>There was a new rock by the water.Has it always been there? This is Kanto just like I remembered?
This hack is so genuinely boring and shittyPlay Ghost Grey instead
>>59536454Okey I've seen this joke for a couple weeks now. Any anon care to explain it?
>>59536524from frlg.ips, a hack that basically plagiarizes deltarune's weird route with some things from undertale's genocide routenaturally trannies ate it up because deltarune but pokemon
>>59536524It's a hack which is about Missigno trying to nuke the multiverse and is basically an exact ripoff of Deltarune's Weird Route/Undertale Genocide, even down to having not-Sans show upNot the worst horror game I've ever played but as >>59536519 said if you want to play a horror Pokemon hack you should probably play that one instead.
HAHAHA XD IT WAS POSTED AGAIN HILARIOUS>>59536524Trannies brought the worst tranny shit ever to an already pozzed franchise.
there is a new brock by the water
Can somebody upload me the ROM? The one i made keep crashing
>>59536530>>59536531>>59536548Thanks for the responses.
>>59536519>>59536531Conveniently, youtube recommended me both a playthrough of Pokemon Ghost Grey and some vtuber playing FRLG.ips, and both looked pretty interesting. Could you spoonfeed me a bit more on Ghost Grey? I saw a video of all the Pokemon included and I really liked a lot of the more grotesque designs, and I found the 2edgy4u writing very endearing..ips also looks fun, I'm a sucker for creepypasta stories where NPCs escape their programming and the whole "your Pokemon is a cosmic horror devouring what it sees fit" plot was kind of interesting.
>>59536530>a hack that basically plagiarizes deltarune's weird route
>>59537002Ghost Grey is Kanto set 50 years in the future and overrun by ghosts. Whole thing just has fantastic atmosphere and presentation, the spritework is great, all of the major characters have extremely expressive portraits, the music sets the tone perfectly. It also is Kanto, but the map is heavily changed to feel like its own thing, and the levels/dungeons are all modified. The overall progression and structure of the game also isn't overly handholdy, you do have to figure out where to go on your own with tons of little secrets along the way. Even though everything is Ghost type you still do have a lot of different shit for teambuilding.Game does get pretty edgy/dark later on but not in a way that felt goofy, though your mileage may vary on that. There's also a part of the ending I really fucking hated but I think it's easy to recommend if you like horror in general.IPS is pretty much none of those things, it's just a slog from start to finish where you follow a guide on the ARG website to do the Deltarune weird route but Pokemon. You just spam the same move on the same mon over and over for 5 hours until you get a bad ending where everyone dies. Missigno is generic evil mcbadguy villain as you learn in massive exposition dumps near the end. Tl;dr Ghost Grey is an actual horror game that has level design and balance and shit, IPS is like some amateur creepypasta that sucks to actually play.
>>59536519Both are "Spooky" dogshit modern hackslop anyways so who cares?
>>59537457>play horror game>AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA IT'S TOO LE EDGY AND SPOOKY FOR ME no fucking shit sherlock
>>59537820Shitty hacks and fangames like this are never scary, but they are very edgy like you said, and by default that makes them slop that shouldn't have been made in the first place. But by all means anon keep eating it up like the retard you are :)
>>59538212>I only play mature games for mature gamers such as myself
>>59538212Oh woah tough guy anon is so based and badass he's not afraid of horror games
WTF guys I just booted up Resident Evil 4 and there's like zombies and people getting eaten and stuff? How was I supposed to avoid this edgyslop I thought this would be fun and wholesome?
>>59538212>:)you can just say you're crying
>>59536519>(romhack) sucks!>...play my shitty hack instead! And this is why I just don't deal with romhacks. Everyone's a shill and everyone is dragging down everyone else's shit to self-promote.At least when official Pokemon games suck ass it's enjoyable making fun of them and GameFreak for sucking ass despite having no excuse.
>>59538967I would recommend both FRLG.IPS and Ghost Grey if they were both good romhacks
>>59538967well to be fair, making fun of frlg.ips is very enjoyable
>>59536519Genuinely better than that gay rom hack ARG.
>>59536524>>59537002FRLG.ips is an ARG game where you download the rom hack and play normally for 8 fucking hours until you get to the late game trade in Cinnabar and Seafoam Island and then you get "hints" that something is different, and if you look through some extra cryptic NPC trades you'll get a link to a site made by the trannydev where he tells you how to trigger the events and story beats for his hack, and it all starts with picking the starter they wanted you to pick and not catching any other pokemon for the whole playthrough, so OOPSY DAISY looks like you'll need to restart :3It's boring, it's shit, it's a waste of time and you can't even move a single tile out of what the dev wants or you'll be locked out of the rest of the story. It's better watched as a movie since you have about as much input.
>>59536519I was sure only me and a few others would even be aware of Ghost Grey, the videos of the developer only ever got about 400 views and nobody here ever mentioned it, but it was really nice how the day Ghost Grey was released the trailer for it instantly got 10 000 views and counting.
