop or spamming defense curl all the time. Sometimes winning the nuzlocke risk and using alternate methods are fun.

>>59495586
You could avoid the bat to get wobuffet later, ignore onix to get Steelix later, get one of the 3 eggs in violet city (wooper, mareep, or slugma). Also, I don't think ekans is guarenteed at the part you mentioned? Mareep too, no?
>>
>>59496869
also, rock smash in the cave for dunsparce, maybe to stall against whitney with curse dmg and defense curl and yawn twice. Don't know how great dunsparce is though desu

Continuing on with my NU Randomizer Random Ability Run of Sword, we're doing the Isle of Armor now!

New land, new pokemon. I'm banning all my mainland galar pokemon and starting anew. New Team after doing the Slowpoke trial so far is:
>Galvanize Rufflet
>Water Bubble Bunnery
>Pixelate Druddigon
>Pastel Veil Crygonal
>Desolate Land Vileplume
>Fluffy Eiscue (Ice Face Form)

I'm feeling good about this. Got a solid special wall and physical wall, its just that they are both ice types unfortunately.
However conversely:
Lvl 60 0 Atk Urshifu Close Combat vs. Lvl 60 0 HP / 252 Def Fluffy Eiscue: 75-88 (42.1 - 49.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Water Bubble is great for an extra fire resistance and burn immunity for Lopunny, but I feel cheated with her not having a water type move to take advantage of the 2x water damage output.

Desolete Land Vileplume is solid for solar beam spam, but double edged as fire threats are doubled.

Galvanize Braviary is by far the most disappointing. Its strongest normal move is Crush Claw, it doesn't even learn double edge!

Hopefully this team will be able to endure the trial to come on the Isle of Armor!
>>
>>59497130
Well it gets Brave Bird TR. I think wanting both is a little greedy, lol. Hell, it gets Thrash (at 72)
I do see now that Hisuin gets both, but that's fine cause its atk isn't even close

That Vileplume sounds great, but yeah your team has fire issues. Does Lopunny need to learn Dig for them, kek

This morning, I beat all five Kimono Girls, they where hard but I beat them both. I caught the Legendary Ho-oh at the top of the Bell Tower and I also did Victorg Road and beat my rival for the last time in that game. Now I'm up to the elite four and champion and it's gonna take a while to grind everyone up to level 50.

Any advice for the elite four and champion?
>>
>>59497673
Your team's fine for pokemon league. Just give them the right moves and hold items. No idea of gyarados can sweep the dragons but at lev 50 I'd imagine he takes at least two of them. The elite 4 can be beaten intelligently at lev 40 with your team, it's just lance that forces you to push more. Idk, look up if you can get away with winning at 45,

Also, get the life orb with ho oh if you want to use it. You don't have to, though, esp if it's personally too risky.

Thanks, winning with my starter Lickatung felt full circle.

I took my new Isle team and went back and fought Hop and Sworbert at the Slumbering Weald, barely survived thanks to Vileplume because my entire team is weak to fighting. Sap Strength was a huge saver.

While training I did lose Braviary to a Sniper crit from a Drapion, so i'm avoiding those like the plague now.

The DLC of the Isle of Armor is absolute dogwater. All the trainers have completely undertuned unevolved pokemon that level 60+, makes no sense. Even Klara with her toxic spikes taking me by surprise was a pushover, i didn't even work the level cap to fight her.

Then the tower was more garbage pokemon for only Kubfu to fight which was a snoozefest.

Literally the only trainers to face on the whole fucking isle of armor are in a hallway that you can only have Kubfu in.

I am genuinely happy I boycotted this game at launch. If I paid for this DLC I would have genuinely been angry at how little content there is.

My last update was back in May, and I've been playing quite a bit since. I also forgot to post my Marlon update back then.
>Vs Marlon
>Marlon
>Carracosta
Luciana Charms Carracosta, who Scalds her for her effort.
Luciana then asks for the Encore and gets Scalded once more.
Pennybags comes in on Scald
Energy Ball puts Carracosta down to Sturdy, it Scalds again, and Encore stops.
Marlon goes for a Hyper Potion, and I expect as much, so Will-O-Wisp gets the burn.
Another Energy Ball seals the deal.
>Jellicent
Zhang He in for free on Ominous Wind.
Shadow Claw does decent damage but less than I hoped. Scald does quite a bit in return.
Brannigan comes in on Brine. A ThunderPunch takes out Jellicent.
>Wailord
ThunderPunch knocks it out.

>Colress
>Magneton
Brannigan Bulldozes it, and Colress "wisely" Thunder Waves straight into Motor Drive(Speed Up)
Another Bulldoze takes it out.
>Magnezone
Bulldoze is met by Flash Cannon.
Colress then uses a Full Restore, but sequential Bulldozes does the job.
>Klinklang
ThunderPunch pops the Air Balloon, but Klinklang Shifts Gear.
Another Shift Gear, and Brannigan Bulldozes in Return.
Klinklang's Giga Impact gets a clean KO on Brannigan and I can only blame myself. I always keep thinking Electivire is bulkier than it is.
Luciana in next.
Klinklang has to Recharge, but Wake-Up Slap finishes it off.
>Metang
Luciana Wake-Up Slaps Metang, who uses Agility.
Encore makes sure Agility is all Metang does, as Luciana Wake-Up Slaps it twice more to get the KO.
>Beheeyem
Three hits of Tail Slap does a bunch, and Calm Mind ends up not mattering as a single hit of a second Tail Slap handles it.

Piper and Pennybags handle Kyurem fairly nicely between them, using a combination of Toxic, Hex and Recover.
For the Ghetsis fight, the only change is giving Zhang He Shadow Claw in place of Taunt.

>Vs Ghetsis
>Cofagrigus
Both the coffin and Piper use Toxic.
A Shadow Ball into Encore is perfect.
Zhang He gets in on Shadow Ball, then sets up two Swords Dances before Encore ends.
Shadow Claw gets the KO.
>Seismitoad
It falls to an unnecessary Strength Crit.
Zhang He levels up.
>Toxicroak
>Drapion
Both fall to Strength, and Zhang He gets another level. Erratic Exp group finally speeding up.
>Hydreigon
Close Combat oneshot.
>Eelektross
Strength ends the fight.

He did heal his Machamp but I paralysed it again, used Charge and then one Discharge finally took it out. Hitmonlee was no issue, Crobat used Fly.

So first I send out Ampharos against his Gyarados, I have Ampharos use Thunder Wave, then Charge and then Discharge killing his Gyarados instantly but Ampharos did take alot of damage from Waterfall, then came his Dragonite, he sent out his strongest level 50 Dragonite but my shiny Gyarados outsped it and took it out with one Ice Fang, this made me happy, next came out his Aerodactyl, I had Golem use Rock Throw, Golem won but took alot of damage, Lance then sent out his Dragonite, the one that knows Blizzard, my Gyarados took it out with Ice Fang but for some reason, his Dragonite was faster and did do alot of damage so his next Dragonite was an issue, especially as it knows Thunder and could outspeed my Gyarados, at first I sent out Ampharos with the intention on using Thunder Wave but when I healed Ampharos, Dragon Rush did alot of fucking damage, not know what to do, I decided that I've come far to not fuck up now and so I have no choice but to sacrifice some pokemon, I send out Machamp, I heal Ampharos and Machamp who helped me all the way back with Whitney is killed by Dragon Rush, I then decide to also send out Ho-oh to heal Gyarados and Golem but Ho-oh did not die and somehow dodged his attacks, so I used Sacred Fire a few times and even burnt Dragonite but Lance used Full Restore and then Ho-oh was killed with a Thunder. Ampharos came out to use Thunder Wave and paralys his Dragonite, I then needed my Gyarados to go first so I had no choice but to sacrifice Crobat to Thunder, Crobat died and became my last casualty, finally i sent out Gyarados and used Ice Fang taking out Lance's final and problematic Dragonite once and for all. Knowing I had one, I had three pokemon that where all effective against his Charizard but I chose Golem to finish Charizard off with a single Rock Throw and the battle was over.

