>>59487147A furbait is a good choice, particularly a feminine or androgynous one. Masculine furbait, like Urshifu or Incineroar, probably wouldn't look too out of place next to Machoke and Hitmonchan, but for feminine furbait (think Zeroara or Meowscarda), the closest you get is probably Nidoqueen or Kangkskahn >>59487230Incineroar might fit in just fine with Machoke and Poliwrath. Rotom Phone might be the best suggestion for this prompt though. Out of place in the tech era of gen 1 makes it stand out, and it's closest relative would be Magnemite.>>59487411They already had Jynx, so Espathra would fit right in.
>>59487119Im going to go with Eternatus.Gen 1 Pokemon are pretty simple in their designs, and focus primarily on having a strong identifiable silhouette. The most complicated mon as far as messing with that is probably Tentacruel. This level of granular design simply could not exist until like Gen 4 at the earliest, and this plays more into the strengths of the 3D era of pokemon vs sprites.

>>59487119Honestly almost ANYTHING after gen 3, maybe even 4 (Legendaries aside).
>>59487521>(Legendaries aside)If anything, I think legendaries have changed the quickest from the original 4 or 5 in gen 1.Legendaries were originally such simple designs that a design like Corviknight could have plausibly been "Ironcuatro" and the same level of Zapdos if released in Gen 2.Even something like Rayquaza would look out of place in this group.
>>59487521Anything after gen 1 and before and after gen 3 desu

Ive personally submitted bug reports and feature requests and the madman got through it in a dayThis uses the disassemblyMissingno and other similar glitches also do not work because of how memory access works in Recomp There is a save editor. Although I find it pointless if you have two devices because you can trade over lan.Existing romhacks dont work with it. Only the base game. So what sort of mods are you guys working on? Atm i'm playing around/building a sort of avatar changer/soft trainer class system to spice up my playthroughs. Basically you can choose to roleplay as one of the in-game NPC trainer class types like Hiker, Bug Catcher, Beauty, Fisherman, Dragon Tamer, and etc. Nothing big but I always love trainer class theme runs and using char sprites that match the trainer class just helps with the immersion of doing that for me.
Sharing here since it doesn't seem to have been published anywhere else : Moemon sprite replacement :https://mega.nz/file/GZ1RHBDI#31e4yUKTq3d2xw2yg06xhRhRHeknt0xho_40lZhB1ZgMy modified version :https://mega.nz/file/7AEzEKYa#N75pCDxIWkU2VHwhq_1K96-tIeQpVVYw7I58rj1G3eUThis was posted early on in their Discord but got nuked like a day after because someone threw a hissy fit and deemed it to be CP or something retarded like that (this is what happens when you centralize your mod distribution on a fucking chat program), I managed to grab it beforehand though. The modified version is just me changing some sprites to my taste :-Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan, Tauros, Nidoran line (original ones too homo, not playing Moemon for the dudes)-Snorlax (original too bodypositive for my taste)-Jynx (just found this one cuter)Alternate sprites are either from older Moemon hacks or their own sprite repository. The assets are just specially named 64x64 transparent pngs btw, you can pretty much drop in anything you want in there. Also since these are just unmodified GBA sprites :-Yeah, they'll clash with the 8-bit graphics-Setting color mode to anything other than "Advanced" or using any of the GBC effects may look kinda messy-Since GBA sprites are bigger, mons on opponent's side may occasionally cover part of the player's area or be partially covered themselves, depending on your battle UI configuration.-No idea how it works with the 3D stuff or any other fancy graphical mods, I'm using mostly QOL and balancing mods myself.
>>59490058On one hand, thanks for saving that and re-sharing it. On the other hand, hearing gatekeeping like that makes me less motivated to check the recomp out.
>>59490065>>59490065If it's any consolation, if you add this as a mod index in the launcher :https://bryanthaboi.github.io/gen1recomp-mod-index/data/index.jsonYou'll be able to browse and install a good portion of the mods right from the launcher without having to interact with their server, only about 80% of the stuff is there at the moment but they're slowly switching over to that for ease of updating. It is still managed by bryanthefag, unfortunately.
>>59487949>Anything I disagree with is LE BAITNo, there is genuinely no reason to play gen 1 when FRLG exist. Gen 1 looks like shit, plays like shit, is full of bugs that directly impact the game like the type chart not working, and its movepools are so shallow an ant could fall into it and not drown.
>>59487826That's what AI always does, schizos just frame it as "i-it replaces human input!". For AI to prodcuce anything good it still needs a creative person operating it.
>>59489098https://github.com/DramaticShape/DramaticShapeVoxelModHis github is back, was even updated today.Download it while you can though, he's still not okay with the forks and the guys making them aren't backing down either, who knows, he may delete everything again tomorrow.
>>59487801This is like saying you own a lawnmower but you only use it to cut the corners, everything else you cut by hand. You have the tool right there, you know how to use it, you know it'll save you precious time, I do not believe you for one second if you tell me you didn't use it for the rest of the job. Not saying that the dude doesn't know how to program, but he's definitely leaning harder on AI than he's letting on, probably because he's an attention whore and knows being open about it wouldn't get him as much attention. That said, the recomp runs great, mind you, it actually has a bunch of extra functionality that justifies its existence unlike many other projects like this that are just basic standalone emulators made for patreon farming, however, I did find at least 4 bugs that anyone that plays for more than 15 mins should be able to notice :1.- No defeat quotes from gym leaders, you just get money and right back to the overworld, kinda anticlimatic2.- No jingle during evolution screens3.- More than a few instances of text advancing without you pressing a button or you getting an item without the jingle playing, you can see both of these happening when you talk to the rocket grunt at the end of the golden bridge.4.- After you beat Gary at the E4, you literally just walk forward through him into the Hall of Fame instead of stepping left first to avoid this.I'll give you the last one as an honest oversight, but if you really coded and tested everything by hand, how can not notice and fix something as basic as the other 3?
>>59490192>leaning harder on AI than he's letting on, probably because he's an attention whoreA real chad would say he let AI do all the manual work and still got things right.
>>59486994Honestly, the only thing Gen 1 truly needs has been done on Pokémon Pure Red, 60fps and a shitload of QoL, this "3D" thing and stretched out camera kinda suck, your field of view is very limited if you go "first person" and all sense of mystery is gone with the camera from afar, at this point just do a good remake with the engine and go full 3D with stadium models and propper battle arenas, as it is now the battles look underwhelming as fuck.
>>59490058Neither of these seem to work for some reason. I tried messing with the file directories too, nothing
>>59490208I renamed them to differentiate them from one another, but it just occurred to me that maybe the filename actually maters. Try renaming the one you want to use to "MOEMON.zip", that was the original filename. Also, how are you installing it? I just dragged the zip file into the launcher, it should make no difference between that or just using the import button, but I do recall at least one instance of an older mod specifically mentioning it had to be drag and dropped. If you use ANYTHING else that modifies the base mon sprites it may cause conflicts too.
>>59486994sure i do. my excuse is that i have zero desire to ever play any pokemon game ever again.
>>59490238>>59490208Ok, nevermind, I just tried on a fresh install, filename doesn't matter and neither does install method (as long as you either drag and drop or use the import button, don't like, try to directly extract the zip or something else). If you installed it right then it may be conflicting with another mod, that's all I can think of.

