Jolteanon here (I guess I could start calling myself that). Been working on a small story with Jay/Heather. I’ll try finishing it in this thread.Meanwhile, I decided to start reading some /sip/ stories. Previously, I’ve just read snippets of greentexts here and there, mainly from Decidueye, Mienshao, and Lucario. They were good, but I prefer prose, so I chose a random prose fic to start with: Serpent and Wyrm (https://rentry.co/serpentandwyrm)It was a very enjoyable read. My feedback for the author: I like how you wrote the protagonists and their relationship. Miirym is adorable, and it’s cute to see her repaying her owner for everything he’s done for her. You include a lot of evocative descriptions that create a clear picture, although it gets a bit excessive at times. I liked the scene in ch2 where Simon is struggling to comprehend everything. His emotions were portrayed well and felt believable. The Wurmple scene was funny and the Nickit scene was tense. It was cool to see Simon tap into his inner smugleaf there. On that note, it’s interesting to watch him trying to reign in his growing instincts while Miirym readily accepts hers. Miirym’s false memories and strange nightmare, along with the voice in Simon’s head, create a good sense of foreboding.I enjoyed the training scene too. The talk about “soulfire” and exerting pressure on the opponent makes for an interesting angle, and it was satisfying to see Simon use the serpent as motivation. The sheer quirkiness of Valerie isn’t my cup of tea, and Squire feels underdeveloped compared to his companion, but their mysterious stone is intriguing.I assumed this story would be done since it’s listed under archived stories, but it seems like it’s either cancelled or on hiatus. I dunno if the author has said anything about the story status, but if you’re reading this, I hope you continue the story someday. I’m definitely a fan.
