When I think of Hoenn I think of ancient temples, miraculous events, unusual landscapes, lots of towns with their own history, colours and climates. The mons reflect this. When I think of Hoenn I think of mons like Claydol, Tropius and Absol, then the slice of life mons like Skitty and Shroomish. They're all really solid monster designs and none are unusable stats-wise in-game.
