It seems most kids literally just use their starter and an HM slave for these pokemon games. You also don't have to replay a game every year or wtv. It's also like asking why travel to a place you've already been to: there's a good chance of finding something new to enjoy out of it, or cause some people are fags for nostalgia and reliving old memories
