Until such time as they fundamentally change the series creature artstyle, the shit around them isn't going to change its ethos either. Whole thing is based around these fucking creatures, it adapted its setting world and backstory to better fit their emergence (culling most of the direct real world shit from them, but keeping the real world inspirations, using it as a basis to populate the world in their style). Small wonder they keep the cartoony aesthetic so when a cyclizar runs across the grassland, it fits the setting, despite being an incredibly abnormal looking creature.
