I distinctly remember having him in BW, but it seems tricky now to find proof that an English language Genesect was ever offered as an event pokemon for the original games.Is there a DNS for getting him in BW nowadays?

Something's not right here, either one of these events must've been available to BW even though the site here doesn't list them as available.

I think GF know that which is why rewards like the shiny charm are given for the regional dex instead. It's a tricky situation where the reward for having all 1025 can't be TOO cool because 99% of the playerbase will never be able to get it.
