CP is a combination of stats and level, not the most effective way to gauge which pokemon is best in a scenario. Even large CP disparities are usually more than compensated by moves and type effectiveness.

Shadow pokemon for 20% more DPS, use the dialga dex link in the OP and play with the filters a bit. That will show you the best attackers by type/overall and then you can evaluate which shadows are worth keeping and teaching a move.

Shadow pokemon cost more stardust to level and it's very expensive, fwiw.

one of the main things to do in the game is work on your medals page (achievements) because you will need those for later game advancement. xxl and xxs are two of them. xxl are useful for the showcases that pop up on certain pokestops every tuesday since they tend to have better point value than regular mons. xxs are functionally useless outside of its medal.

As anon said, you do not purify pokemon unless it's something that can mega and purifying would bring it to a hundo
Purifying adds +2 to each stat, so for example a while ago I purified a shadow 13/13/13 Fennekin and she became a hundo and I mega evolved her (shadows can't mega but deal and take 20% more damage)

Basically you can compare your shadows against a tierlist, if it's useful then keep the shadow and use a charged TM during a rocket takeover event to remove frustration: this applies to things like shadow Zekrom, Reshiram, Cranidos, Litwick, Beldum, Rhyhorn, Deino
If it's useless and good for nothing (most of them), then don't bother doing anything you can transfer them. This applies to shit like Fomantis, all current leader pokemon (Cubone, Pancham, Grimer), everything that is normal type, Dewpider, Tentacool, Voltorb, Helioptile, Seel, Delibird, Wobbuffet, Zubat and so on