I have won now.

League time!
Note: I do not disqualify a pokemon from use if it goes over the level cap during the league+champion itself.
>Vs Shauntal
>Cofagrigus
Marty sets up Light Screen using the Light Clay, and gets Shadow Balled. He then Thunder Waves Cofagrigus and gets Grass Knotted.
A Volt Switch Crit lets in Zhang He on Grass Knot.
Swords Dance, Grass Knot. Then Swords Dance into Will-O-Wisp(Rawst Berry).
Taunt is met by Full Paralysis, a final Swords Dance as another Full Paralysis happens.
Now fully set up, Shadow Claw gets the KO.
>Golurk
>Chandelure
>Drifblim
Shadow Claw oneshots all three, and Zhang He levels up.

>Vs Caitlin
>Musharna
Ended up being a bit of a circus here, and I suspect I could have avoided it by just using Taunt with Zhang He from the first turn.
Instead...
Marty sets up Light Screen, Musharna Yawns. Musharna then continues yawning for many turns as I swap Zhang He and Marty back and forth, trying to find a turn to Taunt. At least Marty does his swapping with Volt Switch so he deals some damage.
Eventually, Musharna goes for Reflect while Marty is in, and Marty fires off a Thunder Wave.
Marty sets up a new Light Screen, then Volt Switches Zhang He in as Musharna tries Dream Eater on a mon that is not asleep(?).
A Taunt and two Swords Dances later, Zhang He knocks Musharna out with Shadow Claw
>Reuniclus
>Sigilyph
>Gothitelle
They also fall to Shadow Claw.
Zhang He levels up twice here.

Grimsley
>Liepard
It Fakes Out Piper(holding Rocky Helmet).
A Night Slash, and then... Power Split.
Night Slash and a Toxic Miss. Repeat the next turn, but a hit this time.
I swap in Zhang He on another Night Slash.
Grimsley uses Full Restore, Zhang He Swords Dances.
Another Swords Dance but Zhang He gets Attracted.
Four turns of Night Slashes and "immobilized by love" follows, with Zhang He eating his Sitrus Berry during this.
Close Combat finally works, finishing off Liepard.
>Scrafty
>Krookodile
>Bisharp
These three too.
Another level for Zhang He.
>>
>>59507514
>Vs Marshal
>Throh
Madison sets up Reflect, and takes a Payback.
Marty gets in next on another Payback.
He Volt Switches to Pennybags, who takes a Bulldoze.
The AI uses Storm Throw for some reason, and Psychic does good damage.
Payback hits Pennybags(who is wearing the Rocky Helmet) and Psychic gets the KO.
>Sawk
White 2 Easy Mode AI is really, really dumb.
Sawk tries to Brick Break a ghost type thrice in a row, during which turns it dodges a Will-O-Wisp, gets hit by a Will-O-Wisp, and then hit by Psychic.
Full Restore brings it back to full in time for a Hex.
It scores a Payback Crit, then takes big damage from Psychic.
Sawk knocks itself out using Payback, and Pennybags uses Recover.
>Conkeldurr
It sets up Bulk Up as Pennybags Recovers. I only now consider Guts, misremembering it as having Sheer Force. Without being able to burn Conkeldurr, Bulk Up is really scary for me.
Conkeldurr Bulks Up and takes less from Psychic than I hoped - but a SpDef drop comes in clutch, allowing the next hit to KO even with a Sitrus Berry heal from Conkeldurr. Pennybags takes a Stone Edge for pretty nasty damage.
I was really lucky here.
>Mienshao
It uses Bounce, Pennybags Recovers.
Swap Marty in, Bounce hits.
Volt Switch Pennybags in, causing Hi Jump Kick to crash.
Mienshao Bounces, Psychic misses.
Bounce then Crits and Paralyzes Pennybags, but the Rocky Helmet damage takes Mienshao out too.
Pennybags levels up once during this battle.

And the final fight before the post-game...
>Vs Iris
>Hydreigon
I stupidly assumes Zhang He's Close Combat will be enough thanks to an Expert Belt, but it only puts Hydreigon in the red.
Thankfully, Zhang He survives the Dragon Pulse on single digit HP as well.
Iris uses a Full Restore, but two Close Combats in a row does it.
>Druddigon
Pennybags in on Rock Slide, Cursed Body activates and disables it.
Druddigon goes for Flamethrower, while Pennybags uses Recover.
Another Flamethrower is met by Ice Beam, which freezes Druddigon.
Hex finishes the Frozen dragon off.
>Lapras
It uses Thunderbolt and Pennybags uses Will-O-Wisp(planning to go for Hex).
But Lapras uses Sing, putting Pennybags to sleep.
I send Marty in on Thunderbolt, activating Motor Drive.
Volt Switch into Luciana, who gets hit by Sing.
Luciana sleeps for one Turn and takes an Ice Beam, then wakes up and takes Lapras out with Wake-Up Slap.
>Aggron
I have Luciana Charm Aggron, who Autotomizes
Aggron then hits Luciana with Double-Edge, causing Luciana to eat her Sitrus, and Luciana Encores Aggron.
Pennybags in next trying to make it wake up.
It wakes up after four turns as Encored Double-Edge's turn into a Rock Slide(which activates Cursed Body).
Eventually, Pennybags wins using Recover, Will-O-Wisp and Hex while shrugging off Earthquake.
>Haxorus
It goes for Dragon Dance but gets Will-O-Wisped
Earthquake gets disabled by Cursed Body and Ice Beam does plenty of damage.
Haxorus then Dual Chops, KOing itself on the Rocky Helmet
>Archeops
I send in Marty on Acrobatics.
Marty ends the battle with a Wild Charge Crit(that was probably not necessary?)
>>
Congrats to everyone beating their challenges recently. I am on my way to the Pokemon League myself. That won't be where my challenge ends, but it's a big hurdle.
Barring something catastrophic, this will likely be the squad I roll with. They just beat Clair, with Grimace the Jynx one-shotting all three Dragonair and Kingdra being taken done through the combined efforts of Lulu, Dreven, Thallan, and Grimace.

Beat Misty.

Managed to find and catch an Abra on Route 24, which is dope as hell. I'll use it to trade for Mr. Mime later. I had planned to do so with the Game Corner Abra, but now it frees up that encounter (Eevee, perhaps?).
>>
Trained to face the Elite Four (if I get past them I will plan another team), but I'm not feeling confident at all. Here goes nothing I guess.

Scrafty is very good against the Unova E4, so it will put in a lot of work here. Good luck!

