>>59544929What >>59544930 wrote. There's no official info about how pokeballs fundamentally function and why a ball couldn't hold two different pokemon or more. For all we know, the balls featured in the games and manga are just magical gachapon capsules able to force pokemon to shrink down, or in the anime high-tech devices able to convert pokemon into energy (the ancient anime-exclusive variants also rely on magic, but they would still do the energy-conversion thing). My guess would be that two pokemon cannot occupy the same space, as the magic behind that wouldn't allow it, or this would result in some (horrible) fusion like picrel (hints at that being a possibility are Bill's teleporter or Spiritomb). Similarly to (or maybe exactly because of) how two sets of data cannot occupy the same save space. Well, they could, but then you have to replace said space with something that represents both while this new representation is neither the one nor the other. Differently phrased, a mix of both. Regarding pokemon consisting of multiple entities, my guess would be that certain pokemon don't necessarily have to consist of one entity / soul / body / mind state, but can as multiple ones. Those "clusters" are for some species-specific reason stable enough to allow for the existence of multiple entities, without the danger of this cluster collapsing and merging. The capitalist answer: Can't sell more pokeballs if you keep using the same one over and over again.

Is there some special event or is it just the "buy 10 + get 1 free" Pokémart offer which is the Premier Ball's entire schtick? >>59559210or you could not give a flying shit and keep everything in random balls?
>>59546205The funniest thing is that as per Legends Arceus reaffirming that, at least within game canon, it's the Pokemon themselves that do the shrinking to fit inside Balls, the only really technological parts of Poke Balls may be the opening/closing and locking mechanisms... (thinking about it outside of the heat of the moment, why the fuck has it even been made possible from an in-universe product design standpoint to "hack" balls from the outside so that they can't open such as what happens in SV story climax?) plus whatever design quirks specific models have for increasing likelihood of capture or making a Pokemon housed inside more comfortable, or whatever it is Heal Balls pull out to do their thing. So a simple answer would be that a Pokemon resting inside a ball would not want to share that space with another, and/or that there's a lower limit to how tiny a size all Pokemon can shrink to and Poke Balls are only made big enough to accomodate one.
>>59559210>it would only encourage players to Quick Ball everything and then change it later.Yes, and? Just have switching balls cost a specific amount per ball and the player has to pay even more if they don't provide the ball.There. Encourages players not to quick ball everything but gives them the agency to do so.
>>59559392Paying the price difference between a Quick Ball and another ball doesn't cover the true cost: the risk of the Pokémon getting away. Sending out a shiny or roaming from a normal Poké, Premier, or Luxury Ball (1x) shows they know how to play the game better than coming out from a Dusk (3x), Quick (4x), or Timer (4x) Ball. Using an easy-mode ball then putting it in a 1x ball hides your lack of skill, unless they put a outline or asterisk on every switched ball, and have it forced visible in both the UI and gameplay, including online battles and trades.
>>59559482>hides your lack of skillKek, okay autist. Nobody (who's of a sound mind) cares if the ball a pokemon is in is the one it was initially caught in.

The anime had the better idea to introduce pokeballs as technical devices and them converting pokemon into an energy-like state, but given how most autists will predictably shit on the anime as non-canon-trash, one's stuck with this weird lore.In addition, Emma's Expansion Suit also features the "Poké Ball Jack" function, which confirms modern pokeballs are full of electronics. Quoting the Secret Records by Xerosic in XY:>2. Poké Ball Jack>A hacking cable on the neck piece allows the wearer to upload a computer virus to Poké Balls and override their systems. This provides access to control the Pokémon. The virus also magnifies the Pokémon’s power.>plus whatever design quirks specific models have for increasing likelihood of capture or making a Pokemon housed inside more comfortable, or whatever it is Heal Balls pull out to do their thing.Pokeball variants must be made of different materials (Apricorn Balls requiring differently colored Apricorns, meaning those are different species (?), the Hisuan Balls having different crafting recipes, Origin Ball using Origin Ore and the Red Chain), perhaps the composition resonates differently with the pokemon essence, causing different effects.>Pokemon housed inside more comfortable>Like a suite with furnitures and stuffYeah no, that's bullshit you tell impressionable children so you don't have to explain the complicated and mundane matter at hand. >>59560709>The anime had the better idea to introduce pokeballs as technical devices and them converting pokemon into an energy-like stateUnironically based. Trvth Nvke!
