It goes understated that the DS was just a GBA slightly advanced enough to have 4 layers for graphics and GF went all in on the 2D 3D blend. Considering GF is vidya fans who got into making vidya it's fairly impressive.Ever since that, we know the rest. The games HAD to be 3D and Black Rock owns 12% of Nintendo so anythting the devs wanna make is 3rd (or probably 4th) in line with global marketability and developing out of their skill set bring #1 and #2.
