What is your unironic favorite thing about Pokemon? Why are you a fan?
I fuckingLOVEthe interconnectivity. The grandfathered in data that's maintained and updated. You can take your starter in FRLG and move it to RSE, Colo/GoD, upwards to DPPt, HGSS, upwards to BW, BW2, XY, ORAS, SM, USUM, and onwards. The same fucking Pokemon. You can use it in modern games today! No other monster collectathon game does this shit.
>>59650645Memes and porn
the porn
>>59650645The gameplay, but my love for Pokemon is multifaceted.I love video games.
The Pokemon. There's some monster or animal design for every player. I grew up liking Digimon too, but it's almost entirely mecha armor guys and sci-fi after a while.
>>59650676>>59650689can we stop this forced meme where we all pretend to look at Pokémon porn? It's been 2 decades, it's not funny
>>59650708wait you guys were just pretending?
>>59650645I'm a giga autist about the idea of the entire biosphere being magical or someone sur-natural, that's why I also like Monster Hunter.Just the idea of the entire ecosystem being dragons, dinosaurs, sentient rock and walking plants is what hooked me on
>>59650708>PretendPokemon has more porn than anything else ever created.
>>59650718fun fact: rule34 paheal has so much pokemon porn that they had to change the pokemon tag to "porkyman" because if you looked up pokemon on google all the results were from rule34
>>59650645>What is your unironic favorite thing about Pokemon?either the collecting aspect the battle system or the creatures themselves>Why are you a fan?first it was the pokemon porn, then i found cobblemon
>>59650645NostalgiaPokémon Mystery DungeonEspecially Explorers of Sky, though I played all 4 international releases. I never played the Wiiware game yet. It's one of my eternally backlogged games.Memes.Colorful fantasy animal creatures. This is really the main one. I like colorful fantasy animal creatures. As an adult it's a pretty mid series, with even the Mystery Dungeon games being quite simple compared to more sophisticated roguelikes, but it grew on me. And Pokémon still has the best designs. Yokai-Watch, Digimon, Dragon QUest Monsters and even Palworld, which I think has very good designs, doesn't hold a candle to Pokémon designs. Palworld does have more consistent designs and less ugly shitmons than Pokémon, but the really good Pokémon still beat the best Pals.
>>59650654this is a good point. especially since theyre leaning so hard into the "pokemon as pets" angle lately, it is very unique/additive to the gameplay experience that i can transfer up my mons from 20+ years ago and still have them with me. i dont want just any swampert, i want MY swampert
im a sensitive faggot so ive always imagined the pokemon as having human level emotions even though the games treat them like sprites with some data that you click buttons on. i live in the universe in my head and i actually prefer most of the fancontent to anything the main games have produced, and i think if you treat them as creatures with real emotion theres a lot of interesting stories to tell and art to draw. the porn is also extremely hot and i feel like filth for liking it but theres a reason "dirty" is a good word in the bedroom
>>59651289oh hi sobble
The music, the cute mons, fox pokemon, rabbit pokemon. Cute world.
>>59650645I like collecting guys and using new guys to play and replay the games with. But I've grown out of the official games, now I only play rom hacks.
>>59650645i like the idea of having friends
>>59651289Watch the anime, sobble. They cry, throw tantrums, get angry, sad, anxious, fearful, happy, you name it. So yeah, just watch a few episodes, sobble.
>>59651584damn he does really seem like a sobble now ythat you mention it.
My obsession with her
>>59650645The human characters unironically
>>59650645Evolution. The feeling of raising a pokemon is delightful.
>>59650645Nice creature friends who live in a happy world :)
>>59650708>it's not funnyit's furry
>>59650720For real? I thought it's a remnant from the time when Nintendo would annihilate anything unpure using their IP.
>>59650645When I was a kid I really liked watching Animal Planet and Discovery and I liked fossils and trilobites and somehow pokemon managed to bring together these things I really liked. A world where you could explore a variety of biomes with creatures by your side
Can't really talk for my younger self, but at this point it's the artwork (and to a lesser extent, the music) that's keeping me as a fan. I just adore Pokemon's art/design style.>>59650676>>59650689This.>>59650708Who say's we're pretending, anon?
>>59652197>>59651785This too. As I get older I honestly find the human characters more endearing than the pokemon. (Helps that pokemon designs have gotten shitter and shietter each gen while the human designs stay the same if not improve)
>>59650645The datamining threads on /vp/
>>59652126This.
>>59650645The romhacks
The collecting aspect is the biggest draw for me. I try to maintain as much of a living Pokedex as I can in each game, plus all the stuff in Home I've been carrying around for over a decade.>>59650689Also this, Pokemon has had top tier character designs for a while now that make for some great porn.
Mainly just the nostalgia of playing blue at 8 years old and scouring the game to find some way past the snorlax and shit. Took a bit of work to get past. Mainly used my Shell Shocker as my first out, and tried to win all battles with just him. If I caught a new mon with a higher lvl I swapped, anything else didnt matter aside from HM mons. Fed my starter every vitiamin and rare candy, always hit stage 2 after the gary battle on the S.S. First time I beat the E4, took me a bunch of tries, and a lot of tactical revives. My mutha fukin Dewgong with Aurora Beam was the MVP of the battles. Used my master ball on the Dugtrio in Diglet Tunnel and murdered Articuno and Moltres(never even found Zapidos) So now playing pokemon is just a fun lil jaunt where I shit on my 8yo self with a wigglytuff sweeper or make eeveelution baton pass teams for casual online play shits and giggles. The games are still super comfy and fun, and the digital bonding with sprites is great, but it sucks that Im not a retarded 8yo anymore.