>>59560709There does seem to be some amount of disconnect in this matter, still. Both game canon and what seems to be happening in the anime canon make sense independent of each other, but both are muddled by the existence and occasionally-appearing elements of the other. If game-canon balls are, at their very simplest, just a gashapon capsule with a lock mechanism, then what exactly IS all the electronic stuff that the modern balls clearly have *for*? What is the purpose of them having software, to a point where they can be remotely disabled or even the Pokemon inside somehow "controlled"? And on the anime side, we have relatively clear visuals of another apparent explanation for the balls' functions (energy-matter conversion), but then, how much of the game canon applies to this version, if at all outside of the basic inspiration? Also I don't see why you'd object to the idea of a poke ball's interior having comfort considerations. In the case of Pokemon shrinking to fit inside, it's perfectly sensible. In the case of energy conversion, we still have to work with it being obviously canon that the Pokemon are still conscious in there the whole time, given they can exit the balls of their own volition, etc. They must have some sort of "experience" in there. Hell, it's part of the characterisation for the most prominent monster character in the anime, Ash's Pikachu, that he doesn't like being inside a ball.
>>59556402I honestly never would have guessed. This is also the icing on the cake previously baked that we miss out on a lot by not knowing the Japanese names.

>>59539193I always thought it was supposed to loosely resemble Mewtwo's color scheme and design
>>59561516It's more likely a reference to the double helix structure of DNA.Once registered, a pokemon's biology is identified, granting the Repeat Ball all the necessary information to exploit this species' weaknesses, in order to improve the capture rate (at least that's my explanation).

>>59561694that is likely, but not exclusively so, because the arrow loop animation could be referencing replication as well as ad infinitum
>>59561670There is no magenta on Mewtwo. Mewtwo however is considered to be based upon Frieza, who is magenta and purple, as well as bulbous, and characterized in no small part by two protruding masses on the sides of his head.
>>59561494It's really odd why the English translation even had to completely redefine certain names and concepts. Did they want to be special or what? You won't find any of those issues in German for example.>>59556298 Ultra Balls are a perfect blatant example for this, the yellow H literally alludes to the name, so why even change it? And when SM came out, there were now two Ultra Balls: The Japanese Hyper Ball, and the ball designed to catch Ultrabeasts. An avoidable issue if the English translation would have simply adapted the Hyper Ball name.Another example would be Lt. Surge, who's actually a Major in the Japanese original. That's not only a name change, but a major (heh) alteration of his character, implying a Major would be a greater authority than a Lieutenant. No reason for making such a drastic change either.
>>59561875Well, the double helix also repeats the same pattern, so there's that.
>>59538903Great balls suck ass, I agree.Additionally, the English names for the Super Ball and Hyper Ball suck ass as well.Super and Hyper are much better than Great and Ultra, and they also fall in line with the naming scheme used for the potions (Super/Hyper).
>>59563013>Additionally, the Japanese names for the Great Ball and Ultra Ball suck ass as well.Ftfy. You'll always be a gaijin to them.
>>59563013>Super and Hyper are much better than Great and Ultra, and they also fall in line with the naming scheme used for the potions (Super/Hyper)Great and Ultra parallel the comparative functions of Super and Hyper (super and great describing something being better or above the standard Poké Ball, and ultra and hyper being even better or higher above). The issue isn't that great and ultra are incorrectly used, but rather why super and hyper had to be rewritten in the first place, when those terms already exist in the same meaning in the English language.>>59563101>literally carrying over concepts from one language to another is considered cocksucking nowGrim.
>>59561178>If game-canon balls are, at their very simplest, just a gashapon capsule with a lock mechanism, then what exactly IS all the electronic stuff that the modern balls clearly have *for*? What is the purpose of them having software, to a point where they can be remotely disabled or even the Pokemon inside somehow "controlled"?It really is convoluted and nonsensical when the entire shrinking mechanism can be broken down to pure magic. Electronics would make only sense when it's all about tracking a pokeball or to ID the captured pokemon, but those are just external functions which don't affect the pokemon directly. It can't be stressed enough that the game-canon pokeballs aren't responsible for causing a pokemon to shrink down / to put them inside the ball, since that's what pokemon naturally do, according to lore. All a pokeball does is confining a pokemon and influencing the catch rate, considering the materials used for that specific pokeball may have some magical effect on the pokemon to make it stay inside. But the idea that a computer virus can now suddenly affect a pokemon is really disconnected. Unless, this is just magic reinterpreted as Sci-Fi in order to make the presented tech and lore appear futuristic and marvelous, without looking antique. The issue is just that the technical aspect is redundant, as it could be easily replaced with more magic.
