Is collecting pokemon ethical, if you don't have the means to provide for each one of these living creatures (let's say, more than six pokemon)?Is it better for a pokemon to spend a full and natural life in the wilderness, rather than carving out a miserable existence in the stasis of a PC's box, never to be put to use again?Is mass breeding creating more suffering and adding to overpopulation, when all these lives are just unwanted sideproducts of getting a shiny or a pokemon with perfect stats?
