First of all, let me just say that I am not the Wishes of Tomorrow dev nor am I here to shill for AI. But I've been noticing an aggressive anti-AI trend in the fandom to the point that multiple fan communities have a zero tolerance policy regarding AI assets of any kind. And my question is, why do people care so much? AI is just a tool the same as MSPaint or some Python script you use to streamline your workflow. It's not like it's replacing human creators altogether. And a good/bad design is good/bad, whether it was made with AI or not. Does it really matter whether or not every individual pixel was lovingly placed by a human artist?
>>59617404The trend of attacking AI was always retarded simply because it's unfounded. I'm tired of people using AI as a derogatory term when it's literally just another tool. I am yet to hear one hater formulate a coherent thesis on why they're malding over AI, not that they'll bother trying since they've got diddly squat to base it on.
>>59617419Mutts and first worlders hate AI because they are idiots and think it will cause more people to be jobless. That's all there is to it. Now this has been proven false, but people are uneducated. Lack of information always causes demented schizos. Shrimple as. Now hiding your obvious shill thread, faggot OP.
>>59617439>they are idiotsMost definitely>and think it will cause more people to be joblessI doubt anyone believed this anymore even in 2024. Sounds to me more like a case of the creatively bankrupt not liking the fact that AI straight up removed the technical barrier on a whole lot of things, making potential and creativity all one needs to make something big. They can't make use of the tools so they try to discourage the use of said tools to feel better. That's at least how it looks to me.
I'm not interested in slop, you can do what you want, but if AI shit is in there I'm skipping it.>Does it really matter whether or not every individual pixel was lovingly placed by a human artist?Yes, retard.
>>59617464Why does it matter?
*cricketunes chirping*
>>59617419>can make custom artwork, comics, music>revolutionised brainstorming>does a lot of the tedious manual tasks If haters tried to explain objectively why AI is bad, they'd have to adress these points. Their argument is dead on arrival so they just seethe and fume while avoiding actual discussion.
>>59617467I'm only interested in things made by people.
>>59617467if you dont care enough to make it yourself why should i care enough to play it
>>59617467If you want an actual answer, AI just looks bad. I guess it’s fine if it’s code, but even then there’s a lot of cases where ai spouts bullshit and you get something midI’d rather have someone learn to code themselves so they can actually fix the inevitable bugs than see them use emboargpt to shit out a code that they’ll not know how to fix.
>>59617490>>59617491I am not forcing you to play anything, I'm asking you why does it matter. Also why the double reply.
>>59617492See, this is a coherent argument I can respect. And from my very limited experience with AI coding, it's still not there, But like >>59617488 said, AI can already make a lot of genuinely good products, which is why I am now going out of my way to make this post.
Good morning saars
>>59617404>Does it really matter whether or not every individual pixel was lovingly placed by a human artist?Yeah. Promting an AI to make art is not artistry. It's commissioning a company to make something for you. Turning around and saying it's your own work is fraudulent.
>>59617404They are just protecting their artist friends.
AI is supposed to be a tool to help workflow, not be used as a standalone final product. Especially with art assets, it's helpful to get a look or a pose and sometimes design since it blends many different things together, and based on that handcrafted into a finalized design. Otherwise you may as well just grab a fakemon or clipart from somewhere and shove it into your game. Which for a small personal project is fine I guess.AI is not original work. It is throwing millions of things into a blender for you. It's disrespectful to used as a standalone asset just the same as taking someone's art/design off Pinterest somewhere. I feel like this is where a lot of the distaste come from.
>>59617404The AI's not a problem for me with this hack, it's that the hack is just plain bad. Which is an honest shame because I've yet to see a notable hack that actually gets utilization out of pokeemerald's Shadow Pokemon scripts, and I thought this might've been the one to finally do something with it and do it good.
>>59617404Reddit faggots seething over this is hilariousMakes me want to actually play the game
>>59617464Tranny hands typed this.
>>59617439Yeah. I'm Asian and AI is pretty much normal here, nobody cares if you use AI. The anti-AI discourse seems to mostly exist in the West.
