Why didnt she get any of the "ZOMFG 100 DAMAGE!!1!" fame the 'Zard did?
I have literally never seen a single person before you mention anything about how an old TCG card actually plays. The answer to your question is because charizard is popular while nobody cares about zapdos.
>>59498198not 120HP
>sturdiest motherfucker ever>50HPBRAVO WIZARDS OF THE COAST
lol, zapdose the basic Pokemon…
>>59498233He has low hp not def RETARD
>>59498238def isnt a thing in the tcg so "HP" should account for overall constitution. cloyster being the worst pokemon at taking a hit fundamentally goes against the its essence
>>5949824645 spdef btw
>>59498233>remember, the electric balls are best known to selfdestruct make sure thats reflected on the cards>say no more familia
>>59498253>spdef didnt even exist in gen 1
>>59498275>specialFixed for your autism
>>59498298So 85, not 45, which is not low
>chansey>80 dmg from a normal(physical) attack
>>59498233That's what Clamp is for
>>59498338This post makes zero sense
>>59498233welcome to base set where they had no idea how to scale anything so basics had 120hp while stage 2s had 60hpmeanwhile stage 2s had worse attacks than basics at worse cost
>worse than cancer
nidoking (jungle)GCC 30 with coinflip to either do 40, or 10 recoilstage 2 3RCmeanwhile scyther (jungle)CCC 30basic 0RC
Imagine needing to evolve a 10HP card to play this trash
>>59498198I have that same Zapdos holo.
>>59498259>be Magneton>get a holo rare in Base>get a holo rare in Fossil>get a holo rare in Rocket>get a holo rare in Gym>get a holo rare in Neo
>>59498618Tfw you will never play raindance vs haymaker again
Because Discard ALL energy cards
>>59498198Why did they make so many cards with huge energy costs if they also made Energy Removal? Did they genuinely not forsee that being so powerful?
>>59498942High risk high reward is fun in card games.
>>59498962>jabs you
>>59498969And? High risk high reward is still fun.If you won every single time, it wouldn't be "high risk", would it?
>>59498976>jabs you again
>>59498979>Links you to my previous comment again>>59498976
>>59498985>jabs you again with two plus powers>collects prize card
>>59499000see>>59498976
I'm looking to buy a bunch of those flat glass beads that used to come with Pokemon decks as damage counters. The fuck are they called?
>>59499020mancala stones
>>59499026I own a mancala set and the stones are different.
>>59498198because it's a spiky yellow chicken not a badass dragon
>>59499020>glass beadshuh? All I remember is this cardboard shit
>>59499073Glass beads were very early.Cardboard replaced them pretty quickly.
>>59499034You own a mexican off brand mancala
>>59498599he's great actually
>>59499092That's why he sucks/licks
>>59499073We got these
>>59499084>mancala>brandDo you think "chess" is a brand too?>>59499116Those are the guys
>>59498969FFC 40meanwhile rhydon is FFFF 50 and 20 recoil as a stage 1
>>59498259It actually doesn't feel like much of a reach that the little magnetic robot could blow up but yeah Voltorb/Electrode should have had it
>>59499073Before this was sticky jelly shit that didnt last long
>>59498228It's been buffed to 110HP
>>59499268where can I see all the rebalances?
>>59499116pretty sure i still have a pile of blue ones laying around somewhere
>>59498233I think they made a lot of the cards blatantly useless to balance out the type ratios, so that water/normal users don't get such a disproportionate amount of viable choices
>>59499268Okay, but it didn't happen until years after pokemania
Love my water type deck in TCG The Video Game on the game boy
>>59499620Funny I'm reading this a couple minutes after I turned off that game. Kino game as kid since no way in hell I had money to get all the cards I wanted and now kino game as an adult since I no longer have friends to play
>>59499647Singleplayer non-roguelike card games are such a rarity. Inscryption captured that feeling a bit (doubly so as its second part is so clearly inspired by the game) but other than that, you've got Thronebreaker and that's basically itWhy some indie hasn't done something with the idea yet is beyond me
>>59498259I only very recently learned that the Magnemite line doesn't learn Selfdestruct at all. I've had that misconception for almost 30 years entirely due to the TCG.
>>59498207>nobody cares about zapdos.Fuck you
>>59499620 I beat Courtney with a Shellder
>>59500205Props. One weird quirk of the game is how the Elite4 get progressively easier. Dragondude is straight up pathetic
>>59498198>low IQFollowing the theme decks of 4x Charmander, 4x Charmeleon, 4x Charizard, etc>midwit4x Hitmonchan4x Scyther4x Electabuzz>high IQEnergy removal troll, 4x Dragonair and 4x GolduckStall niggers aka 4x Chansey, 4x Mr. Mime, 4x Mewtwo, 4x Muk>Based4x Wigglytuff full bench combo4x Alakazam to 4x Chansey and 4x Snorlax damage swap
>>59500250>Elder God Rain Dance Toise
Now why on earth is Gyarados, the water/flying pokemon, week to grass instead of electric? Mind boggling
>>59500250>mewtwo>stall??
>>59500250>Energy removal troll, 4x Dragonair and 4x Golduck>Low damage move that takes the opponents energySuch a bizarre take on hyper beam. If anything it should discard your own energy for really high damage, not unlike OP's zapdos
>ProsNo scalpingNo investorchudsCharizards everywherePromo Mews everywhere>ConsHaymaker decks everywhere until 1999-2000 cards were declared obsolete for tournament play; if you didn't play some kind of variation of Haymaker deck you're fucked in the playground, at school, at your friend's house, at your local game shop, during tournaments
>>59501369>if you didn't play some kind of variation of Haymaker deck you're fucked in the playground, at school, at your friend's houseNot true. Most kids were by no means even aware of the competitive bullshit and optimal strategies
>>59498207This. No one actually plays the TCG they just see big numbers and dragon. Zard is king
>>59498207There are a ton of fun deck options for the early pokemon tcg. Print out some proxy decks and run them with friends for a good time. Just be sure to gentleman's agreement away licktung stall and haymaker to expand the pool of playable decks. Maybe clefable and mewtwo decks as well. Really lower the power level of the format, the jankier your decks are the more fun they'll be to play.
>>59498536>basics had 120hponly chansey and because it has high ass HP in the games tooI agree onix with 90 HP is a farce though
>>59498198because Charizard got more exposure than Zapdos, that's it.Back in the day, Zapdos was seeing some play thanks to Electrode, meanwhile Charizard was nowhere to be seen, he already was the collectionist's crown jewel, not to mention that the meta was revolving around big basic pokemon and evolutions were simply not viable. And Charizard's fame doesn't relate to its playability anyways.
>>59500852the idea was to use Mewtwo's Barrier attack constantly while you use trainer cards to remove energies/disrupt your opponent until they deck out. Wasn't very good.
>>59498198>discard two energyor>discard ALL energyGee I wonder
>>59502012I guarantee you if the effects were reversed the popularity wouldn't have shifted whatsoever
>>59502012Charizard can also eat any kind of energy while you have to find 4 Lightning energy for ZapdosWhy run Zapdos when you can run 4 Electabuzz?
>>59502156There's literally zero reason to run Charizard. Hell even Charmeleon is a fundamentally better pokemon
I'm surprised they came out with the Classic Collection like a year or two ago and they didn't reprint cards from the WOTC era down to the last detail, would have killed scalpers and investors hunting down on vintage cards as well.Should have reprinted everything from Base Set up to like Neo Destiny including Southern Islands and the Black Star promos plus all of the theme decks from the era along with the Base Set starter set.Charge $1500 for the 1st Edition Pokemon Center version and $1200 for the normal one.
