I didnt build any of the Lati's, Alakazam, Espeon, or Moltres, so I was just running maxed out Zacian, and fucker took 4 cycles to beat.
For the second, I realized I could switch to Zen Headbutt Metagross, but it still took 3 fucking cycles.
To add insult to injury, they don't even stay in the ball easily. Takes like 4 of em.
Only did the two, no regrets on stopping after that. Next week should be better for the XL grind

It's a UI A/B test, since the appraisal button next to the transfer button is the single most used item in that hamburger button menu.
It saves you a click on getting an appraisal, but doesn't address the tedium that viewing essential stats is buried behind a menu instead of being visible on the Pokémon stats screen at all times.

This comes from the same development team that implemented Catch Cards, a notification that tells you to try the Catch Cards when you screenshot your Pokémon's IVs, and omitted the Pokémon's IVs and most details from the Catch Cards screen in favor of letting you take a photo as a background.

Same dev team that briefly changed the time and location caught information above the important things like the resources, power up options, and move set.

Same dev team that made the entire width of the Power Up / Evolve / Unfuse / Learn New Move bars a clickable button, instead of only the actual round green button.
Which is why you so frequently misclick the power up / evolve button when trying to tap the hamburger button to do an appraisal or transfer, and now that is more likely to happen with an extra, smaller button placed above.

They're a pain to set up but you need a Twitch account, a Pokémon Trainer Club account (doesn't need to be connected or used for Pokémon Go), and to link those two accounts together.
Then you watch the Twitch stream for like 30-45 minutes until you get the drop, you go to the Rewards section on Twitch, then the Rewards mini-site on Pokemon.com, and get a code you can redeem on Pokémon Go's web store.
A lot of bullshit steps but you get some decent items, sometimes timed research for a Pokémon encounter, etc.

Also you don't need to actually *watch* the Twitch stream you can just leave it idling and muted. If you're on desktop, just open a separate browser window and do not minimise it, but mute the browser tab.

I have determined that 1600-1800 is the best ELO bracket for farming GBL wins because you're much less likely to run into players who actually know how to play farming their wins (conversely, those players are probably tanking down from here, though they usually don't let their ELO push past ~1500) and the actual player quality is barely higher than those at 1000-1600

The main thing is that most people aren't really running fighting types these days. At least not in Great League
Medicham's okay, but it typically doesn't run Counter anymore (instead Psycho Cut), and if Lickilicky gets any bit energy advantage, or you guess wrong when to shield with Body Slam / Shadow Ball, you just lose.
You can maybe try and run a Annihilape or Primeape, rage fist sweep team but they actually end up losing unless you pack Close Combat over Ice Punch (which, I think is super worth it these days. Lickilickies never fucking block against these two, expecting a rage fist all the time). Even so, these two typically arent put into teams to answer things often, and instead teams are built around them.
After that it's, what? Kommo-o? Poliwrath? There's really not a lot of options.
Your better off running Grounds to eat the chip from Rollout and try to win with neutral damage. Stunfisk, Quagsire, and Clodsire all fair well, and unlike the Fightings, don't have to worry about Mimikyu switching in against them and just winning the match off that exchange.

Ultra League fairs way better against him though. Anni's better, Cobalion laughs at everything it can do, and Virizion can sometimes just win the whole game by setting up against the supposed "safe swap" of the tier.

You can't switch in to beat down a dark with your fighting because your ghost side gets nuked. Vice versa with psychic nuking your fighting side. You lose the ghost 1v1 because your fighting fast attack does no damage, and you can't deal with most normals because they always pack a ghost counter.

I'd argue it's worse than pre-counter nerf these days.
Shadow Claw is the new Counter, and ghost is a hell of a lot more annoying to deal with than fighting. A whopping 2 resistances (Normal and Dark) vs the 5 you could work with vs Counter (Fairy, Flying, Ghost, Poison, or Psychic) means team building is limited. Pretty much any serious team is running a Bulky Normal, because most of the Darks don't cut it vs Mimikyu, the best ghost.
Doesn't mean you can't run a Dark for your Ghost needs. Thievul, Morpeko, Malamar, and Guzzlord can really set up on the Shadow Claw spam, but you need a dedicated Mimikyu answer then, like Jumpluff, Foretress, or Tinkaton, which then makes team building super limited if you plan on rolling with dark.
The gimmicks have gotten a little out of hand too. Morpeko is pretty weak this season, but it absolutely steamrolls you if you carelessly swap to a Shadow Claw spammer. It's a win condition off one mistake, so you better learn quickly whose a risk to swap to, and build your team either to avoid any Morpeko hard wins, or know damn well you're risking the whole game if you hard swap to Feraligatr, Cramorant, Furret, Empoleon, or Malamar,
Mimikyu is the real problem. 3rd shield goes absolutely ballistic. It basically invalidated any nuke heavy mon, like Registeel, Grumpig, or Seimitoad. I'd even say Altaria is now an extremely swingy mon to use now, because if it gets trapped with Mimikyu it's basically game over. Pretty much all viable mons have a spammable charge move to throw out just to minimize Mimikyu's impact.
Overall, I say stick to Master League right now. The metas basically unchanged from last year. Zacian / Ho-oh / Palkia-O is still the copy past team that does wonders.

GBL has its issues, but Niantic's devs seem genuinely interesting in reining in broken shit and giving struggling mons a boost and a chance at success. the meta is always evovling with go, Pretty sad that free tap-tap game has more respect for pokemon species that Lame Freak, but either way there is chance that of what you want happening.

The last few GBL seasons have switched from rock/paper/scissors to just whacking foes with neutral hits. It's not worth it anymore to build out teams that can hit super effectively against the top mons, because things like Mimkyu and Morpeko can win the whole game if one of your pokemon can't threaten them.
So the meta now is just spamming Ghost and Water moves, because those two are the hardest thing to resist.