>>59617713I blame the politics of it all, AI in the west is most associated with right-wingers, and most online artists and the like are lefties, so that means there's a lot more social stake in your opinions on AI because saying you don't mind AI is like saying you don't mind that the president and most of the government are pedophiles which means you're probably a "Diddy blud" using AI to generate CP or some asinine shit like that.Contrast to other countries, where it's purely just a corporate thing, you kinda just have to accept that your CEOs wanna use AI or you lose your job for speaking out about something that seems stupid to complain about in their view.
>>59617404>Does it really matter whether or not every individual pixel was lovingly placed by a human artist?Yes It does. I won't play your game and there is nothing you can do to convince me. If you don't care about your "art" neither do I. Also I won't police what other people want to do because it's not my business but I will think of them as subhuman if they unironically enjoy fake slopshit like this.
>>59617713>>59617731The average normie in the West doesn't give a shit about either. Only terminally online losers are seething about AI. Watch Wishes of Tomorrow trailer on youtube and everyone love it. The people obessed with AI are the same people that are obsessed with politics.
>>59617732>Female avatarfagLmao YWNBAW + cry harder
>>59617404Gen AI is a tool that replaces the process of creating things with describing what you want and getting it made for you. That's an amazing deal if you're a "creator" that has an idea but lack the skill, dedication or interest needed to actually create it yourself. But to a consumer of that creation? "Now made with less talent and effort!" is hardly a selling point and often correlates with low quality creations. Thus, avoiding everything AI generated is a simple way to filter out lots of trash. Some people also don't just consider the final product, but also see value in the creative processes and creators themselves. For them the use of AI is removing a valuable part of art resulting in soulless, meaningless and uninteresting creations.
>>59617713Living in Latin America nobody cares either. It's just a white people thing to get offended over anything, maybe they actually deserve their own replacement
>>59617745I think it's hard for most "logical" thinkers to wrap their heads around as opposed to "creative" thinkers who can oftentimes clock AI art right away. For instance if you're looking at it from a sheer production perspective "text into image" is revolutionary to the worlflow, whereas from a creative perspective it's the equivalent of putting up a cardboard cutout where an actor should be. It's fake and flat, and dare I say, soulless.Honestly it's an interesting topic even though I lean more against it, personally I feel like at the bare minimum it should be disclosed if a project includes AI usage in the final product and people should have a right to choose to engage.
>>59617404When I download a romhack, I don't want to see AIslop.>AI is just a tool the same as MSPaint or some Python script you use to streamline your workflow. A tool is something like a hammer or a micro laser cutter. AI is the slop machine where you just prompt something and get a fugly slop image with no human input.>Does it really matter whether or not every individual pixel was lovingly placed by a human artist?Yes, I would lke that. It doesn't nessessarily have to be a human. It can be a Smeargle too.But it has to be a creative minds work, not the slop machine shitting out sprites.
>>59617464I don't like genslop either but realistically I'm a broke skillless asocial mf so if I ever start a personal project I'll have to resort to it as a means to an end.
>>59617916>I don't like genslop either but realistically I'm a broke skillless asocial mf so if I ever start a personal project I'll have to resort to it as a means to an end.If you don't trust in your skills, save up to pay some fucker. If you don't have skill and can't hire someone with skill, just don't make something. It's alright to just play romhacks and never make one and a lot of people actually do that.Personally my only romhack was replacing Pokémon with fakemon without changing anything about the Emerald overworld, dialogue or story.
>>59617919None care faggot, keep crying over AI lmao
Thanks to Mr. Weasley, I don't trust anything that can think for itself if I can't see where it keeps its brain. That includes AI and third-worlders.
>>59617958Trannies and indians generate AI slop.
>>59617960>China>Third worldChina loves AI and the West is irrelevant in 2026. Who gives a shit about your dying continent.
>>59617971Chink chonk!America won! Cope!
>Chinks are not creativeYeah we know
>>59617971>china>anything but a destitute shithole outside its western-funded areaslol
Holy shit, chink is getting owned in here!
