I was ten when pokemania started in the USI didn't grow out of it, I was disappointed from the start. I wanted a cool game with these interesting monsters, but we were constantly shoveled shit>r/bstory was lacking, had a few alright moments, but I wanted more that what was offered>snapwas shit, came here for a monster adventure not to take pictures. It would have been fine if it was a stadium mini game not a 60 dollar game>stadiumgood post game battles, but not much else>g/sMuch better than the original but I just wanted more than what was presented.I remember playing paper mario, and wondering why I couldn't get a story like this in pokemon, reading both pokemon manga wishing the games could be like that.Between the gap between g/s and r/s I got a PS2 for xmas and I played many rpgs>almost all square rpgseven went back and played the SNES ones>all of dragon quest up until then>lunar 1+2>chrono trigger/cross>played monster rpgs like Jadecoon>played Arc the lad realized it was made the same year as (r/g) in japanhere is the monster arena side game where you can pit party members and monsters you captured against other players. 20x better than any Pokémon game to dateThe things in Pokémon manga happened in this game.>crazy missions like destroying a cultist outpost>destroying a monster creation factory>horrific fusions and crazy boss battles>School yard rumors made about Pokémon actually happened in this gameTraversing to the bottom of a fifty floor dungeon to fight a super boss,to acquire them as a party member, and then said party member having a crazy sidequest where they reveal their true past, traverse even farther into the fifty floor dungeon and have the equivalent a mega-evolution more than eighteen years before pokemon had them. That made me quit pokemon altogether, I tried to get into it by playing mystery dungeon ranger .Honestly Mystery Dungeon is what I was pokemon was from the fucking start world and story wise. cont..
Well, anon? Where's the cont.? I'm at the edge of my seat here
>>59546162oooops.......I got distracted.
>>59543669Yawn... just a "pokeyman was never good" shadow thread.
I just grew up and it didn't feel the same
>>59543669The rumors that people made up on the school yard came to fruition in mystery dungeon and others games instead of the dull trite garbage we got from the main series.>secret dungeons>super bosses>strange recruitables>cool new areas Meanwhile the main series had static sprites and lack of story, and shit graphics.> want to give the series a chance again with D/P after seeing some battle revolution battles in 2007>get battel revolution included as a gift as well>Static sprites after mystery dungeon>bullshit natures?>reused N64 models on the wii?> invisible iv/ev grinding just to get a decent online battle?>say fuck it and turn my back on the series entirelyI popped my head in at the begining of each gen to see what's up. Also check out the world tournament every year, but the series just feels lack luster in comparison to what's out there.
>>59543669I quit when I realized the games were always low-effort shit. Right from the beginning.
>>59548505Kek, proving this anon's >>59548482 point.
>>59543669I quit because the other kids quit when Pokemania started truly dying out after Emerald released. Or rather, I eventually quit after a long while of verbal bullying because I was the only kid who still lived and breathed Pokemon, didn’t help that Emerald is my favorite pkmn game of all time, still is to this day. I then became a contrarian and started hating pokemon and skipped out on the entire DS & 3DS era, the contrarianism didn’t stop even when pokemon was becoming “cool” again when XY were announced. It was only until SwSh did I get an epiphany that I was a fool for keeping up this nonsensical charade, even if ultimately, SwSh was a bad game to return to, but I’m glad I returned to pkmn nonetheless.I wish I could go back in time and tell my younger self that those other school kids are fucking trash and their approval never, ever mattered. I haven’t spoken to any of them for two decades, and I missed out on growing up with the franchise from its inception to where it is now.
>>59548602> those other school kids are fucking trash Correct message, wrong execution. They quit for the wrong reasons. >trying to seem mature>saying anything colorful is for babies>making you feel like shit for playing it.Don't let others decide what games you play.I stopped because there was better out there, and I wasn't going take gamefreak's shit anymore.
cant believe i was such a fucking dork but i genuinely quit pokemon after my gf broke up with me in 7th grade, we played D/P together alot since we lived in the same neighborhood then i just could get back into it. eventually got back into it during the 3ds but i missed platinum and bw/b2w2 over a girl whos name i dont even remember lmfao id bully the shit out of middle school me if i could
>>59543669>>59548490People give SV a lot of shit, and they should to some extent because the state they shipped the game in was actually embarrassing. But I still really liked it, because it's finally starting to represent Pokémon like I always imagined as a child. With Pokémon freely roaming the world, battles without any weird transitions, correctly represented sizes etc. And it's also the first fucking time where I thought the story was actually a decent JRPG story that Pokémon was always missing. It's still more of a "baby's first JRPG" story, but it's still more than what we got in previous gens.I had only superficial interest in Pokémon since gen 4, but now I'm fully invested again. Its honestly a miracle I even started playing SV despite how it looked but I'm glad I did.