>>59536519Yeah, I agree. Should've delved into more of the Pokegod stuff instead of being another generic entity in the cartridged haha look out you saw something you weren't supposed to and now it's self aware.
>>59536524The author is a tranny
>>59536524pokemon but with undertale/deltarune shit
>>59537076>The overall progression and structure of the game also isn't overly handholdy, you do have to figure out where to go on your own with tons of little secrets along the way. Even though everything is Ghost type you still do have a lot of different shit for teambuilding. What I worry the most about it is missing out on content due to an amateur programming it rather than big experienced studio. I do kinda wish we had a map key item or some big hint of where to go to after each gym though, I beat Maximum and now I'm unsure if I'm meant to go to Lavender Town, or Celadon, or Fuchsia since I've gotten hints that I should head into each town this far. Really enjoying it this far though. Fantastic world building and callbacks to the past.>Game does get pretty edgy/dark later on but not in a way that felt goofy, though your mileage may vary on that. There's also a part of the ending I really fucking hated but I think it's easy to recommend if you like horror in general. Can you give a vague explanation and a spoilered explanation?
>>59540413>What I worry the most about it is missing out on contentThere's no missable content in the game, at least none I could tell. But yeah, the game doesn't really tell you where to go, you have to figure it out yourself. At the moment I will tell you that you should probably check the Vermilion docks more thoroughly, maybe check the south side of the docks.>vague explanation and a spoilered explanation?Basically, don't expect things to have a happy ending where everything gets fixed The bad guys unfortunately get away with everything and it's not really possible to fix what's going on with Kanto. There might be a glimmer of hope for the future though.
>>59539638I saw a video of the complete Pokedex, thought it was pure edgekino, and immediately sought to play it. I have not played it yet.
>>59540736Same, the early entries of the Scatterbug line being overtaken by cordyceps fungus and Vivillain as an alternate final evolution really hooked me up.>>59539633I found about the game because YT recommended me a vtuber playing it and at the beginning I found it pretty interesting, mostly the interactions of how many NPCs were becoming self-aware and both Erika and Sabrina's breakdowns, but the ending felt like the dev was trying too hard to be deep when most of the stuff was literally ripped from Undertale's genocide route, including the not-Sans fight and the final choice. Considering that I would have to play the entire game just to find the hints needed to access the actual mod route, I think I'll pass on it. I might find another streamer who plays the game from the beginning and explores a bit further.
>>59541002You don't *need* to play the whole game, you can just go to the site which gets passed around pretty frequently But it's not really worth it
>>59536519>Girl mocks us for leaving Blue to die.>Also prevents us defeating Nightmare, which saves Blue’s lifeWhat the fuck does that little bitch want from us?
>>59536519Looks gay. I'm not playing your slop no matter how much you samefag about it
>>59542597>You don't *need* to play the whole game, you can just go to the site which gets passed around pretty frequentlyNTA but the developer intended for the player to piece together the link to the site with the instructions, the problem is they made it so you needed to get through 3/4 of the game before you had all the pieces (and that's IF you go out of your way to do NPC trades), I don't know about you or others but I've played through FR more than a half a dozen times already and have no interest in playing it again for the foreseeable future, and I feel like most of us here feel the same way, so playing through FireRed TWICE to get the rom hack experience is definitely asking too much.
>>59543223Yeah that's the 'intent', but just saying you can skip that if you know the website beforehand. When I played it I was spoiled on the existence of the website and didn't know it was something I had to find while playing. Even when you actually play the intended route it's also still just so boring too, just FRLG except you have a murder turtle and with some spooky dialogue up until about Lavender Town.
>>59543242NTA, but imagine this: I learn about a new horror mod, I do my best to remain unspoiled, I download it and play the game, and at some point I will end wondering if I actually patched the game because everything will be exactly the same unless I go out of my way to do in-game trades, which let's be honest, 99% of the people who play the game won't do it especially if the game itself has shown no signs of variations compared to the original.By that point I already spent a couple of hours of my time thinking that I just need to progress a bit further to reach the actual mod part of the game. What do you think I'll do? I'll have to spoil myself and learn that I have to do all of these specific actions in order to find a clue that will let me play the actual mod, which will require me to start the game from the very beginning after already wasting hours of my time playing what was nothing but a vanilla version. So yeah, that "intent" was very badly thought and the modder's sole true intention was larping as Toby Fox. I'd rather get spoiled about how to get the true route than wasting my time playing the "intended way".
>>59543242That's true, but in a way I feel like the hunt for the website is part of the enjoyment of playing the game itself, it's a shame it's not done way earlier where it would feasibly be less cumbersome to play just to get the hints.Something as simple as one of Prof Oak's aides giving you a cryptic message before Brock, or an NPC telling you to check some new exhibit at the museum and the display for the exhibit has the link, something. Anything would've been better than the NPC trades and the stupid cypher code in the screenshots of the game.