>>59563101Bodied that weeb.
>>59561178>And on the anime side, we have relatively clear visuals of another apparent explanation for the balls' functions (energy-matter conversion), but then, how much of the game canon applies to this version, if at all outside of the basic inspiration? The anime had from the start its own drastical reinterpretations of the franchise. The most blatant example being how pokemon are never depicted as shrinking down in the sense of their bodies turning smaller and smaller, but them turning into a flurry of light / energy (heard somewhere this was for budget reasons, as drawing pokemon turning into smaller forms would be too complicated in the long run, compared to just drawing blobs of mono-colored lights. But given how most episodes and movies play into this energy-conversion idea (that one giant Jigglypuff / Alakazam / Gengar episode with solid artifacts being able to dispense those pokemon, or the Lucario movie where a gemstone is used to contain said Lucario.), it seems like an intentional choice. Another example being that not the pokemon shrink down, but it's actually the pokeball that does the "magic" (far later in the series in SM, Faba introduces the class to a shrinking ray machine which he states is used in pokeballs. This episode however conflicts with the previous "established" anime canon, as the shrinking ray actually shrinks the pokemon (or in this case humans) down and not turn them into energy). The original and game-canon ideas are still referenced (like in that one Ninetales ghost episode where a porcelain pokeball ("Lokoko Ball") with the concept art design is used, which is notably missing the technical interior all the other pokeballs have), but it's really hard to draw any hard conclusions from any of those episodes, as most introductions to anime-exclusive, ancient or unusual pokeballs were one-offs, confined to one episode, never to be referenced again in the future. [...]
[...] Because to be sincere, they were always just filler episodes which were never meant to have a major or longlasting impact on the entire series, other than elements canonically existing in the games.>Also I don't see why you'd object to the idea of a poke ball's interior having comfort considerations. It's more about the idea that there's literally a physical room with solid objects inside the balls, when all we see is either them being just black void hollow balls (game canon) or technical instruments designed to keep compressed energy inside (anime-canon). Then again, it doesn't seem to fucking matter, since all of this is already based on loony magic, why not also have a pocket dimension with a giant villa inside each pokeball? The anime also has very few contradicting examples of what it's like for the pokemon to be inside a ball (picrel), but then again those are also just episode-confined wacky interpretations. For my part, I believe they are just visual representations for the pokemon essence and consciousness residing inside the balls, which would be much better and less disturbing to convey to the (young) audience than having a compresses ball of energy trapped inside a container.

We only get info about:>past Hisui pokeballs made by hand (and totally not a retcon and inspired by their future appearence) and their future mass-produced successors, also implying there was and only is only line of pokeball model / architecture used over the years>how the shrinking mechanism was randomly discovered in 1925 when a Mankey hid in a glasses case (going by official non-game media, which as already mentioned conflicts with current lore)>them being for some reason based on organic Apricorn fruits and later on synthetic materials (?) (lots of questions regarding colored Apricorns: Why weren't they used in the past similar to the Brown species? Are they modern inventions? Is the method Kurt uses to produce Johto Balls entirely different compared to the one to produce Hisuan balls? Could modern Poké, Great and Ultra Balls still be created using Brown Apricorns and additives? Why aren't there any Brown Apricorns to be found in games set in the present time?). >different additives being used to enhance or alter the pokeball's catch behavior (unexplained how these would even affect the pokemon, when it's not the pokeball, but the pokemon which initiates the shrinking; we can only assume the pokeball material has some passive magical or physical effect on the pokemon)(also going by PLA, for some unexplained reason Feather and Heavy Balls and their upgrades as well as the Origin Ball were abandoned)>some pokeballs are so complex that their research and production is difficult or limited, resulting in them being later invented (Master Ball)>ongoing research and introduction of new pokeball variants>single skilled individuals and entire corporations like Silph, Devon and an unspecified corpo in Kalos producing pokeballs
