>>59656901>>59670498All right, here's what I and friends noted down during the XY cast panel at NYCC, first from the discussion:>Mike had a friend who worked on Pokémon and asked if he wanted to audition, and he said yes, having grown up with the show (he self-identified as a genwunner who prayed at night that Pokémon would become real). Played a few COTDs in late BW and then got cast as Clemont, which he felt was a massive honor.>Aylson met Tom Wayland while recording for an audiobook series (he was another one of the actors on the project), he liked her work, offered her an audition because he needed to cast a role that week, and so she made her debut voicing Jasmine in DP180.>Haven's Serena audition was the opening scene of XY001, with Fletchling waking her up.>Sarah's Ash audition was "very Ash Ketchum" of her, to use her words: she forgot about it until the day of because of forgetting to flip her weekly desk calendar, hastily prepared with a friend the day of (who didn't think she'd get the job), and then went downtown for it. Contrary to rumors, she wasn't late, just unprepared. Because she was trained in regular acting, not voice acting, the TAJ guys had to teach her to dub at her audition. She was shocked that she got the job and wasn't fully convinced she had it until her first episode aired, and even then, was always worried about getting replaced because of low self-confidence.

She's determined and wants to win, but she's not a backbiter or a bitch with an "I will tear you down to build myself up" mentality. Haven said she never bought into being hyper-competitive in their industry, and so resonates with Serena a lot and repeating Serena's supportive words over and over again impacted her.>Sarah's favorite thing about Ash is his "tenacity" and how good he is to his friends. She then basically repeated what Haven said about not trying to tear down fellow voice actors or backbiting.

Lots of banter, finishing each other's thoughts, talking about Ash and Serena, etc. They're obviously best friends. Sarah jokingly said "I don't like anybody else" when Haven mentioned the love between the four of them and asked Sarah if that was common in the past with other companions, though to be fair, you don't really see Sarah doing cons with the TPCi VAs for Brock, May, Dawn, Iris, Cilan, or the Alola gang. She did one with Haven earlier this year and seems to have built a friendship with Liko's VA, but I think she mainly goes solo to cons. Also, while Sarah asked Haven to hold her hand (as a joke) before Sarah told her traumatic audition story, they kept holding hands for much of the panel and the camera for the monitor zoomed in on them at times for laughs. It's well known that both Sarah and Haven are big Amourshippers and so they clearly love to play it up in person. The other three also repeatedly claimed Mike has the funniest Instagram ever. Finally, the panel ended with Haven gifting Sarah the "Kalos Region Paired Pikachu Poké Plush" from the Pokémon Center; Sarah joked just before the gift reveal about whether Haven was proposing, and they both concluded, "Our love is immortalized."