>>59617404Too many people make it extremely obvious to why they use ai They aren't using it as a tool but as a crutch This romhack is ass and you can tell that they haphazardly put something togetherJust because the average pokemon fan has low standards doesn't mean I should as well
>>59618030The biggest joke is that the AIslop hack is somehow still more high quality than SV.
>>59617919>If you don't trust in your skills, save up to pay some fucker. How affordable is that, really?
>>59618069>How affordable is that, really?Expensive.
>>59617467The biggest issue is that the vast majority of AI is bad.Is there some quality content out there made by AI? Sure. But 95% of it is hot trash, and more importantly, of that remaining 5%, 99% of the prompters behind each piece are unable to replicate their own success on a second piece. So, when I got to consume media, I can either put literal hours of effort to shift through the entirety of AI slop to find the few hidden gems, or I can just write the whole medium off, and enjoy the wealth of content on the internet that lacks AI.It's to accessible for it's own good, and too good at hiding creators who can't replicate their good pieces. So the time investment to determine "This particular artist is not worth my time" is waaay longer than seeing a badly drawn anime face and moving onto the next piece.
>>59617404eh. i use slop regularly for porn, but slop is disposable by nature, you're not supposed to try and build something out of it. i'm not against its use but i've literally never seen any project using AI art that wasn't blatantly shit even without the AI part.for a very, very, VERY small subset of people (who i've never seen evidence of, but logically they must exist) it's a boon, but for the rest of people it's just a way for someone who doesn't have any passion to fart out some ugly slop they don't even bother to touch up because they just don't care.and i can't blame anyone for not giving these things the benefit of the doubt anymore.
>>59618093AI art isn't a skill but RNG.>>59618097>eh. i use slop regularly for pornThe only real use. Quick jerkoff, then throw it away like a mediocre gas station whore.
>>59617404I don't want to play romhacks with less effort put into them than the average gamefreak title
>>59617404>Try this out of curiosity >It is riddled with bugs I think there's a reason why ai has such a bad reputation.
>>59617404Anyone can make something that sucks, but I have yet to see anything that uses AI that is great. Even the supposed slam dunks that AI is perfect for, come out eh at best. No idea if this reflects on AI, the people who use it, both, or some other factor, but I avoid AI for the most part because it's a guarantee that it's gonna be mediocre at best. I don't want to waste my time on something like that. Every so often I'll give it another taste to see if things have improved, but thus far, no.It's less of a hard position for me, more just, it's like seeing Idea Factory on a game's box. It guarantees you are not gonna have a good time.
>>59618102Niche pornography. You have to even have a disclaimer for that. Niche pornography, for which there's probably under a hundred images of online. If it's good porn, don't bother generating it, you aren't getting shit like delicious skin texture, fluids, ect.
>>59618097ThisThe only thing AI really does, is let people with flights of fancy that wouldn't survive the two week barrier shit something out during that time.
>>59617919>If you don't have skill and can't hire someone with skill, just don't make something. This is gatekeeping plain and simple. Trad artists don't like that AI is democratizing art.
>>59618247it really can be a godsend if your niche is small enough. sometimes you want to see something that's only been drawn a handful of times at most, like X niche pokemon doing Y sex act, and AI can slop that up for you with a little elbow grease.
>>59617404Pokemon is shitty enough without having it be flooded by jeets.
While the art is obvious, can I say it's really funny people can't seem to use ai to program something without shutting the fuck up about it?Idk seems like it'd be really easy to just lie about it, not like you need to include "-claude" at the end of every line on github you have written for you. I've seen comments on social media pointing out how they "need" approval and sometimes it really does feel like that. They can't just do it, they need to feel special while doing it too.
>>59618301>This is gatekeeping plain and simpleGatekeeping is good In fact even ai itself needs to be gatekepted more due to how many fuckers running calling themselves artists/coders/musicians etc without even understanding the fundamentals and making a mess of things
>>59618301>Pro gatekeeping fuckers the second they are the ones being gatekeptPottery
>>59618357To be fair, designating the source of code is actually just industry best practices, both for other and yourself if you ever come back to something that has been coded and need to know what the fuck you're looking at.