>some very limited details about the logistics and production of pokeballs (of particular interest would have been where and how rare sources of raw materials are and when they are considered worth mining, how raw materials are gathered and processed, what other uses they have aside from being used for pokeball production etc.; but as expected, we get nothing of use, aside from natural deposits in PLA and Apricorn trees in various games) >they somehow limiting a pokemon's true strength (according to Cyrus), meaning you need other means (e.g. Red Chain) to bring out a pokemon's true powers>there being other forms of containers suitable as pokeball alternatives (already mentioned glasses case, Aether cage), which are somehow rarely used or shown>how their main purpose is catching and keeping pokemon, not containing those like prisoners (Terapagos breaking out of a Master Ball), so pokemon seem (?) free to leave at any moment>they are affected by Dynamax and can grow in size>the modern variants featuring electronics, which as repeatedly shown or implied can be disrupted, hacked and even enhance the pokemon itself (the latter being another weird detail, as they seemingly do indeed affect a pokemon, instead of being just a dumb container; again probably something about the pokeball's material or hull magically influencing a pokemon, similar to pokeball variants)>there's a rule for having only six pokemon at hand (not explained why not more)>Pokemon being bound to their pokeballs, as seen with trading and teleporting them into PCs>trainers being able to tame pokemon without a pokeball (Elm, also as seen in PLA), so they're more a convenience than a necessity>them being able to hold multiple entities and inanimate objects attached to those, though it's not precisely explained why that is and why some combined pokemon species (Slowbro line variants = Slowpoke + Shellder; Rider Calyrex; Necrozma Infestation) are exceptions to this rule
>the Odd Keystone which contains Spiritomb could be an ancient and arcane method of containing spirits, though it's not really further elaborated and if there's a connection to pokeballs To sum up the game canon, we know more about how a pokeball behaves than why it does what it does. They just arbitrarily do what they do, and the lore never really elaborates on why. Also no clear distinction either if pokeballs are just containers or if they influence or even induce the shrinking process of pokemon. Variants and the reason why they're variants are also unexplained; we are only shown different materials being used (colored Apricorns, colored Tumblestones, Iron, Origin Ore + Red Chain), but it remains a mystery what particular effects each of those might have.
>>59539036Looks good on Manectric though
>>59570783>>59570797>>59570799There's also this monologue from Lucian (the bottommost one). In Platinum, we still had offhand lore morsels in the games reinforcing that it's the Pokemon who do the shrinking (translated as "curling up tight" in English here, so even translators were a bit on this).
>>59570827>a bit on this*a bit lost on this, even.
>>59570827Thanks. This further adds to the discrepancy between pokemon and pokeball induced shrinking.
>>59538903this fuckin piece of shit for making kid me think it's better than it actually is>>59545256I don't gaf about that I'm a guy with hair down to my ass and I hate troons
>>59570827So the lore was shit even in Sinnoh. Interesting, but it still should've been retconned.Leave it to GF to always fuck everything up, though.
>>59538944Love the way they look but the way the formula for those ball work is still kind of shit.
>>59571845bet you'd look plappable if shaved >:3
>>59571845The England Ball.
>>59572995Catch some fookin' mons.
>>59539193Wario's tight thong
>>59562099I think the ultra ball just went based on easy enough to understand American English. Hyper isn't inherently intuitive and would lead to some confusion, which wouldn't be good considering it's the best ball. We have to remember pokemon was at one time a new IP and had to play it safe. Localization always just goes with the easier to understand option. Great vs Hyper is ambiguous, whereas great and ultra ( sharing the base ultimate, vergi the ultimate ball) have a hierarchy.
>>59565317Incredible taste.
>>59573397ThisDigimon had the same issue with it's localized evolution names, that resulted in the same translation snarls, with Perfect and then Ultimate, becoming Ultimate and then Mega. There's an ambiguous/contrary hierarchy to the Japanese-used English words, that English adaptations change because it's not intuitive to English speakers. In other non-Japanese languages, they just use the Japan-English because it's arbitrary to them anyways, but in English, the name choices are more ambiguous and harder to parse. Hyper and Great have no real qualitative relationship to eachother, while Great and Ultra doPerfect just doesn't make sense as the non-final evolution in English (but Ultimate was a very unfortunate choice given that the next stage is called Ultimate in Japanese.)
