I remember finding this cool German site in 2009, Pokemon-platnin.jimbo.com for Platinum news in Deutsch only for it to just stop updating one day.

I’d have asked the guy what happened, but the contact info isn’t archived

Internet centralized and slaughtered fansite/forum culture with it. Unless you're the biggest site in the niche you WILL go to reddit instead, or trawl through Discord servers, or deal with infinite scroll ragebait algo social media.
I miss my "home" forums too, but they were snuffed out.

Everything got regurgitated and cycled back to the same set of websites and the personal lives of those who weren't amidst the set took priority.

Years later, you can see the impact it has by fundling news feed regardless of its validity to those sites which have been compromised by affiliation or biases in favor of positives rather than objectiveness.