>>59490712No, i'm still working on it atm.
>>59490729ok, keep me updated i always wondered why we never got to choose to be something like a fisherman/hiker/etc. in these games. I mean sure you can catch those pokemon and rp as them but like it takes so long to be able to get a water mon or rock mon.
>>59490058why would they make jynx, a pokemon based on hel, valkyries and opera singers black. the skin is based on frostbites, not melanin.
>>59490730>like it takes so long to be able to get a water mon or rock mon.Yeah I address this in my mod. The way I'm setting it up is Oak will acknowledge your trainer class(you pick it like picking your gender during the opening sequence of the game where you set your name & your rival name) at the lab and offer to give you a starter that goes with your trainer class or you could choose one of the 3 pokemon on the table. So for example if you pick black belt as your trainer class Oak will offer you a level 5 machop but you have the choice to not accept it and just go with the standard starters on the table.
>>59490788this is gonna go hard, i just hope you don't get burned out.
>>59487932What is a proof of concept?
>>59490192>1.- No defeat quotes from gym leaders, you just get money and right back to the overworld, kinda anticlimatic>2.- No jingle during evolution screens>3.- More than a few instances of text advancing without you pressing a button or you getting an item without the jingle playing, you can see both of these happening when you talk to the rocket grunt at the end of the golden bridge.>4.- After you beat Gary at the E4, you literally just walk forward through him into the Hall of Fame instead of stepping left first to avoid this.>I'll give you the last one as an honest oversight, but if you really coded and tested everything by hand, how can not notice and fix something as basic as the other 3?Firstly if you have the time please submit these issues to the github. Recomp will be all the better for it.Secondly is even if some of these issues are commonplace or easily reproducible, there were also a bunch of other bugs that they were dealing with earlier that were gamebreaking and higher priority. Other than that it is likely that they did patch up a bunch of obvious bugs that you will never have the misfortune of encountering. So if the biggest issues you have are missed dialogue, audio or visual desynching then that is very good news compared to the people who played it before you. You may not see the progress being made especially if you just started playing but as a community we actually can do something about it if you have the time to submit a report.
>>59490058Moemon is top 5 signs for pedotrannies and it sucks.