>>59573397>>59573929Regarding velocities, terms like supersonic and hypersonic seem intuitive, so idk if hyper is really that abstract or rarely used. Ultrasound describes something entirely unrelated.Maybe it's just me, but "super" or "great" always described how something's better compared to a standard, and "hyper" and "ultra" underlined or exaggerated the superiority of said object even more.
>>59556159Enjoy
>>59538903The heal ball is kind of underwhelming and its gimmick is short of being useless. The lure ball is made redundant because of the dive ball and net ball which also look somewhat better
>>59538917And totally shit to use
>>59573992Hehe
>>59575774Heal Ball would be useful if Pokémon was a survival game and free healthcare / instant healing items / Pokécenters were scarce / non-existentAs for the latter three, it's kinda difficult to fix it as all of these overlap in their purpose (fishing <-> water environment <-> Water Types). Maybe increase the catch rate (5x) of the Lure Ball to justify it's existence as a ball specialized in fishing, as 4x doesn't seem that better compared to 3,5x. Or alter the Dive Ball into what its name suggests, a Ball intented for underwater use (useless in game without diving mechanics, I know).
>>59575774Heal ball is just an excuse to be a link Pokeball, I got a lot of girly shit in them.
Does he match a Strange Ball or is that just cope for me wanting to use the Alpha I caught in Arceus over breeding a new one?
The NIGGERBALL designed to catch NIGGERS because there are too many NIGGERS to catch with it!!!!
>>59539036>most broken pokeball is the ugliestIt makes perfect sense.
>>59575871It would be cool if the Heal Ball healed a percentage of the Pokemon's HP after battle.
>>59539028Latios wants Premiere Ball to match Luster Purge's animation better.
>>59576074Then it would be too useful and everyone would use it for everything. Luxury Ball will remain the only ball with a lasting benefit.
>>59539036fuck you
>>59576087Then make it more expensive, it still only has a 1x catch rate.
>>59576329Could be one solution.
>>59539071Safari Ball's cousin, design-wise.
>>59573992A shame there aren't more pokeball references (aside from the shiny).
>>59539193It looks like a pokeball plushie which someone put Waluigi panties on upside-down.
>>59556430Who the fuck would cook eggs for 55+ minutes?
I have this headcanon where the cherish ball is the rich bastard's ball of choice which would explain why you can't get it. All those cool eventmons that come in them? Wealthy sponsors.
>>59539036Perfect for a Grappleoct
>>59560709>>Pokemon housed inside more comfortable>>Like a suite with furnitures and stuffI think when the pokemon are converted to energy they get digitized, sorta like Sun/Moon's Poképelago for the pokemon in the pc PC, pokemon in their balls get a simulated matrix world to hang out in.
>>59581823I always imagined it's like one of the bottom screens in XY. Now that i actually need it I can't find any pictures of it but you could cycle it between that, the PSS, and super training. Maybe it was where you accessed Amie from but i remember it had screensaver/desktop buddy vibes with your party wandering around and you could change themes/decorations on it or something like that? Its been a while and I didn't particularly like XY so i've memoryholed most of it but i swear i'm not making that bit up
>>59581843That was a thing yes, i just replayed X
>>59539193It's made for Venonat, it's even got a little squiggle where the mouth should go.

>>59580335Would be kind of fun secret. If you kept leveling a Voltorb without evolving it, it would get the new designs. Like 50-75 Great Form, 76-99 Ultra form, 100 Master Form
>>59539251>pastel pink as a 3D model and all media>deep hot pink in the status screen of the mainline gamesHad to go looking for this image and it seems they finally fixed the menu sprite in SV, >The time between the Japanese release of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl on September 28, 2006, and the release of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet on November 18, 2022, is 16 years, 1 month, and 21 days (or 5,895 total days).Average Game Freak improvement wait time.
>>59582703Similar issue with the red half of the regular Poké Ball and all variants based on its design. Starting from their introduction in Gen3 up to Gen8 (until Gen9 abandoned sprites in favor of using artworks for depicting items), the in-game sprites had an orange hue, instead of the reddish or red-pinkish color Poké Balls were usually depicted in various media back then. It could have been an artistic choice to deal with the odd coloring issues of the Gameboy's screen back then, but that wouldn't hold true with Gen4 when the NDS screens had already better lighting. Not to mention other sprites in those games depicting Poké Balls had the correct reddish color, meaning it's a clear proof that Game Freak simply lazily copied the sprite sheets from one game to another without correcting them.

