I'm thinking Hera as my ribbon master and pairing it with CM Lati @ Soul Dew with rest Regice. Lati resists fire and fighting, immune to ground, Regice resists Ice and is a huge special wall in general. I'm hoping those two can do most of the heavy lifting for the big Cross. Him or Piloswine were my two I settled on as they're the two I don't feel like I have one with ribbons in a newer game that I wouldn't mind replacing.

I finished Blue and Crystal on the Virtual Console, but I want to catch more pokemon before transfering anything. I'm trying to get a living dex for Home from gen 1 to gen 7 regardless of where I catch my pokemon, however knowing you can transfer your pokemon from ZA to Home but not the other way around made me replay older games. I'm playing Emerald for nostalgia's sake and will only really start catching as many pokemon in that one once I beat the champion, this will make transfers smoother.

I want to at least get a ribbon master. It won't be a true ribbon master since I'm gonna use a gen 4 mon, but I'm not autistic enough about any gen 1-3 mons to try with them.

I finished moving all my living dex mons (until gen 7) plus events and extra legendaries last Saturday. Don't have a Switch yet but I plan on buying one next year and eventually buy Sword and Scarlet or Violet, maybe both because the GTS sucks and it's hard to get version exclusives (I did manage to get a Zamazenta by trading an extra Zekrom I had). Bank shutdown is giving me the creeps. I don't even care about it that much for my own sake, I just don't like the idea of gen3-7 pokemon becoming a limited commodity on the online-trade-market. What's stopping a dedicated autist from hoarding all pokeball vivilon and fucking everybody else over in the process? All the unique gen3-7 pokemon will become so valuable the only way to get one will be to trade over another unique gen3-7 pokemon, meaning they will be exclusivel to a small cycle of elites, and everybody who is getting into the game after the shutdown will be fucked and out of luck.

I’m currently debating on if I want to start from Gen 1 and do an entire run through of the mainline series or start from Gen 3 to start a Ribbon Master for the first thing. On one hand I wanted to do as close as 100% of each game with Trainer Cards and it would feel more complete. On the other hand while I don’t dislike Gens 1/2 I prefer their remakes in almost every way and I don’t think there’s anything exclusive to them besides Shiny Celebi. Started up saves in both VC Red & FR for now but not sure what I’ll do. In the meantime I gathered up the rest of my 3DS era games into Home including ORAS Deoxys and the Ultra Moon version exclusives UBs to finish my National Dex in Home.

I was hoping to play through Emerald one day, but with this shutdown I don't see much point. I did play through Sapphire a couple times and Omega Ruby so hopefully not missing much.

I have also wanted to replay Platinum and maybe even X but at this point I only have time for 1. It will probably just be Platinum. X seems gimped without all the online features.

I beat Black for the first time and it was amazing. I dont understand why everyone was shitting on it when it came out. Ive dont a living dex in heal balls for all the pokemon I can (even victini). Dialga is only catchable in a Heavy Ball in 3 games, Ultra Sun, Sword (Shield if you have a Sword player with route saved but I don't, burned my heavy Ball on Registeel anyway) and BD but only if you got it early. I have UM, Shield, and SP so even though I can catch Dialga in Diamond, Platinum, Hg via Arceus event, and Legends Arceus, none of those can be in a Heavy Ball. Hacked/injected Pokemon don't really cut it for me collection wise.

Giving a little context since this guy didn't: Premier is the ball used in Go raids and given out for cheap for Dynamax Adventures. You can argue if it's correct, but both those methods of getting shiny legendaries are widely viewed as less 'valuable' than resets in older games or even eventmons. People assume anything in a premier ball is from those or has come to associate the ball with them.
Of course you can also get essentially unlimited luxury balls with very little work in gen 8 and it's the best way to make money, but no one cares about that.

You have wonder trades, room trades and the GTS. wonder trades are funny but don't expect much from it. room trades, I tried 1, the people who entered only had shitmons, so I didn't try it again. Just playing USUM. I just finished Sophocles' trial

It's the only mainline game I have yet to finish. I mean except Legends Arceus and the ZA DLC, but I think of Legends as something separate from mainline, personally.