Managed to beat the League, but I lost Jellicent and Ferrothorn. Against Ghetsis my whole plan was counting on Sawk's Reversal, but he got killed vs N. I had no shot. I'm so angry and sad, fuck Nuzlockes.
>>
>>59509395
Just try it out again lol. It's a game, who cares. It "doesn't count" but you can try it again next time. Nuzlockes are meant to be challenging and fun. Just finish it, see if you can learn something out of it
>>
The elite 4 is the only place I don't like level caps. You're starting at 50, you'll end up fighting mons that are level 63, and you'll level up a couple times at most.
>>
>>59510388
Make your own rules. It could be the 1st elite's 1st mon or it could be their highest mon; it could be the Champion's lowest mon or their highest; or why not compromise in the middle and do the 3rd or 4th elites' mon?

Rules are only for your enjoyment. Imo 13 level differences forces you to use strategies like type immunities, intimidate/charm/captivate, swap stalling, reflect/barrier/iron defense/etc., and other stuff that might get boring or tedious after a while. Imo, just switch it up.

>>59510409
or forcing to sacrifice pokemon in the final battle, which may or may not be a bad thing depending on how you like to play.

Beat Surge.

A lot of fun developments. Caught 2x Pidgey and realized I could use their Flying typing and Sand-Attack to Repel trick Dugtrio.

Caught PIP the Spearow and traded him for DUX. I’ve never used a trade mon before, and the boosted EXP rate is super convenient.

Catching Dugtrio was tense. Bought 99x Poké Balls. Either a Lv. 29 or Lv. 31 Dugtrio is possible, and I got the 31. Spammed Sand-Attack with BASIC II, then swapped to DAISY to use Sleep Powder. If it used Dig, I’d swap back to BASIC II. The only real issue was Scratch, on the off chance it hit, slowly whittling down my team.

Caught it after 25x Poké Balls.

All EXP is still being funneled into Blastoise. Haven’t found a reason to stop that yet.
>>
>>59509395
Sucks to lose right at the end, but all you can really do is decide whether to run it back or not.
>>59510388
That's why i set my cap at or close to the champion's ace.
>>
>>59507535
Forgot to mention that I lost Marty to Alder when I fought him in the postgame.
Was Thunder Waving and Light Screening his Accelgor and didn't consider the Bug Buzz crit.
>>
>>59507945
As long as you can keep Jynx alive for Lance you should have it in the bag. I got an Electabuzz in one run that one shot his whole team, at level cap granted, but i could have gotten away with being underleveled.

And like that, my NU restricted Randomizer Random ability Nuzlocke for Sword comes to an end.

I went and did all the postgame content and had a single loss. I went back and fought Gamefreak Morimoto but didn't realize we could dynamax during the battle, so his Gigantamax Snorlax took me completely off guard and killed Eiscue with Max Knuckle. I give him create, his ice face form with Fluffy tanked 3 of those Max Knuckles before dying (with sitrus berry)

Then it took an eternity to catch all the pokemon in crown tundra, i couldn't believe it was genuinely worse than isle of armor NO TRAINERS AT ALL.

Mustard was managed by the Boltund + Simple Hitmonchan combo.

Then came the Galar Star Tourney, what a fucking farce. A double battle gauntlet of absolute horseshit with you are stuck with Hop as your partner with only level 70 mon but the tournment ramps up from 74-80 meaning you always have underpowered partner.

No Guard Wigglytuff coming in clutch with 100% accurate Sing for doubles lane control while Hop's unpowered Zamazenta chipped them to death

I think I'll do an RU restricted randomizer random ability run of Scarlet next. See if it is any better than Sword/Shield in terms of gameplay.

Starting my (blind) run of Scarlet heres the rules
>Nuzlocke Rules
>Set Mode
>Hard level cap to next gym leader
>Randomizer pokemon (RU and lower only)
>Random abilities
>Allowed eggs moves from 1 breeding parent
>No buying items, can only use items found in the game
>Limit 4 pokemon before first gym
>+2 pokemon catches per gym due to wild areas

We are already starting off with with GEMS

>Well Baked Body Passimian
>Wind Rider Grotle
>Chud Chew Dusknoir
>BATTLE BOND VIGOROTH

I almost lost that vigoroth against Nemona, her tera-Electric Pawmi's thunderstock crit and paralyzed me with 2HP left, but Dusknoir came in and cleaned it up.

If I can keep this vigoroth alive 30 more levels, I'm going to have a monstrous sweeper with battle bond Slaking.
>>
>>59516389
Battle Bond Slaking is definitely OU territory.
>>
>>59516409
Slaking has been ZU his entire life. But anon's randomizer ability cause makes slaking, regigigas, and Archeops, ZU bottom feeders potential monsters by taking away their shit abilities for anything. Grass Pelt Regigigas would still go hard.

Hard call to make when its RNG pulling only from the RU pool.
>>
>>59516450
I understand your point but I think I want to correct myself, this Slaking is definitely Uber tier, absolutely. He's got the same BST of the likes of Koraidon, Groudon, etc. and he gets a free dragon dance on every KO. And he has an insane 160 base attack so he doesn't even need to setup.
>>
Ursaring is a rape machine in crystal
>>
>>59516672
>On every KO
It only activates once per match anon.
But it is an insane mon to get a boost on kill effect. At least the anon seems to have pulled its egg moves from Zangoose giving it Night Slash and Slash, but didn't take arm hammer and body slam from Chesnaught which I think would have been the more broken options. I guess he was worried about being walled by ghosts?
Either way hes gotta survive to level 36 to get it.

Well I just killed the Route 3 Spearow so idk the soul's looking a lot like 'you're about to die and will have wasted a whole day grinding mons on ev training that went to the dude that died'.

I'm feeling kind of not good right now.
>>
>>59517874
Okay I got a Zubat, I guess if it can survive to 16 I can get Bite and start fighting back. Slow as fuck grind though, not hitting any of these until they're all at 21 minimum, going too fast cost me Bulbasaur and Kakuna today.
>>
>>59517874
>>59517885
If all day is not hyperbole, you're shifting emotions because you're tired. Turn off the game, play something else or watch something else, and get some rest, try again another day.
>>
>>59517885
FRLG I'm guessing? Primeape is great if you can get that far, no Crobat sucks but Confuse Ray is powerful no matter what, Raticate kinda sucks though sorry. Butterfree powders + whirlwind aren't terrible. You're just kinda looking at strategies that draw out fights. Route 4 gives you a chance at Spearow again or otherwise you'll get Ekans or Sandshrew. I'm not a Sandshrew fan and it won't help for misty so if you're on LeafGreen that sucks, but if you're on FR then Ekans can be great if you get intimidate - Arbok is decently bulky by gen 3 standards and can intimidate, glare, and swap out. Include toxic after Koga. Doesnt help for misty though.

Route 24 is a crap shoot, hope for Abra imo. Bellsprout or Oddish evolve at Misty's cap so if you get them then they'll help for her but they're kinda dead ends especially since you've got a bunch of status setters already, and they don't even get leech seed. Probably do it after route 5 and 6 because theres a good chance you get the grass mon and Pidgey there and get them out of your pool for Abra.

You also have access to route 5, 6, 11, the old rod, and Diglett. If you make it by mt. Moon you can basically make a new team.
>>
>>59517935
Also, use Old Rod at the SS Anne dock, save Vermillion for when you get the Good and Super Rods.
>>
>>59518044
This is a slick tip I never thought about. I knew that that dock had its own location listing if you caught Pokemon there but I had it filed under weird Pokemon trivia and hadn't made the connection to how that's useful in nuzlocke. Thanks anon.
>>
>>59516726
STAB Headbutt plus badge boost makes a lot of mons better in gen 2 than they would be elsewhere. It is nice.