>>59561694>>59561516Isn't it just meant to be the center circle repeated across the top of the ball
>>59575774The Heal Ball is what Pokeballs should have been. They are useful in early game and dungeons where backtracking to a Pokemon Center is inconvenient.
>>59582703Kek. And quite a few people are expecting WW to not be trash.
>>59583799That was the notion in some earlier posts.
>>59561694I caught Chi-Yu in a Repeat Ball without the dex entry and you'd swear they nerf the rate below 1 without the dex data considering it took multiple attempts and like 200 balls.
Ultra Balls really do starting in gen 4, why would I use an ultra ball when I could use a quick, timer, dusk, or net ball?
>>59587061Outside of the rare balltism. I haven't used a timer ball since Gen 4 despite the buff when Critical captures exist.
new balltism idea
>>59587944Its giving incel
>>59565252Pokeballs are simply too iconic to hate.>>59562099So it turns out the reason for replacing Super and Hyper with Great and Ultra were "trademark restrictions" ... what? Why isn't that bullshit, when several languages kept the original names?>https://tcrf.net/Development%3APok%C3%A9mon_Red_and_Blue/Localization_Glossaries/English
>>59589413>Why isn't that bullshit, when several languages kept the original names?Trademarks are country specific. If Wham-O or Williams didn't register their respective games with a nation's IP office, Nintendo wouldn't have to worry about getting sued for it there.
>>59589484That's ... lame.
>Strange ball is built for Shiny Dialga>Diagla is shiny locked in Legends.
>>59590751>That's... good.Ftfy. Great and Ultra are improvements on the japanese names.
>>59556402>>59556298>Ultra Ball is Hyper Ball>Great Ball is Super Ball and MIGHT be inspired by SupermanHuh, what a coincidence DC has a character whose powers are described as "hyper" (he's basically another galaxy's equivalent to Superman but older and more experienced) and he sort of has the Ultra Ball's color scheme with the yellow and black stripes on his well...pelvis
>>59593026Such superior improvements that English-speaking anons are clueless what they're based on, unless you point out the original names and design, and everything comes together. I'd stick with Super and Hyper.>>59593043Unsurprisingly, GF back then might have just taken inspiration from pop culture, like they do to this day.
>>59593160>English-speaking anons are clueless what they're based onIt's not any kind of mystery, we already have Super and Hyper potions.
>>59593339Why not stick with these comparative words?
>>59594957>Why not stick with these comparative words?Because Superball was already a major toy brand and would have caused legal issues. Using that original name in English was never an option.
>>59575974kek

>>59538903all of the balls added in gen 2, theyre all fucking stupid and hyperspecific to the point where theres no reason to ever use them unless you have balltismapricorns are a cute mechanic and all but i wish hgss retconned out the gen 2 balls and just assigned the gen 3/4 to the apricorns instead

>>59598431Nothings worse for a feature than ending up as a gimmick.
>>59599282If only Game Freak didn't treat them as one-off trophies.
>>59595127An inverted Love Ball would be gay.
>>59573992Would be an interesting idea if the Voltorb and Foongus line had alternative forms based on pokeballs, with unique abilities inspired by them.
>>59600656Similar to Vivillon, which could be either purely cosmetical, or have additional small perks limited to their form.Considering the Foongus line being mushrooms, which get their nutrients from plants and trees, they could in the case of colored Apricorn trees mimic the Johto Balls and appear more fequently around these trees.
I confess I put my catch crushes in the loveball
>>59600712poke crushes* Sry
Why luxury ball, of course
>>59600760>yellow instead of goldYou've got scammed, Anon.
>>59595692>I've realized I despise pokeballs that don't have a solid white bottomYeah, I agree, it kind of fucks up the whole pokeball aesthetic. At the very least, the bottom's color shouldn't match the top even if it's not white, but oddly enough there's no design like that.
>>59600868Now that I think about it, the Safari Ball should have had the camo pattern on both halves (similar to how the Dive Ball is a ball made for water environments). The white is out of place and completely disrupts the illusion.
>>59550432Both the highest tier look overdesigned.

The fact that there are so many bad looking Pokeballs proves gamefreak can't design worth a shit. And their good designs are totally by accident.
