Mega Evolution, Z-Moves, Dynamax/Gigantamax and Terastal...

Imagine all four of them being available to use in PvP battles... It could be that each player could only choose one of them per battle for one of their Pokémon to use, or maybe have each player only be able to use each one once per battle each for a different one of their Pokémon. There's also the most extreme option of just allowing both players to use all four of them by one of their Pokémon, especially if all four are able to be used in the same Turn.

What would be the results of it? Could they balance it? Especially in that last case, that would have some issues.

>Could they balance it?
No and they weren't planning to anyway
>>
>>59515884
This, they're going to be rotated seasonally and combined in differing matchups.

We don't know yet. But I do feel it's highly likely they don't plan to have all for four be usable at once. The Omni Ring feels more a lore cop-out to have any one of them be usable whenever they feel like, so they can rotate them for different Regulations. But that some cop-out means they could do it if they were willing too.

As is however. Mega Evolution and Z-Moves both require a Held Item so at least both of those two couldn't be used at the same time by the same Pokémon. There's other things like that they'd have to figure out and make decisions on if they'd want to have all four usable in one battle, let alone at the same time, and that's before any balancing.

>>59515921
No, but as they proved with the reveal vid, the plan is at least 2 live at a time. The others will come in time, but I have a sneaking suspicion VGC will return to cart for Gen 10 (really can't see them adding the new gimmick until GF got sales of the game featuring it) and if so it'll be treading water mix-and-matching expired gimmicks.
>>
>>59515924
Imo Gen 10 will have PvP as an option but it won’t be ranked, and there will be a 6 month delay before home support and the gimmick from Gen 10 are added to champions
>>
There's this animation someone made showing what using all four at the same time could look like:

Of course. The one used to do it was CHARIZARD from KANTO.

Worse yet, they’ll be unlocked via microtransactions, turning the meta into pay-to-win.
>>

>What would be the results of it?
People would only ever use Dynamax because it's too broken for anything else to stand a chance.
>>
>>59516969
There's very few things to even pay real money for in Pokémon Champions. Except for four of them, all the Mega Stones can be directly obtained in-game. You just simply have to pay 2000VP. It's highly likely that the same will happen for the Z-Crystals. Changing Tera Type will probably just be done by paying VP in the Training section and Dynamax Level will probably just default to 10. Not sure how they'll handle Gigantamax Factor.
>>
>>59516998
Pretty sure you can get the ZA starters in game, either with a pass or from the shop now
>>
>>59515879
They should give you the option to use all four on the same Pokémon but if you actually do so your Pokémon explodes on the spot due to sheer brokenness overload.
>>

I do think that if they were to let one Pokémon use all four at once. There needs to be some major downside to doing so because of how overpowered it would be. Some I thought of are:
>Getting the Recharging Status, but for more than one Turn.
>Lots of recoil damage or even an instant self-Faint immediately after using the Move.
>The player being unable to tell their Pokémon what to do for one or more Turns, resulting in their Pokémon taking no action those Turns if they're not already under the effect of something that would have them do something without the player's input.

Even from an in-universe stand-point, I don't think a Pokémon using all four at once would have no consequence.
>>
>>59517084
Exploding is a pretty big consequence, I'd say.
>>
>>59517084
I mean you physically cannot with like 1-2 exceptions. Only Rayquaza and maybe Necromza can mega and hold a Z-Crystal.
>>
>>59517132
Pokémon can now hold an extra item for every hand they have but if they're holding items in all of their hands they can't use any moves that require their hands.
>>
>>59517132
True. Both Mega Evolution and Z-Moves require a Held Item, which Pokémon can only have one of. Even then, with Mega Rayquaza, they made it so it can't use a Z-Move. It seems they only allow one of them to have their activation button appear at a time, in fact I suspect that's how they'll mainly prevent using multiple at once in the future for Pokémon Champions. So if they ever want to make using all four in one battle be a thing, let alone at the same time. They'd have to make some sort of changes to the requirements of Mega Evolution or Z-Moves. I'd suggest just making a Pokémon have a "Z-Type" like how Terstal uses a Tera Type instead of a Held Item.

Being able to use all four at the same time would be funny, cool and interesting.

Well Pokémon do already explode if they Faint while Dynamaxed/Gigantamaxed.
>>
>>59516987
This. Dynamax and Gigantamax are way more overpowered compared to the others. If only one out of the four can be chosen to be used per battle, it'd generally be the best choice compared to the other three.
>>
So they were to have a set of Regulations that are "Regulation MZDT-A" and so on where one out of all four can be used per battle. What kind of Pokémon and Items should be included or excluded? Notably to make it actually be fun and have all four be reasonably equally useful. I'm assuming they are willing to make some Pokémon no longer eligible for some Regulations. Then if needed any changes to the mechanics themselves.
>>
>>59515893
Unless there's a single player campaign in the vein of Pokémon Staduim (each Cup/Stadium centers around a specific gimmick), this is the most likely scenario for Champions.
>>
>>59521470
I feel that Pokémon Champions is mostly if not exclusively going to stick to either one or at most two at a time for its main PvP. I doubt we'll get all four at once.

But on single player content for Pokémon Champions. At first I thought the game was going to be PvP only, yet later on I got cut scenes hinting at future single player content of some kind. But I don't really have much idea what any single player content for the game could be like. I'm not so sure if they'll only stick to one of the generational battle mechanics for the single player.

Also something interesting I noticed. In gen 6, when Mega Evolving a Pokémon, the animation is longer in non-EXP awarding battles. Because it adds animation of the player actually activating the Mega Evolution. In PvP, it's the Pokémon Mega Evolving itself that has an animation. Despite Pokémon Champion's focus on PvP, it actually does this too. In the Battle Tutorial for Mega Evolution, that longer animation is there, notably it shows the Trainer manually selecting Mega Evolution on the Omni Ring. I feel it could mean something, but I'm not sure exactly what.
>>
For the most extreme possible case. The instance of one Pokémon using all four of them at the same time. Here's some relevant Things. Right now there is only four Pokémon that can both Gigantamax and Mega Evolve. Which are Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise and Gengar. So for those four, using both Mega Evolution and Gigantamax at the same time would mean a new Form that combines both. Likewise, the actual Move that they'll then use would be a new Move that combines being both a Z-Move and their G-Max Move. Z-Moves, Max Moves and G-Max are extremely strong already and have many overpowered additional effects. This new kind of Move would be even more powerful and with more overpowered effects. And all that. While also being under the effect of Terastal. Let alone any other set up you did for it before that Turn and any other factors. Yeah I agree with what that other anon said earlier, the Pokémon should explode from doing that.
>>
>can only choose 1 per battle
It would be Dynamax every single time because people want to win.