I decided to reroll the ability because Battle Bond is honestly too broken on Slaking if Vigoroth survives that long. So his ability is how Power Spot, which is kind of a non-ability, but will actually come in handy if it can survive all the way to the blueberry academy which is all double battles.
>>
>>59519221
I hope you don't feel bullied, it was your good luck. It was just a monster that would've trivialized the game.
>>
>>59519423
It was just an honest decision. Even thought there isn't any return to spam, bulk up + battle bond would have probably OHKO most of the game with drain punch, sucker punch, and play rough.

I think power spot slaking is more honest and will make for interesting play in blueberry doubles hell.

I'm coming up to the rival fight at Silph Co. now. I've done every other fight up to this point and plan on taking every member of the team as it is now to the League. This is the first game I'm doing in a full series (well up to B2W2 anyway) generation-locke, meaning any pokemon I make champs in this game will be unusable going forward in all future games. I still think the team I've put together is obscure yet awesome enough that I can be okay with only using these guys in this game, well, as long as everything goes according to plan.

This is Japanese Red btw and I'm doing a generations-locke. Its a good thign that I don't mind Kanto because I still have to play it over a half a dozen times. Next game is Japanese Green, then US RBY, Then if I don't want to kms by then I'll do gen 2. I'm interested in seeing who I have left to use by the time I get done with Kanto.

I'll post more in-depth team posts for the future games, but this one was just kind of a trial run for the whole generations thing, so now that its a go I'm gonna post here more regularly. Good luck everybody, this has been an incredibly fun run so far personally, even though I've lost quite a few bros (almost exclusively due to my own carelessness).
>>

Continuing my RU restricted randomizer random ability blind playthrough of Scarlet.

Passimian deleted Titan Kwalf
Dusknoir Fire punched Brassius' whole team to death (Cud Chew healing with Oran berry actually supporting it like crazy throughout the match

RNGesus blessed me with
>Long Reach Buizel
>PRIMORDIAL SEA ARTICUNO (kantonian)
Only thing that sucks is that weather ball is locked behind the DLC. But a fire immunity on Articuno and the prospect of perfectly accurate hurricanes in the future is big! Also its tera electric!

Dusknoir also Ice Punched Titan Bombirdier to death because it had no actual dark type moves.
Hitmonlee cleaved through Giacomo's base and starmobile. However something I don't think i've ever seen stated anywhere is that the starmobile was immune to flinch despite its ability being intimidate. So I wasted a turn with fake out and got spooked by metal sound and then swift. But High Jump Kick put it down.

Then HOLY FUCK the NPCs on the path to Levincia city if you go around the Team Star Fire base (because their ace is level 27 and Iono is 24) were higher than expected.

One trainer with a level 26 Tinted Lens Lokix almost U-turned my whole team to death. Dusknoir barely survived with Cud Chew Sitrus berry recovery to fire punch it to death.

Finally Iono. Tera-electric Articuno chewed through her team until tera-electric Mismagius. Fake Out + High Jump Kick squared it away.

>>59520343
Then RNG went against me with my next two catches
>Contrary Porygon Z
>Costar Klefki

I didn't even know what the fuck Costar even was. Also Porygon Z doesn't learn any stat lowering moves and contrary actually blocks me from using charge beam. I guess its good for reversing any stat drops?

Onward to Team Star Fire camp, where Well-Baked Body Passimian and Primordial Sea Articuno will make it trivial.

Gotta watch out for these varying level NPC trainers and Tera wilds. Had to Pokedoll a level 50 jolteon I ran into.

Began my Pokemon Emerald nuzlocke this morning. It's been a bit of a rocky start though. Here is my team.

>Combusken
>Zigzagoon
>Electrike

Unfortunately I keep fucking up on my encounters and killing them but I did managed to beat 3 gym leaders within six hours of playing the game so that's something.

Any advice for gym leader Flannery since I don't have any water types?
>>
>>59529188
Maybe rock tomb on combusken for speed drop and super effective hits on other fire types? Also bulk up possibly. Good luck, I remember Flannery in particular being a challenging bottlencek for my past nuzlockes.

As for me, I'm the guy playing Japanese Red. My team is >>59524863 and I still haven't decided if I want to train more or just go for it against the rival fight before the Pokemon League. I looked up his team (I picked bulbasaur but he died, RIP) and his starter in particular is very scary. A Charizard with Slash and Flamethrower that is 10 levels higher than my highest level currently is nothing to shrug off, but I really really hate grinding. I would also hate losing a team member this far into it so I guess I'll just train a little bit more or cheat with the rare candies I've been pocketing all game (6 on me). I just wanna end this nuzlocke so I can move on to Green and start anew. This one's getting kinda stale desu. Not much longer now as long as I don't mess it up here at the end.

Bros...

I'm actually having a fuckin mental breakdown over this children's game.

They're gone. They're all gone. Every member taken out by A FUCKING VICTREEBEL IN VICTORY ROAD. I actually want to fucking kill myself right now. All that time wasted. WHY? FUCKING WHY?!

I'm gonna say fuck it to the Japanese games and just do English RBY now. I was trying to be fun but I'm just sick to my stomach now. I have to at least take a break before I fucking break something.

Its sucks so fucking bad that I was so close to the end, but I'm sticking to my original challenge of all gen 1 games (except for Japanese Yellow) and DAMN IT I INTEND TO COMPLETE IT.

New starter, even harder than the last. Let's do this. Viridian City already.

Okay, so I guess I need to explain a little bit about the conditions surrounding that shitshow so it doesn't look like I just went Helen Keller on the game...

I'm playing with my own little 'hardcore' ruleset that I didn't show in the pics, but basically just adds no items in battle and battle style SET, adding much more difficulty and challenge to every run. I hadn't healed leading up to this trainer with Bellsprout (lol), Weepinbell, and Victreebel. I didn't think much of it until I got to the Victreebel and realized I had no safe switch-ins. Through an agonizingly slow combination of crit razor leaf, poison powder, sleep[ powder, and wrap (FUCKING WRAP GOD DAMN IT TO HELL) I got annihilated. I hate myself so much for not just healing before that trainer, but I had no idea it would snowball into a complete loss. Damn damn damn.
Word to the wise: Victory Road in gen 1 is no joke. Bunch of random pokes that can end the run right there. Be wary.
Anyway, I'm gonna take on the rt 22 rival now. I'm not wasting any time with this fuckin run this time.

So I was away on Friday and then work the weekend, so I didn't have time to update this while I kept playing.

Highlights reel
>Lost Ragnarok to the asshole on 115 with the Zangoose Slash crit
>Flannery was taken care of by Naga and Kai
>Norman was a team effort by everyone, but Revali was pre-poisoned and took out the 1st Slaking on his own with silk scarf'd Return
>Winona was primarily Ceres, with help from Kai and Sidon to take care of the Altaria
>Tate and Liza were a joke
>Wallace was primarily Ceres, but was also a team effort to carefully play around thw Whiscash which again, Naga's weird TM access allowed for Giga Drain KO

Revali is going to be of no use in the E4/Champion fight and I've determined Jazz will be replacing his spot on the team. Revali has done amazing work where needed, but if we're going to succeed, we're gonna need Jazz.

