Retard here, how good is AI at making an image and then making multiple small variations/modifications of what it already madeI know this is a very broad and general question but this place seems a lot more approachable and digestible (when it comes to information) than /g/ is.
>>59656271I only have experience with a basic local UI, but you can do something called inpainting, where you input whatever pic, let's say you created the first variant of your series from scratch, and then you can draw over any areas you want to change and set the percentage of what's already there it re-inputs into that area, while leaving the rest of the image complete unchanged, which is useful if you just want to change a facial expression, for example, and don't want the face to completely rearrange and redraw itself from scratch every time. You input your happy faced original pic, change your prompt, let's say you swap, "happy, smiling, eyes open" for "angry, blushing, eyes closed". You then inpaint over the whole face area, and set the prompt strength to a lower value, like 30%. The changes are more minimal, it understands the eyes and mouth are roughly where they already are but redraws them based on the new prompt, so her features don't move, and no other parts of the image change, but her eyes close and her expression becomes angry.It does struggle with making very small areas of inpainting cohesive with the rest of the picture, so it's better to use a high strength to get a detail to appear, and then inpaint a wider area with a low strength, more of the image will be caught in the blast but it will be largely based on what's already there so hopefully will just look the same but with the new details more cohesive with the rest of the area. It took a lot of inpainting to get it to look cohesive with such big changes to the arm position and clothes, but the faces were easy.

Then you can use a lower strength and you're relying less on the AI happening to give you the detail the way you want it.So, if you keep inpainting the face trying to get your new angry expression, but for some reason, maybe something in the model or loras, it keeps giving her a closed mouth or a tongue out or something, despite your pos/neg prompts, when you actually want her to be showing her gritted teeth, you can just draw a crude snarling mouth in paint to give it something to work with, then lower the strength and it will be more just like converting your drawing into the correct style rather than rolling it based entirely on language. It comes in very useful for some awkward parts the AI just can't get right. Misty's red straps simply would not line up properly without me drawing them in as a guide for it.
