>>59609478Out of these two? Unpopular opinion but Johto. Not that I don't like Johto but in terms of design the Unova starters always seemed more interesting to me than the Johto starters. I'm convinced the gen 5 starters would be way more liked if they had better Typings and stats, preferably completely unused typings at the time for starters or at least 2/3 unused since we had both Blaziken and Infernape as Fire/Typing. So perhaps Samurott could've been Water/Fighting and had really high physical attack, Emboar been Fire/Ground and had really high special attack, and Serperior Grass/Electric and a fast special attacker glass canon. If going by the 2/3 unused rule then I'd say Serperior makes the most sense to not have a unique typing of the three, either stay mono Grass or be Grass/Poison like Venusaur.In general though? Probably any gen 6+ starter with each gen since getting progressively worse, gen 9 being the worst starters of all, and the gen 10 starters don't look very hopeful so far either. The only gen 6+ starter I like is Decidueye since it's not humanoid AND has a cohesive design. Skeledirge isn't humanoid either but the whole design just looks messy as fuck and the fire on the sides of its head look like clown hair. I'd argue Skeledirge is the worst starter to date in general.

I'd say the johto starters are worse because I really can't be excited to pick any one of them, but I'll be glad enough to use the Snivy or Oshawatt line. The Johto starters are kind of an anomaly in how bad they are for old pokemon, and they're even stuck between the two gens that gave us easily the best starters in the series.

>>59609557At first I thought that too but then I remembered Rillaboom which is actually a pretty solid design if only it weren't for that dumb drum that it always carries around. It can keep the stick as the stick is no dumber than Abra's evolutions holding spoons but an entire drum is just silly. Also not sure how I feel about the face being bright orange. I feel like a much darker orange that's almost brown would look better. Other than that Rillaboom is really cool and could be on par with Infernape with those things fixed.But then gen 9...I don't like anyone in gen 9. Gen 9 is worse than gen 8. Skeledirge is almost cool but then people mentioned its fire looking like clown hair and I can't unsee it.
