Gen 2 has been my favorite since it released. flawless game 101/100 it was so good it actually took that last point away from that piece of shit "ocarina of time"

half the gym leaders do this. but then kanto leaders got johto pokemon in some cases. and the level curve, they obviously had the idea of the 16 gyms so they made the levels start lower but then abandoned the idea by the time you get to kanto because these guys still need to be weaker than lance since hes champion of both regions. they shouldve kust said fuck logic kogas daughters pokemon are 10 levels higher than her dads. what are you gunna do about it, loser?

The gym leader's variety is just the result of not having enough poekmon to fluff the numbers, thus you get the problem when they have like, three pokemon that consist of two of the same pokemon and then the evolution.

I do agree that having the ghost guy use the gengar line but not a misdreavus or chuck not use hitmontop seems... fucking stupid? But at the end of the day they fixed all that in remakes and further games so who cares in the end, congrats, your opinion is so correct even gamefreak agrees.

My problem with gen 2 is mostly that it felt cut-off thanks to the kanto stuff, that and the rocket finale feels so limp but those things might be related. The radio tower is like if the rocket stuff in gen 1 ended at sliph co but no final battle against giovanni at his gym.

I like 2nd gen and think it has a solid foundation, but it feels like they were embarrassed at the new designs or something so they tried to hide them all in out of the way locations. Not to mention the deluge of single-stage shitmon and Pokemon that seemed to exist for no reason but to give some developer a laugh that a person would spend time waiting for a limited-time swarm so they could get a Dunsparce. It's like the monster manifestation of the turd you got for collecting all the Korok seeds in BotW.
You'd think second gen would be the chance they used to fix the design issues of Gen 1, but they just ignored that to throw a bunch of marketable 'Baby Pokemon' to sell merch. I half-suspect that Game Freak assumed the franchise would die after Gen II and they were just trying to cash a last payday.
