In the anime characters constantly point out Misty isn't as attractive as her sisters. But the internet (and several characters in the show) clearly disagree.Any idea why this is the case?

My guess would be that this is a cultural thing, in that there's some belief that as a girl matures into a grown women, she becomes pretty and attractive. And it's cultural to poke fun of them because they aren't attractive yet.
