yeah, that's it. if you have debug mode on (if you don't you should turn it on), check Unicode, and check if if 0010: NewGamePlus is set to [ON], when I played some of these switches were set to [OFF] despite fulfilling the requirements for them to be [ON]. make sure that 0006: Reborn is set to [ON] for an extended early game quest
the only switches I'm not sure what they do are ShaydaCharm (I think you have to finish her ng+ quest for this one) and EizenTowerSkip (I think this one means the Xenpurgis towers, but mine was off)

First boss I felt like I had to hard cheese something dumb like bastiodon crest. I don't know what you're supposed to do to deal with his later health bars legit, short of backing out of the place and breeding a whole specialized team just to hard counter his mechs. He just spams hard hitting attacks and has stat boosts that get out of hand with his high stats, cleansed all his status conditions including when I tried to use curse which has been mostly effective on bosses to this point.

I'll probably get to figure out a less fake way to fight him when I do him again on a NG+ when I'm less blind to the game though. This chapter has already been way too fucking long with too much yap and characters I dislike though I can't be assed to play fair. Gg

I don't count tries because I'm prone to changing my strat on the first few turns and do a shit ton of soft resets, but if you were to count ALL of them it would easily be 100+, but it didn't take me many tries after beating Saki and realizing burn and shiinotic's crest would be a good idea. also, I was wrong for doubting topsy turvy (>>59555522), I found an use for it in this fight, after the field changes and he gets an omni boost I used it to turn it into an omni debuff
shiinotic turned almost unkillable with its crest because it got hp from the leech sheed on 1 enemy, the burn on both, more from ingrain, and lastly from meganium's crest (plus the damage reduction). it also dealt a lot of damage thanks to illuminate giving it a +2 sp. atk boost on entry (on the first field), and both fields boosting dazzling gleam

There is no "fair play" in this game. Every characters in reniggade have illegal EV while you're restricted to 510.

I fucked up with meganium and didn't realize I never changed its stats, but I should have put the EVs on spa to def and changed its nature to a defensive one, also heal pulse wasn't really needed so I guess it could also be changed for a different move

kinda, if the AI notices there are 2 moves that will one shot you, then it will randomly choose one of them. not sure if there's "weight" behind those decisions or if it's just a 50/50, but weavile kept flipping between choosing icicle crash or low kick
sometimes depending on damage rolls the enemy might choose different moves, but I play with the password that makes damage rolls consistent so I can kinda script most fights. the problem is the ting I just mentioned, secondary effects, and crits

but i think the only significant usecase for it in reborn from what i've heard is dealing with rayquaza's roaming bullshit

no idea why you can still find them in rejuv, that gives you the spice scent by default and somehow there's lootable repels on new maps which seems like a communication issue
i think there might even be repels on v14 maps too, wouldn't be surprised really
at least desolation is aware from the start that repels are useless because of the jinx scent (because every game must give its encounter rate adjustment feature a different name)

I am planning on doing the Anna route for this though the game just makes a split save upon reaching Lin so I could just load that for the Lin route content, or alternatively I could just do the Lin route on a third playthrough

idk when that update will come out but it'd be interesting to see some non-randomizer options for spicing up repeat playthroughs
maybe something that switches around major fights' teams/formats/fields, or a proper doubles mode with all fights designed for it (as opposed to how it currently is where singles teams are reused so the fights are either significantly easier or significantly harder, fuck pulse clawitzer btw) would be fun
and so would having gen 8/9 mons be actually present as a password
there's already gen 9 moves and such in the code (check the debug menu) so having a way to use newer gens' mons in reborn without outdated mods would be great

Pretty good support mon, jeez. Would work pretty well next to a gyarados or something. Minun doesn't get lightning rod sadly but it's alright for a physical walling duo too.

repels work by making it so pokémon that are under your party's level can't spawn (which in 99% of cases means it filters out all of them), but it has no effect on the ones that are higher level than your party, this is useful to get the level 100 budew in Neo Gearen for the grassium Z, for example. the spice scent straight up works on all wild encounters regardless of level

Didn't even know this was a thing. Can be useful if you need to catch a rare pokémon or if you want just to complete the pokédex.

iirc, if you come back they sell the opposite, a lure that *only* makes pokémon that are the same species as the holder to appear, if possible. don't really use that one, but magnetic lure is always on at least 1 of my 'mons whenever I explore a new area
