Literally every single generation since 2, you have people ranting about how the new designs suck and "don't look like Pokemon anymore", it was bad when it was just genwunners but now people just arbitrarily decide the cutoff of when they stopped looking like Pokemon. There's always been humanoid, plant, object, animal, folklore, etc. types of Pokemon. Genwunners were rightfully clowned on for this and yet now you have gentwoers, genthreers, genfourers, genfivers, etc.