>>59543401>everything will be exactly the sameI mean, no, technically you'll have that new rock by the water in Pallet town, but like me and some others thought when we initially played; "Is the joke that the rock is the only thing different with this hack?" Because yeah, if you shrimply select the wrong starter or catch any Pokemon besides your starter or just don't evolve your starter before you defeat Brock you WILL be locked out of all the content and then the game will just be a regular FireRed copy.
>>59543416i've said this in another thread butif you wanted to do a homage to old pokemon myths, you could add those references throughout the initial "normal" playthrough. blue's dead raticate, buried alive, mew under the truck, missingno., and some others that i'm forgetting. but use those events to set up the mystery of abby until dropping a url for the website.having to follow strict instructions for the abyss route i think would go over better in this case because it's the last act of a mystery you uncovered yourself. this is what it's all been leading up to. you're already invested.if i was a pettier man i would make my own romhack with blackjack and hookers but alas. i don't wanna.
>>59543510That's just Ghost Grey
>>59543520i wouldn't know
>>59543510>if you wanted to do a homage to old pokemon myths, you could add those references throughout the initial "normal" playthrough. blue's dead raticate, buried alive, mew under the truck, missingno., and some others that i'm forgetting. but use those events to set up the mystery of abby until dropping a url for the website.Honestly way better. After you become Champion and the credits roll don't you just wake up in your house? Why not have the credits roll glitching so the player feels like something's going on and makes them stick through to the end, and when the credits are over and you're back in your house just have your guy sitting at the computer and they notice some notepad file, they open it and it's the URL for the Abby website.
>>59536519Im in Vermillion, and im talking to the lady that wants a Scarly for "Mr. Charlie". My team is literally all Scarly and she does not want to trade, what is this bullshit?
>>59543607>My team is literally all ScarlyI don't think you can do a trade if you only have 1 pokemon on your team. Keep your starter or someone else in the party as well as the Scarly and then try the trade.
>>59543662I meant that i have 4 Scarlys in my team, she's not taking any of them.
>>59543688That's fucking weird, probably a weird bug, what's she saying?I like Mr Charlie but if you don't mind spoilers he's just a Chatot and is Normal type so he's immune to Ghost type moves but it's not like, the greatest trade in the world, I bet Scarly fully evolved would be way way waaaay better for a team.
>>59543708I closed the game for the day after progressing through more gym fights, but she just kept clarifying that she wants a Scarly even though im showing her one. I thought it would be interesting, but if thats it, im good. Thanks for the heads up.
what's a scarly?
>>59543535I think something like this and many others are missing the point. It's a normal FRLG game, unless you do the specific autistic requirements akin to Bill's Garden level of convoluted shit. The best idea I've seen is the new museum exhibit thing. It definitely needed to give hints earlier, but making them blatantly in your face with something like that takes away from the appeal of "this is just a regular FRLG copy if you don't do everything the creepypasta says"That said there are a lot of clunky things about the setup, and I actually think the blog post ARG stuff was pretty lame. Typing an address from your "game cart" feels silly. Though I know what they were going for. Ultimately the challenge was making a "vanilla" normal game that exists soelely for the creepypasta lore to have proper worldbuilding. Making it deviate too much from the norm hurts the setup.
>>59545282Starly, but scary!
Dont care. Green Essentials is way more interesting than whatever forced reddit meme is being pushed here.>>59537457Exactly. I miss when some games had you explore the game files to do some 4th wall breaking but it was completely optional and actually went somewhere instead of "OMG IMAGINATION BAD!" by the same retards who bemoan the current state of vidya. Then the same hypocrite retards worship old games they were too young to have grown up with, made decades ago by people who were nothing at all like them, and who didn't instantly shut down their community for having different opinions and bringing new features to the table. Neurotic control freaks (discordfags) have no place in creative communities and should be pushed out.
>>59536454i don't get it
>>59543905>I closed the game for the day after progressing through more gym fights, but she just kept clarifying that she wants a Scarly even though im showing her one. I thought it would be interesting, but if thats it, im good. Thanks for the heads up.If you still read this anon I can spoil you about what happens if you make the trade. The old lady says she isn't long for this world and she would like someone to take care of her Chatot since he's apparently the last of its kind, if you make the trade she'll be happy and if you talk to her again (whether right away or after a while) she'll comment on how happy Mr Charlie looks and then she'll fade away, either the point is she was always a ghost herself or she died while you were away and her spirit lingered long enough to see you and Charlie once more.
Green and I keep leaving rocks by the water to engagement farm the redditors. This funds our trip to Hoenn every autumn.
>>59545543we get the point. the point is stupid.
the rock in question:
>>59548976That's a geode.
>>59537820>>59538348ESL or just retarded?
