Let me explainNo kid has the gateway to get into Pokemon anymore. Everything is not available on stores anymore in a way kids convince mom at the store to get a pack because the scalpers bought them all to flip. Kids cannot get any online because even if they could use it they cannot pay the prices the millennials pay. There is no gateway anymore for kids to get into Pokemon cards and that is going to lead to the effect of an entire generation missing out on being interested in this IP. The anime does not work since kids don't watch animation anymore, so the only gateway is games, and that interest has been replaced with other games since it is way past its handheld era prime. Only Pokemon Go can be something they can approach and even that is something more geared towards millennials who are able to walk places. It obviously will not go away ever, but it is going to start a long decline in interest as generations do not get into it and cannot get into it before it eventually becomes more niche and only popular with an aging generation.
Get out the basement once in a while. Just because you don't see kids playing it doesn't mean kids aren't playing it. Fuck, after 2000 and specifically returning home form an IRL Mew giveaway event, I did not see ONE child play a pokémon game for fully 13 years. But as every dipshit faggot adult here tells me, they started as a kid some 5/10/15/20 years ago, so....
>>59661900Kids do have much more options nowadays.
>>59661884Pokemon doesn't need overseas kids anyway, it just need to retain JP kids, which it's successfully doing after the GO + Alola rebound. So long as the core audience in JP is still hooked, Pokemon as a whole doesn't give a fuck what's happening overseas, in fact they LOVED that scalpers were going insane for TCG because it meant they were printing even more money than usual, enough to generate even more card in order to generate even more money, creating an indefinite feedback loop for as long as the scalper hype train persisted.

>>59661884we need the bubble to pop already
>>59661884I don't get why Pokemon TCG specifically has such a big scalper problem. I'd think that if you want to buy new packs just to sell the cards, MtG would be the better choice, due to having a larger playerbase (of the "big 3" of TCGs; MtG, Pokemon, and Yugioh, MtG is the biggest) and having a more competitively oriented playerbase, both in having more tournament players and even casual players more willing to spend money on powerful cards, leading to prices of even the most common versions of some rare but highly competitive cards being very high (IIRC for as long as it was part of the standard rotation, the cheapest and by far the most common version of Sheoldred the Apocalypse still sold for about 5 times the price of the booster pack, for one example). With Pokemon a significant amount of the playerbase is kids with little in the way of disposable income, and from my understanding the valuable cards are mostly extra-rare alt-art versions of already rare cards, making it less likely for you to pull one.

>>59662271it's a combination of Covid changing how people spend and Logan Paul's fuckery that made Pokemon cards a huge investor bait as it is now. doesn't help that TPCi is veey implicit about this despite the "promises" of ramping up production. they wanted the cards to be hard to obtain to maintain FOMO .
>>59662153Geg I can’t unsee it
>>59661884I think it’s just ways profit for pokemon and doesn’t affect kids introduction to it at allLiterally never met a single kid since 90s pokemania who actually played the TCG. It was 100% collector culture. From a profit standpoint it’s extremely lucrative for Pokemon, just print cards and retards literally fight tooth and nail and pay top dollar for soemthing with 99% profit margins The games and the overwhelming merch and media of the biggest IP of all time provide infinite entry points into the franchiseThe scalpers are faggots but you are a fucking retard
>>59662271TPC goes out of their way to help the scalpers by underprinting cards to create forced scarcity that they can exploit. In contrast, Konami overprints Yu-Gi-Oh cards like crazy so they're virtually worthless for scalpers. Imagine being so greedy and scummy, you make KONAMI look like the good guys in comparison.