Also I have more boxed mons but none of them are worth adding because other than Jazz replacing Revali, no one else really fits what I need for the final battles.

I got everyone through, and because I EV trained the speed on my Butterfree, I got the Abra on Route 25, though I killed the Pidgey on Route 24 (I swear I'm never getting that dumb bird)

Continuing my RU restricted randomizer random ability blind playthrough of Scarlet.

Team Star Fire Camp was deleted by Well-baked body Passimian.
Hitmonlee Deleted Titan Orthoworm
Loaded Dice Torterra cleaved through the Cascarrafa Gym.

Had one encounter with a level 38 trainer out of nowhere while the level cap was 36 and I was still grinding, but Chud Chew Sitrus Berry Dusknoir was able to chip it to death their pokemon while tanking hits

Team Star Poison was as a bit of a challenge. While Torterra Earthquake deleted the first 3 mon, it took significant chip damage that he couldn't face the Starmobile. I switched to Passimian and did some damage with Bulldoze, but it was chipping me to death with Spin out. Finally switched in Dusknoir who chipped it back to death, surviving on Cud Chew Sitrus berries.

Larry was a non-issue with all my fighting types, but I had passimian U-turn on his Staraptor after getting intimidated to Dusknoir who chipped it to death with thunder punch.

I was surprised by Nemona being back-to-back after Larry, but managed to deal with her fairly easy with Primordial Sea Articuno walling off her skeledirge.

My 4 new gets from the last two gyms were
>Sniper Ambipom
>Dauntless Shield Houndoom
>Sheer Force Dunsparce
>Fairy Aura Tsareena

Out of all of those, I think Sheer Force Dunsparce could be a a sleeper. If I can just find a Life Orb it could be a special monster with 150BP flamethrower, thunderbolt, ice beam, and Earth Power for perfect coverage with great bulk if I evolve it to Dudunsparce.

3 Gyms, 2 Star Bases, and 2 titans to go for the main game.

I've got a new and exciting twist on the Nuzlocke formula, I call it Nutzlocke. Basically it's a regular Nuzlocke except every time one of your Pokémon dies, you have to punch yourself in the nuts as hard as possible. If you're not sterile by the time you enter the Hall of Fame, you win.

Training for the E4 going well, everyone is at least level 50. Tomorrow will be finding any last Rare Candies and probably getting almost everyone to 55 or close to it. Gus doesn't need to be 55, he only has one job and that's Sidney, and then he'll have nothing else to do for the remaining fights.

Sidon will be handling Phoebe and Drake, but Naga and Kai are backup if necessary respectively.

Ceres is handling Glacia. and then Steven, well, I have a play in mind, but I hope the next update means that it worked and my team are champions.

My plan is to take my champions + Revali up through the gens, and see how they improve with better mechanics/moves/etc. And hopefully Revali will get to participate in a league or two, cause I cannot understate this bird's value to the journey.

Wish me and my team luck!

Colress proved a far, far greater challenge...
>Vs Colress
>Magneton
It Volt Switches, letting in Rotom, as Piper sets up Stealth Rock(to handle Sturdy on later mons). I expected Flash Cannon, honestly.
>Rotom
It fires off a Hydro Pump that sends Piper into the red, I did not actually expect that, but Piper gets an Encore off.
I send in Pennybags on another Hydro Pump.
Another Hydro Pump activates Cursed Body as Pennybags uses Will-O-Wisp.
Rotom struggles into the Rocky Helmet, and Hex finishes it off.
>Magnezone
I send Gheb in on Thunderbolt, taking no damage.
Magnezone fires off a Hyper Beam, but falls to Earth Power.
>Beheeyem
I send in Madison in on Energy Ball.
The next three turns have both sides using Calm Mind.
Madison fires off a Shadow Ball, Beheeyem fires back with Psychic.
Another Shadow Ball ends it.
>Klinklang
I send in Zhang He in on Wild Charge, and knock Klinklang out with Close Combat.
>Metagross
I send Gheb in on Rock Slide.
Metagross uses Zen Headbutt, and Gheb ChestoRests.
Two turns of Zen Headbutt and Earth Power, and Metagross falls.
>Magneton
It uses Tri Attack, but falls to Earth Power.
I had to play a bit risky, Tri Attack at the end would have killed with a crit.

Well, the strategy for Steven Stone worked. Everything went super well!

>Sidney
Gus cleaned up Sidney with a White Herb attached, so not even Mightyena's intimidate bothered him. He did go in at 52 because I forgot about Intimidate and didn't trust the range potentially. Absol came in second and just went for Snatch, weirdly.

>Phoebe
was a mostly clean sweep by Sidon with Crunch, 2 shots for Sableye, surprisingly he could not kill the final Dusclops and he had too much damage from Sableye's previous Shadow Ball to trust EQ damage, so Kai came in and finished up with Surf

>Glacia
This was sloppy. First Glalie did not die to Ceres Tbolt as I had hoped, so it got damage off with Ice Beam. I had Protect though so I thought it would attack again but instead it sets up Hail. Great, now we've got chip damage in play. Kill the Glalie and out comes Sealeo 1. Kill with Tbolt. Sealeo 2, Tbolt as well. Glalie 2, hail still hasn't gone down and if Ceres couldn't get the kill on Glalie 1, there's no way she can kill this one. So out comes Kai again to clean up. Ice beam, Kai is fine, hail goes down. But Kai can't get the kill so Glalie 2 sets up another round of hail. Luckily wasn't in range of Full Restore so Kai kills it.

Walrein. Whiffs not 1, not 2, BUT FOUR BLIZZARDS in a row. And all the while Kai can't get the EQ KO he needs so she full restores twice. Blizzard 5 connects and puts Kai down to 5 HP, but hail has gone down by this point so he lives to finally EQ that damn walrus to death. If not for her whiffing on Blizzard (which isn't 100% accurate in hail this gen, what??), we'd have lost here.

>Drake
Sidon just swept everything, Shelgon threw right away without going for its usual Protect shenanigans.

cont.d...
>>
>Steven
The one I had to think about for a long time and determined his Aggron was the weakest link to execute my plan on. So first Ceres leads to Tbolt KO Skarm. I wait to see what comes out next. Surprisingly, it's Aggron ready to EQ my electric pup. Time to execute the plan I guess.

Switch to Jazz to bait Thunder.
Switch to Kai to absorb Thunder.
Switch to Ceres expecting Giga Drain next.....goes for EQ. Ceres lives though in the yellow, thank god. Okay, so back to Jazz on the next EQ.

Switch between Jazz and Kai until Thunder PP is gone, and EQ PP is spent too, so it's all safe to carry on. Jazz has been specially trained in Sp Def, helped by her Calm nature too, exactly for this moment. She attracts Aggron, immobilizing it for three turns in a row, to set up 3 Swords Dances, and meanwhile Speed Boost is also going off. Baton Pass to Kai and he takes a Dragon Claw fine.

Surf the Aggron to its death, out comes Cradily. This is why I need 3 SDs, to EQ Cradily to its death or else Kai is dead to Giga Drain from this thing.

EQ hits, and kills Cradily.
Next is Claydol, Surf kills it.
Then Metagross. EQ is guaranteed KO on it.
Last is Armaldo who gets swept away by a nice strong Surf.

