It's dumb I love it. Same reason I love Dracozolt. They're so cute.
I hated them to start but they absolutely grew on me, Except for actovish that one I'm still not sure on.

I did always find it kind of odd that Ash always seemed to end up with pretty basic Pokemon and lost all the time. But on the other hand compared to most Anime Ash is an anomaly usually the main character is waaaay too OP but they managed to keep Ash in a state where he always had more to learn.