>>59490732Anon, Jynx is based on yamanba, both the youkai and the gyaru fashion. Not sure about the youkai but the gyarus had heavily tanned skin.
>>59490149The larger issue is that AI users also seem to believe that it will replace human ingenuity, so 99% of AI created things is garbage. The barrier to entry is so low, and the people using it so defensive about their low-quality work, that as of now, it's much easier to just write off all AI stuff rather than scour through the massive amounts of garbage for the people who know what their doing.
>>59487614>No its not vibecodedYou can fool people who don't know shit about programming, but that's false as fuck. A quick look through the repository makes it really damn obvious how much of a mess this is, and even the README.md is very clearly AI generated. My guy, *Claude is a contributor on the project*. There are commits of bryan changing em dashes into double dashes to mask AI usage. The attempts at hiding the AI usage are somehow even more pathetic than the AI usage itself.>This uses the disassemblyYes, as the prompt to Claude. If it actually used the disassembly to reproduce the behaviors of the original games (you know, ACTUALLY being a RECOMP) then>Missingno and other similar glitches also do not work because of how memory access works in Recompwouldn't make any sense whatsover, because "how memory access works in Recomp" would be the exact same way as how it works in the original games. The fact memory access works differently is because this is not a recomp, it's a Love2D fan-made remake that is very loosely based on the disassembly.Just look at actual recomps/ports like SoH, which reproduce the original behaviors and glitches of the games. That's because they actually DO build on the original C code from the ZeldaRET team! Unlike this garbage which is just trying to vibe code its way to an accurate version of the original game (which it never will, as LLMs suck with huge codebases like what games have!)If you're going to release this vibecoded garbage into the world, at least tell the truth. But I guess it's easier to lie to people who are unaware about the tech side of things for brownie points and attention, right? :)
>>59490955Feel free to relay it to them if you care enough, I already finished my playthrough and was just making an observation, I ain't got time to go through github bureaucracy and clearly no one else does, because I find it hard to believe such obvious bugs haven't been pointed out yet yet.
Honestly, I wouldn't mind the game if they at least went through and tried to fix all the mistakes the AI makes, so the 3D looks PRESENTABLE. Like, what the fuck is this? An actual human being would never look at the image on the left, and translate it to 3D like on the right. That's pure vibecode bullshit, and the fact a human hasn't stepped in and fixed it just makes the whole thing look lazy.
>>59486994when are we getting gen3recomp
>>59491311it kinda looks like how rpgmaker's 3d plugin fucks things up if you dont assign the proper tags

>>59491311And for some reason they're adding Let's Go catching mechanics and shiny pokemon instead of fixing shit like this:https://github.com/DramaticShape/DramaticShapeVoxelMod/blob/dev/CHANGELOG.mdWhy are they adding these things to a voxel mod?
Don't give a shit about how it was made, you can speed up without altering the music, that alone makes it worth it to me over emulators. Also, there's mods up the ass, you can pick and choose features individually to make your own experience tailored to your taste, no need to deal with stuff like "Hey guys, here's my mod with <feature that you want> but I also inserted my own OC NPCs, rebalanced stuff in favor of Pokemon I like, and made other intrusive changes you don't like! Trans rights, btw!".Fuck, you can even modify those mods even further or make your own if you want, Lua is dead easy, you don't have to worry about complicated shit like assembly, hardware limitations or overwritting memory taken by something else.

I literally *work* with AI, and I know how garbage it is at these things that you people claim it's good at. Of course there are uses for it, but it's at most useful for junior-level shit (it hasn't really gotten that great at complex projects). Games and actual software of value are not junior-level. Relying on AI is like hiring someone to build you a house, knowing that they won't be able to build the roof of the house. Sure the house looks beautiful, but it's incomplete. And the AI doesn't know how to complete it, and neither do you. So congrats, you now have a roofless house you can't finish. Enjoy the piss of God when he rains on you.