The original plan was to BP into Naga who had Earthquake but without STAB, I questioned if he had the strength to do it. Still, Naga came along as a backup check to Phoebe if Sidon needed help.

what a blast. Now the team plus Revali move up to Johto via HG to take on the Johto League! The following leagues I'm not going to have nuzlocke rules in play, but I will still be following the usual no items in battle and such.

I uh. I don't know why this worked out like it did.
BW's starting area's are so restrictive even compared your to RB. You can have up to 9 unique monsters available to be caught before Brock, meanwhile before the Trio you can only have 5, and of course RBY has 5 catching spots before Brock and BW has only 4, two of which are gift spots, while only one of RBY's is a gift. You don't want to talk about Type combinations available to the player.
I last played BW 2 years ago nearly on the dot, I remember basically none of it. Though apparently I ran with Lady Lily both times for Snivy.
I was almost vaporized by crits several times on my way to the Trio, especially during the N jumpscare. Leer was getting it's reps in today. The second gym trainer, hit Adm. Holdo with a crit while using Bide, meaning I need to start a Bide box even here, then proceeded to nearly wipe my team while in a chip war. I only won because of gambling Lady Lily would get hit with a low roll on the final turn. (Literally 1 hp left).
The Trio was surprisingly easy considering my refusal of the gross gift ape, Gertrude lowed the enemy Liliup by 4 stages of defense before one shotting him with Tackle, Pansear got only three stages lowered before getting vaporized too.
Having set-up moves introduced when they are at their statistically worst is such an odd decision that goes through the entire series, and of course Odor Slueth being a move the player has access to at level 5 in a game with 1 ghost type is insane.

Alright, so, I've been learning alot about nuzlocking gen 1 that I didn't know before these last couple of nuzlockes. That being said, I am quite upset that in my quest to grind up as much as possible before Misty I inadvertantly killed my Rattata. And at only 2 levels from evolving as well, I think unless you get Rattata at a higher level than single digits you might as well pass in this game. It takes WAY too much experience to level up for one of the very first fucking things you encounter in the game. I don't think I'm gonna be using a Rattata again in gen 1 unless I absolutely have to. It's just not worth the time and effort, especially when it dies to the slightest special attack. I mean a fuckin water gun from Staryu, bro? And like I said, it was all to train up as much as possible before Misty and after Rat died I just said fuck it and went for it, Pulled out Oddish from box and went in dry ( he had absolutely no prior training) and FRESHLY CAUGHT ODDISH took out Misty's Staryu. That moment made me realize I wasted my time grinding, especially in regard to Rattata.

I mostly wanted to make sure I at least had Twineedle on Beedrill or I feared I'd be swept by Starmie. Luckily it was way easier than I took it for and now I have my second badge and half of the S.S. Anne done, but eh. Shit like that takes me out of it quite a bit. RIP Cheese Nip. 2 damn levels from evolution...

Oddish is shaping up to be a solid member of the team, but I still wish I had Rattata. The funny little coincidence of losing my Rattata on the S.S. Anne when there's all the theories about the Rival's Raticate dying is not lost on me. Speaking of Rival, I just beat him along with clearing the rest of the boat and getting the HM for Cut. I still haven't decided who I want to teach it to, as its either gonna be Oddish or some other dedicated HM Slave. I'm tempted to trade my Spearow for a Farfetch'd in Vermilion since a) its the only pokemon besides mew in the game that can learn both cut and fly, which will be useful later on, and b) I fucking love Farfetch'd. I would use him in battle, but I might just have to pick him up for the morale boost alone. Kanto gets pretty dreary to me around this part of the game, and some unique team members could liven up the game, but the back and forth between the box menus to swap in and out HM users can be tedious, so I'm tempted to just give it to Oddish. Idk though, does anyone have any input on whether gloom will miss having a 4th move or does it not matter as much in this gen?

Anyway, teleported back to Cerulean for now (god I love teleport so much), and got the bike. Now I'm gonna take a break and think about what I want to do or where I want to go next. Do I fight the 3rd gym right away or do I come back to it later? Hmm... any and all input on the questions I've raised would be greatly appreciate.

Good luck to you all on you nuzlockes.

I've played white before, which I assume is the same as black. Sex, nature, and IVs are determined after you click OK upon typing out your name. So if you click Yes to the professor's question, you're locked into Sex, nature, and IVs. If you click No to her question, you go back to the name screen. However, doing this only "shifts" the Sex/Nature/IVs "up" 1. For IVs, this isn't bad. But for Sex+nature, it seems they are paired together like in some earlier games. You might have to have to say No like 5 times before the Sex+nature changes to a new set. But if you get a F, unless you're at the end of the set, you're guaranteed F until the set changes.

I remember spending like 30 min figuring this out
>>
>>59541286
No it's decided when you select the monster
>>
>>59533185
>BW's starting area's are so restrictive
Yeah I think the developers did that to limit the new player from having too many options to think about. A lot of thought and decision making seemed to be, "how do we teach a newcomer how to play this game well?".

>Having set-up moves introduced when they are at their statistically worst
Idk what you mean, the set up moves are only (+/-)1. A (-1)def leer will only reduce the number of #HKO by 1, so it's only real value is to set up THE NEXT pokemon. If you look at the movesets of all the pokes you can get, there's a ton of balance. Pidove gets both growl+leer, Pan[monk] only gets leer, Patrat gets Detect+Sand_attack+Leer, Tepig/Osha gets Flame_Charge/Razor_shell @ like lev_15 while Servine gets OP Leech_seed @ like lev_20

The pokemon's abilities were well thought out too. Vital_spirit on Lillipup is for Yawn/Hypnosis on Munna/Watchog. Or as Herdier you can use Intimidate. Purrloin resists dark moves like Crunch/Bite which are gonna be common, and gets Unburden to up it's speed (useful for 2nd gym).

The basic strats the developers intended were
1. Use a few pokes so exp goes to leveling them up high
2. Use many pokes requiring set-up moves and working together
3. Focus on Type-advantages to optimize gameplay
4. Use abilities to your advantage
5. Use battle/bag items whenever needed
6. Grind when needed
Now this is obvious for all games, but it was really pushed here

As for Oder_Sleuth, it's like 99% because they wanted a do-nothing move for when you battle trainers, so there's a chance they do nothing against you. It wasn't for you to use yourself.

BW is great
>>
>>59541457
Staying alive is less efficent at lower levels even ignoring the fact that move power increases
A level 100 Tepig vs a level 100 Lilpup in BW
Ember would deal 18.6 - 22.5%
Fire Blast would deal 55.8 - 66.2%
A level 5 Tepig vs a level 5 Lilpup in BW
Ember would deal 25 - 33.3%
Fire Blast would deal 58.3 - 75%
Set-up moves are less valuable when things die faster anyway.
>>
>>59537880
How many status moves do you even need? Vileplume gets petal dance, a status move, and what else do you really need on it? Mega drain? Substitute?

Look at the Indigo Plateaue teams and see what movesets you pokemon would need to defeat them all. Use Kinglercalc to see how many levels and if they die. On a guess, I'd say Cut is fine but check for yourself.

I wanna still do 1 pokemon per route on my SoulSilver playthrough but i want to select which one I get, and in exchange, I'm limiting myself to having no status or healing items being allowed and being limited to 7 heals at the pokemon center between gyms.
I just don't wanna use mons I don't think are badass so I want to impose a hard pokemon center limit as penance

Ok finalized ruleset idea here

Not really gonna alternate, I just played this while waiting for the N fight to become available.
I can go for the League Rematch and finish W2 now that he's down.

