Not really. The gameplay is basically Plants Vs. Zombies, where you place the Tatari(the game's pokemon) in a column and they shoot the Zombies until the stage clears and auto move to the next stage. While that happens, you play on the pinball machine to get enough candy to level up your account(with includes all of your monsters), get new Tatari and play timed minigames like fishing, farming, marathons, etc. There's also other stuff like boss challenge, gym challenge, invasion, etc.

Yes. Like >>59497559 said, evolving the mons is incredibly taxing. Even when you get enough stars through hording boxes and getting dupes, you have to do the evo trials which take a long time depending on the requirements. But it's doable, I guess.
