It could have been a lot better, some wasted potential here and there but a decent series overall. At times I have the sensation that the writers wanted to do more and the suits above didn't let them.

I'll die on the hill that it will be "rediscovered" in a few years and keep a small but loyal fanbase.

Amethio should have been the secondary protagonist, not Roy. The first half is literally Amethio's family vs. Liko's family. Could have been a cool story about Liko embracing her legacy, while Amethio rejects his.

But no we had to have Roy because REEEEEEtarded autists need a generic shonen protag screaming on their screen.

Roy, even if not great, was more interesting pre timeskip when he had his music shtick and was a goofy, happy-go-lucky energetic boy. Then they decided to make him the blandest version of Ash while also the token corporate shill for Z-A. Lucario has the charisma of a wet towel too.

I agree about Amethio though, he was diet Prince Zuko in a good way and ended underused.

They took too long to make Ult likeable. He has a really nice connection with Pokémon but they didn't show any of it in his earlier appearances and just portrayed him as a straight pest with no redeemable traits, until his flashback episodes and/or when Dragonite finally came out.

I still think it's retarded that they called her Liko, it sounds so ugly. Riko sounds much better.