Compound Eyes Hitmonlee is actually kind of crazy.
You already have High Jump Kick and Blaze Kick 100% accurate, but you'll be able to get stone edge too late game. Only problem I see is that you only have 1 special attacker in articuno. Physical walls might be a problem once you get to kitakami.

Played late at night today. My team has not changed.

>Blaziken
>Azumarill
>Manectric
>Mightyena
>Crobat
>Vibrava

Only new pokemon I caught was Spheal that could make a good backup pokemon. Don't feel like fishing in every water route just to get the same pokemon that might even be underrlevelled.

I just beat the gym leaders of Mossdeep City Tate and Liza and it was fucking hard because it's a double battle. I took alot of damage but I had Azumarill defeat Xatu with Ice Beam while Vibrava beat Claydol with Crunch, then I had Mightyena come out and beat Lunatone with Bite while Manectric beat Solrock with Bite too. I healed alot.

Now that's out of the way, any advice for the final gym leader Juan?
>>
>>59545891
Good idea. I've wanted to do that before where I just pick whatever I want.
>>
>>59545891
To me, removing one of the two core rules makes a run no longer a Nuzlocke. Having those two is fundamental since they were the og rules. That said, your run, so if you want to do it go for it.
>>
>>59545891
As the other guy said, it doesn't feel like a real nuzlocke, but imo it's just a name. Enjoy the game however you like, to whatever difficulty you desire
>>
>>59545891
You can get super specific about what you encounter with the dupes clause anyway, why rob yourself of the fun of figuring it out? What Pokemon do you want? I'm pretty sure you can game SoulSilver more than almost every other game.

That's all gym leaders done.

My team hasn't changed but I did catch a Rayquaza, I'm thinking of putting on the team since Mightyena isn't all that great.

As for how I beat Sootopolis Gym Leader Juan. Manectric took out his Luvdisc with Spark while Crobat used Fly to deal with the Whiscash, Blaziken used Double Kick on both Sealeo and Crawdaunt and of course Manectric used Thunder Wave to slow down Kingdra and used Spark to kill it. Now that's out of the way, all that's now is grinding and the elite four.

Any advice for the elite four and champion?

>Vs Caitlin
>Musharna
Gheb gets yawned at, but Thunder Waves it in return.
Another yawn fails, and Gheb uses Earth Power and falls asleep.
Luciana then comes in on Dream Eater
Luciana Encores Dream Eater.
Madison is switched in on said encored move.
Thanks to Encore, Madison gets some Calm Minds in before falling asleep to Yawn.
A few Charge Beams and Full Paralysis from Musharna follows, but Madison wakes up eventually and Roosts off the damage before Shadow Balling Musharna
>Reuniclus
>Sigilyph
>Gothitelle
All of these fall to Shadow Ball
>Gallade
Psychic oneshot.
>Metagross
Metagross hits for close to half HP with Bullet Punch, while Shadow Ball hits hard enough to put Metagross well into the range of it eating its Sitrus Berry.
Worrying about a Bullet Punch Crit, I swap out Madison for Pennybags, disabling Bullet Punch with Cursed Body.
Metagross uses Zen Headbutt, and Scald puts it deep in the red. Mistake from my side - I should have gone for the stronger Shadow Ball.
Predicting the obvious Full Restore, I go for Will-O-Wisp to guarantee the win.
Metagross tries to Zen Headbutt to win, but it falls to three Shadow Balls.
(Madison reaches Level 73 during battle)

>Vs Shauntal
>Cofagrigus
I use Pennybags to start with, to bait a move to encore.
I then immediately swap to Luciana on the Shadow Ball, Encoring it next turn.
Luciana wastes a turn with Charm, then sets Light Screen as Encore ends.
Another Encore makes Shadow Ball the move of choice for Shauntal still.
Zhang He in on the encored Shadow Ball.
Zhang He Sword Dances, and encore ends.
Another Swords Dance, and Cofagrigus uses Will-O-Wisp(but a Rawst Berry handles it).
Shadow Claw wipes it out.
>Golurk
Falls ot Shadow Claw
>Froslass
Froslass for some reason uses Shadow Ball despite it being ineffective, then falls to Shadow Claw.
This has to be something to do with the Easy mode AI, right?
>Drifblim
>Chandelure
>Mismagius
They all fall to Shadow Claw.
(Zhang he reaches Level 80 during battle)
>>
>Vs Grimsley
>Liepard
It uses Fake Out with its Normal Gem... on Rocky Helmet Piper.
It then fails a Sucker Punch as Stealth Rock is set up.
Another Sucker Punch fail, and Piper uses Encore.
Zhang He comes in and sets up 3 Sword Dances thanks to Encore, but also gets Attracted.
While he is taking minimal damage from the Aerial Aces, Love makes sure Zhang He takes a ton of damage from the ridiculous amount of hits he takes before getting to use Return(Leftovers turned out to be really important...).
(Zhang He reaches 81)
>Scrafty
>Houndoom
>Krookodile
Close Combat oneshots each one in turn.
>Honchkrow
It falls to Return.
(Zhang He reaches 82)
>Bisharp
Close Combat closes it out.
Note: I put Psychic on Pennybags instead of Shadow Ball here.
>Vs Marshal
>Throh
Throh hits Piper with Stone Edge before Piper sets up Stealth Rock.
Another Stone Edge, and Piper uses Encore.
Pennybags comes in on the encored Stone Edge.
Then a bunch of Recovers and Psychic meet Payback once Encore wears off.
>Lucario
I send Gheb in on Shadow Ball(which causes a Sp Def drop).
Lucario fires off an Aura Sphere, but falls to Earth Power.
>Conkeldurr
I send Pennybags in on Earthquake.
Will-O-Wisp burns Conkeldurr as it uses Earthquake again.
Pennybags Recovers as another Earthquake is used.
Pennybags then drops Conkeldurr's Special Defense with Psychic, also activating the Sitrus berry. Conkeldurr Bulks Up.
Another Psychic gets the knockout.
>Medicham
Medicham keeps using Thunder Punch but thanks to being Will-O-Wisped, can't beat Pennybags who uses Scald and Recover. Marshall uses a Full Restore on it, but it just starts the process over. Eventually, Medicham fall to Scald.
>Sawk
It uses Stone Edge, which gets Curse Bodied, then gets Will-O-Wisped.
Sawk uses Poison Jab twice as Pennybags Recovers and then Psychics.
However, it is the burn damage that does Sawk in.
(Jellicent to 73)
>Mienshao
Two turns of Acrobatics and Psychic, and Pennybags stands triumphant.
>>
File: Iris W2.png (1.16 MB, 1634x1316)
1.16 MB PNG
>Iris
>Hydreigon
Expert Belt Zhang He oneshots with Close Combat.
>Druddigon(Life Orb)
Expecting Pennybags to be able to tank it pretty well, I swap him in.
Turns out I should have respected Life Orb Druddigon more, as Outrage does more than half. I panic somewhat.
I send Piper in, intending to abuse the bulk, rest and Rocky Helmet. But Druddigon scores an Outrage crit, sending Piper into almost single digits before becoming confused.
At this point, I sadly realize sacrificing Piper here is the best option. I try Stealth Rock but Outrage ends the teammate who has been on this team the longest first...
Luciana comes in next to avenge her, and Tail Slap takes Druddigon out with just two hits.
(Zhang He reaches 83)
>Aggron
Luciana Charms it, and it Autotomizes.
It then uses Double-Edge, which Luciana Encores.
This allows Pennybags back in to Recover.
Scald gets Aggron into the red and Burns it, and after a Stone Edge, the burn damage KOs Aggron.
>Lapras
Luciana back in on a Thunder Miss.
Luciana Encores it, then gets hit by Thunder.
Gheb gets to come in for free on Thunder.
A Thunderbolt Crit saves me more issues with the Lapras(I would have likely have needed to do some switch shenanigans).
>Haxorus(Focus Sash)
Not getting Stealth Rock up before it comes in sucks.
Pennybags comes in in on Dragon Dance.
Haxorus uses Outrage for big damage. Will-O-Wisp burns Haxorus.
I am once again in a bad spot - none of my mons seem all that safe to send in even with burn, so I sacrifice Pennybags, hoping for Cursed Body to disable Outrage. It doesn't.
Zhang He comes in, gets hit with Outrage which does over half even with the burn before getting Confused, which I probably should have seen coming. Zhang He is now very much at risk of also falling because I got greedy for a Swords Dance.
Haxorus luckily hits itself, letting Return get the KO.
>Archeops
Gheb comes in on a Stone Edge Miss.
He shrugs off a Dragon Claw, and finishes the run in style with a Thunderbolt Crit.

