Plants in the mint family are tough to kill, regrow on their own and are used not just for food but for medicinal purposes too. Mint is strong and too much of it is overpowering, icy, and cold. But it can also be delightfully sweet and refreshing. It's versatile and can also work in savory dishes. It's a flavor that feels invigorating but can also soothe upset tummies. Mint can also take over if it's not kept in check, which reminds me of how his emotions can come out too strongly before he can think. I don't think he's invasive though. He'd be a plant that can do a little bit of everything, so I think mint is really a perfect fit for him.
ohh i have thoughts on guzma's plant inspomany of alola's characters have hawaiian botanical names. guzma is named for a species of air plant found in hawaii that's non-native, but naturalized. my understanding is this is kind of a nebulous designation, but it's not so successful that it outcompetes native plants to the detriment of the ecosystem (compare with idk, kudzu.) these plants have evolved to have roots that anchor without taking up nutrients, and instead collect water that runs into their leaves. they grow in shady areas, frequently on other trees. i think that relates to him feeling like he doesn't belong in alolan society and making his own place with team skull. and being literally overshadowed by more successful people specifically on ula'ula BUT I DIGRESSbesides that he'd be one of those orchids that mimics insects to attract pollinators because he would fuck bees
I'm not well versed on plants, but maybe a Japanese maple? It's delicate yet elegant looking.It's useful in terms of providing shelter for tiny creatures. But it won't feed you or anything.I want him to be potted, but he's meant to be out there in the environment doing god knows what.

>>59521346I don’t tend to pull on anni pairs, I do like the usual anni picks such as Cynthia / Red / Steven but not enough to pull. The only pair I pulled was Irida last year because I’m a big fan of her and I love poison types, and her kit is great. I do wish I had enough to pull for Harmony though because I adore KaraSei more than anything but I have to be strong (and I have NC May so I don’t think I’m in dire need for another busted water pair right now). Sad that she comes with my least favorite starter though, but I’m sure I’ll get her on a rerun.

Might be better to just save for the inevitable alt (and it might have a mon you prefer). Team up/victory lines work with alt units too, so if there's any KaraSei lines, you'll still be able to access them with an alt.

The tree is used for Shinto rituals/offerings and I think I remember reading that the tree's branches and leaves look like the Earth badge, so Japanese players likely knew who the 8th gym leader was before the reveal.
