What if every new Pokémon game had the same budget as a GTA game?
>>59659612Game Freak would blow the extra money on sake and child prostitutes then shit out the same slop they've been doing so since you idiots will buy it anyway
They wouldn't use quarter of it, because they don't need a billion dollars a game (and 13 years, kek) to make a brand more profitable than gta.
>>59659612The games would still be the same god-awful shovelware that they currently are, but the Game Freak staff's vacations that inspire each new region would be a lot more luxurious.
>>59659612Executive Salaries would go up and the games and their quality would remain the same.
>>59659612Do you want more than a decade for each new Pokemon generation provided it's the same quality (of graphics, animation, and mechanics) as the GTA games?
>>59659706We're already up to five year release gaps for mainline titles. Doubling it wouldn't be much different
>>59659712We had a mainline title last year gay.; Game Freak aren't bothered what labels manchildren place on their games, far as they're concerned if they spent time on it, it's mainline.
>>59659612Sex with Serena
>>59659738Unironically, how is ZA? PLA was like 90% of the way there to my ideal battle system. My only real complaints are that moves still had PP instead of factoring that into the ATB system. Like using hydropump ahould just make you way slower than water gun, instead of PP. Also, you couldnt just chuck a pokeball at the enemy on your turn in a battle despite how much effort went into that during free roam. Like, that little extra effort would have made it so much better. Like... when its my turn... just let me choose my ball and throw it myself instead of prompting a cutscene like I do for 90% of the pokemon I try to catch.
We'd have a leak of naked Serena running around Lumiose by now...
>>59659612would you also be okay with the dev cycle of GTA games? Pokemon fans cry and piss their pants when they're forced to go a year without a new game, how do you think they would handle waiting over a decade?
>>59659738ZA was a spinoff title wasn't it? Jjst like LA
>>59659754GTAO was also fun and constantly got new content updates fo free. If we're do equating, does playing online pokemans also get better with this? And since the pokemans is a console game it wont have mod menu fags.
>>59659762No, neither of them are (fucking L: A was just DP without half the retarded villain plot AND older DP protags and L:Z-A happens 5 years after the Ultimate Weapon got fired in XY). They adhere to the canon and timeline, but remember, Game Freak chose to start making these instead of remaking DP.. They even said themselves it was a new direction for the pokémon series.
>>59659791And it was a good direction.
>>59659627how much of their revenue is actually games?
>>59659751everything good about PLA got worse
>>59659798fuuuuuuuuuuuck.I mean, I knew that was probably the answer... but fuuuuuuuuuuuuck
>>59659795Everything after publisher's cut from every game they make directly. That's in part why they released the same game but slightly different all through the pre-HD handhelds. Easy money for them, easy money and hardware sales for Nintendo. But that's beside the point, my point was they didn't need the budget the size of even GTA1 to make Pokémon Red/Green, which in turn birthed the highest-grossing franchise on the planet. What good would pissing money away into the dev project do for their aims, except make young adults and teenagers online clap suddenly?
>>59659612It'd be less profitable, and people would still complain that it's not the same game they played as kids.
>>59659814sorry i was talking about TPC as a whole, what percent of the total profit is actually from the games?
>>59659856Nothing from the core games, because outside agreed-upon localisation and marketing efforts, TPC have no input into Pokémon. Game Freak own sole dev rights, Nintendo are happy to send them a budget and get a game that sells millions and shifts consoles in return and only the games TPC makes and sells themselves are counted in TPC profits. Which is why Ishihara's all-in with mobileshit. Earns far more profit for relatively less effort (and infinitely than making a new core title for Nintendo's 4k system) after getting the apps up and running.
>>59659861ok idk if youre screwing with me or not but i mean like the franchise period. cards, games, plushies, every official piece of pokemon anything down to a fucking 50¢ keychain of luvdisc.
>>59659612The mistake you made is assuming the money would go into the development rather than marketting and other useless shit
>>59659612can't believe Ash tapped that
>>59659612You want the games to be as shitty as they are now but also only exist to sell pikacards for the online component?