Lost Piper and Pennybags, and honestly I should probably have lost Zhang He as well.
Rematch Iris is really nasty.
Most of my mons put in really good work to get the win this time, too, noone was dead weight.

please help me. i haven't played a mainline game since sapphire and recently got a good deal on scarlet+dlc so I bought it for switch 2. I like it, but this is so mind numbingly easy.
I decided to do a monotype grass run since I thought that would be fun to pretend to be a gym leader and offer a good challenge. But after easily beating the bug gym and the sky titan I'm having my doubts. Will a grass mono run ever get difficult, I heard the second dlc is hard?

Kind of a late response here, but there are several boss fights with full on health bars, titan Pokémon and Team Star, and i do believe the second dlc ramps up the difficulty.

We're champions, baby! After grinding off and on for a bit, I entered the League with everyone at Lv. 47.

>Will
Will was pretty easy. Grimace the Jynx was able to one-shot both Xatu and Exeggutor while whittling down Will's own Jynx with Lovely Kiss and Nightmare. Slowbro cause a bit of an issue with its bulk and lucky one-turn sleeps. Lulu the Lanturn had to hit a Thunder and paralyze it to help Grimace get past it.
>Koga
Koga was even easier. Gudboi the Arcanine swept the whole team. Crit Ember on Ariados, Ember on Forretress, two Headbutts through Minimize on Muk, Headbutts and Bite against Crobat and its Double Teaming shenanigans, and a Fire Blast on Venomoth.
>Bruno
This fight didn't go so well. Dreven the Crobat dealt with Hitmontop just fine with Wing Attack and then I brought out Thallan the Meganium against Onix. The foe was able to summon Sandstorm while I put up Reflect and then finished it with Razor Leaf. Hitmonchan was next and took a Body Slam from Thallan while hitting back with Fire Punch. Thallan was getting worn down, so I switched back to Dreven. Dreven took down Hitmonchan, but not before getting burned by Fire Punch on the switch-in. Machamp hit Dreven with a Rock Slide that left Dreven with 6HP, only taking about a third from Wing Attack due to the burn. Lulu came to the rescue, but she got cut down by two Cross Chops. Grimace finished Machamp with Ice Punch. Hitmonlee was last and Gudboi Headbutt it to death while keeping his composure against the enemy's Swagger.
>Karen
Dreven put in the most work against Karen. Her Umbreon only got one Feint Attack in while hurting itself in confusion from Dreven's Confuse Ray as Dreven wore it down with Return. Gengar put a Curse on Dreven, but we pushed through with Bite, and then toughed through Murkrow with more Returns. Gudboi finished the battle with Headbutts against Houndoom and a Fire Blast against Vileplume.
>>
>>59557201
>Lance
Without Lulu to take advantage of Gyarados's Rain Dance, I led with Thallan and set up dual screens. Three Body Slams were enough to take it down while it did little damage with Surf and Flail. Lance's Blizzard Dragonite came out next and I reset my screens while it paralyzed me with Thunder Wave (Thallan was holing a Miracle Berry). I switched Grimace into a Blizzard and KO'd the Dragonite with Ice Punch. Against Charizard, I swapped to Gudboi and bonked it down with Headbutts, getting beat down into the yellow. Aerodactyl came out next and with no good switch-ins I hit two Dragon Breaths before Gudboi fell to Rock Slide. Mocha the Furret makes his debut and Defense Curls after a Hyper Beam to get ready for Rollout. Mocha crushes Aerodactyl and Thunder Dragonite before getting beat by the final Dragonite's Outrage. He might have lived if had given him a PRZCure Berry, but in any case, Grimace finishes the battle with Ice Punch.
Johto is over, but Kanto still remains. Even in the older titles, it seems Johto's Pokemon League gives me the most issues and it feels like I get by on the razor's edge. I'm sad about the ones that perished (particularly Mocha), but time moves on and I'd like to wrap up Kanto and Red with enough time to do shiny hunting before the Bank shutdown. My next post will probably be once I beat all the gyms in Kanto.
>>
after a long break, I'm gonna try my luck with a VERY slow and casual run of leafgreen
>Lv. 11 Squirtle
>Lv. 9 Pikachu
>Lv. 8 Metapod
>Lv. 4 Rattata
>Lv. 4 Pidgey
let's see if I can get past misty this time
>>
>>59557494
Pikachu will carry you anon, no worries.
>>
>>59550986
If you grind up close to champion levels, the level difference and type advantage should carry you through Sidney and Phoebe at least, maybe Glacia as well. Rayquaza probably trivializes everyone but Wallace thanks to level difference alone.

>"It's been a while since my last run, I should pick up another one. I think I was gonna do HG next."
I said to myself before booting up HG and seeing was already in the middle of said run. Maybe I'm turning senile, would explain how I play sometimes. Anyway I've got a pretty interesting team going on, never used the Aipom line before and rarely get to use Scyther in nuzlockes so picking the run up again was fun. Decided to evolve Mesmer into Politoed despite their nature because I could use a special attacker more than a fighting type.
Unfortunately I underestimated Eugene's Electrode and ended up losing Aloe the Gloom, which makes me regret not evolving him as well. Makes me realise my team doesn't really have any answers to electric types, but I also don't have any available so I bring in Mustard the Koffing instead to bring in some defense (and because I like Koffing).
Oh yeah and Preacher the Scyther took 3 wing attacks to beat Chuck. Technician is still busted at this point in the game.

>>59557494
Good luck! Squirtle should carry you through the start and Pikachu is a very nice early catch, keep him safe and he'll pay off.

>>59557201
>>59557208
Good job! Sad to see Mocha go down, sucks when an early game mon goes down right at the end. I always dread fighting Lance in johto games, fighting three dragonites below level 50 is just scary, especially not knowing if you're facing Blizzard or Thunder.
Are you gonna fill those three slots or just push through for Kanto?

Damn, this sucks man. I think skipping Misty then coming back later is a real viable strategy. At least you lost pretty early. Are you going to run it back?