It's just a gen1 engine rewrite in lua/love2d.A recomp typically means they translate the game instruction by instruction to run on a different architecture. This makes no sense for something like gen 1, the instructions aren't the problem when making a PC port, it's figuring out a nice way to extend its functionality when 90% of the code is hardcoded to assume GB limitations. This is different for something like N64 where more complex engines abstract things away such that you can just swap out parts of it.>are setting by switches or by something built-in, like the options for keeping g1 bugsEven if there were it'll be very approximate and inaccurate.>does it have capabilities of long available tools, like randomizers or exporting files that can be used in pkhexno>does it work with existing rom modsno>is this any easier to mod than existing tools and resourcesdepends on your goal. gen1 is written in assembly which is the only way to keep it running on a game boy, and there's a lot of tools and tutorials to work with it. It won't be a 1:1 recomp as it can't be automated significantly nor decomped properly as the game was never written in a portable language like C, but it'll be a function by function rebuild of the game, which is about as accurate as you can get it. The game is playable from start to finish, there's no gamebreaking bugs, only minor stuff like >>59490192 . Any features not built-in that you could possibly want probably have a mod for it, if you ignore the 3D shit the game runs on potatoes including any number of chink handhelds, it is currently and objectively the best way to play Gen 1, but you fags too busy arguing about pointless shit like missing glitches, behind the scenes drama and AI to actually play the damn thing. I can see this being the defacto platform for future hacks, specially once Gen 2 is released and gains traction, you can do SO much more than you could ever do on a romhack and much more easily too, makin mods is trivial, people without programming knowledge already made a bunch of vibecoded mods and they just WORK, no need to wait for external tools or care about hardware limitations. If you want to make a Gen 1 project right now there's 0 reason to go back to romhacking unless you're an autist and are dead set on "muh original hardware".

This is quite interesting to see. AI gave me a near perfect port of Red, the only thing that isn't 100% are the missing glitches, and this was less than a month of vibecoding. Gen 2 is my next milestone but at this point I don't see a need to publicize it. I'll use it to make commercial games and whatnot.Out of curiosity I downloaded the teraleak and I'll see if i can vibecode ports of whats in there after.
>>59494767What model are you using? I tried with Fable 5 and quickly burned through $20 not accomplishing much.
>>59494594>>59494622Waiting like a sec before moving after exiting an encounter sort of worked for me, maybe placebo but I noticed if I tried to walk right after fading back into the over world it would almost always immediately trigger another encounter (which in itself wasn't bad if you were actually hunting for something rare), maybe something to do with the 60FPS implementation?. For the late game I mostly always use repels anyways, since my party is usually made by that point, but if you get into mods I think there's one that just allows you to turn off wild encounters at will, or hell, just set the game speed to like 3x or 4x and run and you're in and out of battle in like 3 secs. Not ideal solutions, I know, but I still believe this also counts as a minor inconvenience and the benefits still out weight the minuses.

>>59498783I would suggest adding some sort of awakening system to allow pokemon to exceed their own limits instead. This way you feel a sense of achievement for using your faves so much that they actually got stronger for it. You can even recycle alternate forms some mons have, like Megas, as this awakening. You need to remember that pokemon are separated into early, mid and end game for a reason. Having everything the same defeats the purpose of a lot of mons, as what should define a pokemon as viable, is its utility and the strategies you come up with. By all means, give early and mid mon more points strong ones, but remember that not everything is equal, and that's okay.

>>59501593I don't think any yet. I'd rather people make mods for that one instead of Bryan's vibe coded garbage.
>>59501602Well they didn't make a community for it. Does it even have mod support? They kind of shot themselves in the foot.
>>59501587>no binaries>"build it yourself" shit for autists>doesn't list what QoL features it has over the original except some useless jp cellphone feature that requires somebody to setup a server to replicate>not even complete yetYeah, no thanks, I think I'm just going back to romhacks for this one.
>>59501051anon showed potential interest and I suggested securing the files before they disappear, why are you so bothered
Gen 2 3D is out, I had a lot of crashes with the latest version of the recomp for Android though, maybe it's the mod or gen 2 support is still unstablehttps://github.com/randyadr/Gen2-3D-Sprites
>>59501974Wow.It looks like shit.
>>59501974Is github down?
>>59502035It's just slow as shit. It's been crashing for the past week. If you get error pages, just wait 5 minutes and refresh
>>59502035Just opened the link I posted with zero issues
>>59501741>online trading and battling>>some useless jp cellphone featureFix your AI raeesj, it's being stupid again.
You know, the concept of porting an old 2D game into Love2D itself is actually pretty cool, a lot easier to improve upon the engine and do mods, it's a shame a vibecoding retard did it this time, but wouldn't mind legit programmers implementing something similar for other 2D games, like Mario World, Super Metroid and ALttP, which already have recomps albeit pretty basic and pointless ones.
Gen 1 and 2 events when? Maybe even reconstruct them based on info available in various websites
>>59502326What events? you mean the limited pokemon? You can just pkhex them in already, they're included as presets IIRC, accurate stats and allYou want custom in-game events? The tools are technically already in place to do them, be the change you want to see and get coding (or proompting).