>>59659870Not him but 1/3. We can't know how much revenue merch TPC makes on top of royalties and business deals but whenever you see an estimate of their revenue on any site (usually it's inaccurate and more than what they list); always assume it's 1/31/3 Gamefreak, 1/3 Creatures, 1/3 NintendoWhen the anon talks about the games strictly, it's most likely 70 GF, 20 Nintendo, 10 Creatures (Ishihara's excuse is that they make the models). For strictly Pokemon Cards, It's mostly 70-80 Creatures, 10-20 TPC (distribution), and some crumbs to Nintendo because Nintendo owns a financial minority stake in Creatures (10%). People don't realize this but Ishihara is probably one of Japan's most richest people behind the founder of Uniqlo. I don't think Satoshi Tajiri, owning GF himself, has as much as Ishihara despite owning GF and being a social recluse (not because he has autism but he's rich and lives a low profile in Japan's most richest neighborhoods)
>>59659792LA was a good direction, but ZA dragged it out back and gunned it down.
>>59659929>When the anon talks about the games strictly, it's most likely 70 GF, 20 Nintendo, 10 Creatures (Ishihara's excuse is that they make the models).Creatures don't get any profit from Game Freak's games child. They get paid for their contracted work making the models for the game at the time and other minor contract work. The games are an agreement between Nintendo and Game Freak, that's unironically why TPC "make the models" these days, to have SOME revenue off every new game and pass some business to a rights holder. Whatever TPC shits out, THAT'S split 3 ways. But outside Gen 1 and Tajiri begging money off Ishihara to finish his project in return for a developer credit, Creatures never had any direct financial input into production of Pokémon games (Nintendo started fully-funding the series, after the outrageous success of RG/B). So they don't get any financial cut of Pocket Monsters Series games. Because it's now set up and operating to a framework that precludes A) Game Freak running out of money in the dev budget and B) having dev cycles extend past the point of lunacy. This is the problem with kids online - they DON'T bother about details, that are quite critical, then spread misinformation, due to corporations in their own country running the show. Rule of thumb - everything not made by Game Freak gets counted as TPC profits (as it's the company managing the Pokémon brand producing it), anything made by Game Freak is Game Freak's profits. It's not fucking hard.
>>59659929And the split is actually 30% Nintendo (they own master trademarks on the whole thing, so don't take as big a cut of the profits. They also earn console sales off the back of every released game and publisher's cut for them too) with Game Freak owning the larger share of what's left due to creating it (about 36-40% of the whole). We are 30 years into Pokémon's existence and we still have people who ignore or dismiss Game Freak entirely as the keystone of the thing. Shit doesn't go without Game Freak continuing to produce new games for children, shit can't do what clashes, interferes or diminishes the games (Ohmori telling the anime writers a few years back they couldn't portray Laqua as an archipelago as that would diminish the new region for the new game).
>>59659929>People don't realize this but Ishihara is probably one of Japan's most richest people behind the founder of UniqloMy buddy who has been a judge/staffer in several worlds editions has told us how he's often surrounded by multiple bodyguards. It's wild. Not even the likes of Masuda receives that treatment, he's massive
>>59659612we already know what monster tamer games with good budget can look likedokev and roco kingdom look promising
>>59660569it's not $2billion budget or 13 years of development, but this is what games look like when they are given more than $15million and 2-3 yearspokefags aren't even willing to wait an extra year as was already proven with za
Why is she stood in such a tiny pool?
>>59660562>Not even the likes of Masuda receives that treatment, he's massiveCase in point, at the last Worlds, Masuda was apparently just hanging out as a normal attendee, and the few people who even recognized him just asked for quick photos, but most just left him alone or didn't realize it was him. By contrast, Ishihara only ever appeared at the closing ceremony and that was on the main stage itself, inside an NBA arena after everyone in attendance had gone through security and he was still far away from them.
>>59660578Maybe it's a hot tub?
>>59660569Dokev is vaporware though...
>>59662435we are getting updates starting next yearcrimson desert has finished development and they already went back to work on dokev