I'm keeping a checklist of Home mons that I still need registered for a living dex. I have some really odd ones I'm missing. Thankfully I already have most of the legendaries so I don't need to fuck with wormholes too much. I made sure to get the event mons via PK Hex wondercards, I absolutely needed Zeraora.

What I really want to experience though is Episode RR, the premise of which sounds like a Kamen Rider Anniversary movie.

I talked about Bank being shutdown and Home existing to a corpo in networking I know for their take due to the complaints about how Bank would cost nothing to keep running. They backed the theory that it's not worth the trouble to maintain if the one guy who knows it inside and out leaves the company and a lot of legacy software gets retired because it's not worth the trouble to keep going without the one guy on payroll who can quickly diagnose and fix any issues.

I'm exhausted from playing Colosseum in English, then in English RNGing everything for shinies and then 12 back to back 100 battle Mt Battles for ribbons, and now a third playthrough in Japanese for the e-reader mons.

yes it is entirely doable and in fact far easier than on an unmodded 3ds. 3rd party tools let you totally bypass the use & restrictions of bank & poketransporter in that you can just drag and drop the mons in and out of the games as well as clone them to preserve them across multiple saves
my system is hacked and the only issue ive ever had was a handful of home transfers failing due to "illegal"/impossible mons being detected in the pile, like a giratina that was forced into origin forme without orb

I've found pkhex to be more strict than bank sometimes. Before learning about ALM I was trying to manually make a shiny colo dunspacrce that would evolve into a 3 segment and it would not pass a legality check. I still uploaded and it went through. Assuming it's because home can't check for GC rng. Of course, since discovering ALM it's much smoother. I'll go through these and load multiple legal copies ino home this weekend. Decided to try to breed a shiny Tentacool in Sun because I have one (later evolved) in my first playthrough of Sapphire from more than 20 years ago, back when the only option for me to be able to play pokémon games were on the emulator in my PC. I have the shiny charm but still, wish me luck.

Im actually pissed because my sd card containing my VC games, Pokemon Black, ORAS, and my bank killed itself a couple months ago... The only thing of note I still have are my gen 4 games, Platinum and SS, which both I've collectively put about 400 hours in.
Especially Platinum, I have all the catchable legendaries, and some event Pokemon from using the distribution ROMs. As much as I love seeing them all in there, should I just reinstall bank, upload everything of note in Platinum and SS, then roll back the saves so I've effectively duplicated everything?

I have 2 level 1 legendaries that I caught myself in HGSS so I am certain they are 100% legitimate - neither will transfer. Along with a random Kyogre.

A Mew (forget which event) did transfer to himbut started glitch out in Shield - had no box sprite, etc.

And weirdest of all an Alolan Dugtrio transferred from Bank to Home, but once it got there it became stuck on that account. I absolutely could not trade it. I can't fathom what on earth made the system think it was hacked.

PKHex has some false positives in it, it thinks my ORAS starter Swampert is invalid in my party for some reason - but then drops the legality flag when moved to the Box.

Has anyone else ever had a problem with the TV Screen in Platinum being weirdly unresponsive? I'm trying to get a trainer ID for the cute charm glitch and I keep getting fucked because the TV screen before the game starts hardly responds to me pressing A no matter what I do or how I try to press it. The A button works perfectly fine during the intro and while in the game, I'm only having problems on this specific screen. Doing this on a 3ds btw, my ds lite is broke.

Not really, I plan to travel to Asian countries and plane trips can be very long. I'd rather play video games in the plane if I'm stuck in there for over 10 hours in a row than just wait it out or watch random movies with horrible sound quality. The only saving grace is more ports like FRLG on Switch 1. The new path would require injecting existing save files into the ports on a cfw S1. Then trading to a clean system.

It all comes down to when GF gives us ports, and what system they're on. They could choose to release DS games on S2 purely for that save data integrity. It's also possible the Switch 2 gets cracked the day after those ports dropped.

GF likely recognized that a lot of people have really old hacked mons, and let them in. The issue arrises if you deposit something, then edit it.
