That's Natural Energy; Infinity energy is basically like that of the card games: Pokemon Power source. Unless you're thinking of Pokemon Life energy from the Aura trio.

>>
>>59672251
Infinity energy is just pokemon life energy under a more marketable terminology iirc.
Not like it matters though. TPC might give us pokecology books but they will never ever give us a rundown on how their magic system works, so we'll always be in the dark squabbling over ambiguous dialogue that they probably didn't think through to begin with and will probably get unintentionally retconned in a couple gens anyway.

Won't stop me from autistically trying to flesh out my setting's magic system though. It's rough trying to fit in why Eternatus, Necrozma, and Terapagos(or the corpse it's eating) have gimmick energies while other legendaries don't. And what the fuck is the commonality between alpha, noble, and totem pokemon?
>>
>>59672273
Just give them a core with legendaries having thousands of years cores, that would be a way to make sense of poachers in the setting and why TR trafficked Pokémon or why Ghetsis went around stealing
>>
>>59671648
It'll kinda be a plot point later in my fic.
Not much because money is a tool to him and he knows how to cut back a lot and work harder if needed.

>>
>>59672282
I've got the exp & rare candies fulfilling the role of monster cores, but I'm treating them like something any pokemon can form since their in-game drop sources aren't limited to alphas or totem pokemon.
Right now I'm just treating Alphas like a life force abnormality with certain things influencing the chance it happens. There doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to it otherwise, even with ZA confirming Xerneas can cause it.

It's not just a korean thing, all asians love the monster core trope. His willingness to harvest the monster cores of living fully sapient beings makes him possibly Chinese, and since he's actually gotten laid there's 0 chance he's japanese.
Go on Ian. Dual cultivate with your pokemon. Show them how deep the bond between human and pokemon can go. Especially the dinosaur.

It doesn't make sense. Should have been split up into regeneration over time (water) like leftovers, but only for 5 turns, healing 20 HP each turn and instant regeneration (potion), with water supporting the pokemon's natural regeneration abilities and potions being more sophisticated medicine.

It's probably a bit hard to enjoy writing or do it well enough while sick unless you're writing true slop with no regard for grammar or prose. Too much brain effort involved when you'd rather just waste away on passive entertainment for distraction.

I read the fic from this post. Felt like a very female-brained romance. Fixation on dominance, I-can-fix-him, female love interest is batshit insane, main man can murder a bunch of pokemon but he's so sensitive and good with kids, etc. A lot of the descriptions of events or the environment were very amateurish. The psychic bond stuff felt very contrived and the explanation for it came too late.
Still mostly liked it in spite of these things. Even if the characters are pretty tropey, I can't imagine someone who's vanilla enough to choose Gardevoir as their waifu would care that much. They still have some fun conversations. Treating Gardevoir as aggressive and almost predatory creatures was also a neat take.
I dunno if its really worth reading unless you're into Gardevoir, especially because it's not finished yet, but it wasn't a waste of a sick day for me.

Because it's a game derived from a 1996 Gameboy game where logic wasn't a priority? That's the best TQ you could come up with this time?

That is really cool. Sort of reminds me of what Hyphen's author said about crossovers, that the intelligent Hoenn Gardevoir-line would be Psychic-type only.
Psychics have just as high a potential to be dangerous to humans, if not more so, than Dark-types.

That's because Pokémon focuses more on science. Literally one of the first NPCs you talk to in the games tells you how incredible technology is.

That's more a game-specific thing to not bore the player with realistic rules, but at some point it breaks the immersion when you as the protag manage to be better than everyone else because you've been granted god-like privileges no one else has. Also to be included in the story (albiet in the custody of different trainers) is the vaporeon I used that playthrough, which face-tanked most of the game, and the gardevoir, who crit so often I thought I'd missed a special effect or passive. I didn't. She was just built different.

Yeah, ditto, I'm feeling the same way. I was the one who asked for recommendations. It's very amateurish - reads like someone's first foray into longform storytelling. Things happen way too quickly, a character goes from pure hatred and revulsion to doe eyes in the space of like 6 chapters. It's not bad enough to get me to turn away, and there was clearly a fair amount of thought put into it.
It's alright, but didn't scratch the itch. Will check out Homunculus next.

Race, separate from the concept of ethnicity, is sort of like gender. It's and external performative, there's no such thing as internal race, it's informed by the culture that's around you.
It's a social construct, just like how you can become a woman by performing as one, so can you switch races.

For anyone employed, there was some more Coldbringer/fanfiction drama.

For context
>coldbringer ousted by trannies on r/litrpg and the discord
>exploit 'changing his status to inactive' so they can steal his admin powers
>they can't kick him because he's the discord admin so they make a new one
>had a collab Cradle fic with a feminist negro that loves lesbians
>got temp banned from his own fic thread on spacebattles for ranting about hating men while drunk
>hasn't been active in months (fic was paused because of it)
>coldbringer posts next two chapters and skips the 2nd part of the cliffhanger
>suddenly coldbringer banned at 3am
>"I'm not okay guys"
>suddenly on discord complaining that its actually coldbringer who slowed the story down
>apparently him being gone for months was 'actually because of the emotional abuse' or something gay and made up
>complaining about being racist again him and his black character or something

I tried to copypaste points of interest I thought were fun. The part where he acts disgusted by a "potential relationship with a pair of twins" is especially hilarious given his love for lesbian relationships.
Enjoy the schizoramblings

coldbringer is just a chud who was anti-posting woke retards. Even the pedo comment is about "don't waste time complaining about epstein when there are real issues you can address instead of pretending to care by harping on something you'll never actually address because both sides are in on it."

the black guy is just a foriegner who's identity is basically "i hate america/i hate white people/i'm a male feminist/every white person secretly hates me because I'm black and not because they can tell there's something wrong with me that makes me potentially dangerous" kind of guy.

>as a lesbian myself
He's not a lesbian anon, or trans, or whatever. I'm pointing out the laughable hypocrisy of their general beliefs and how they always seem to align with 'i'm a sexual deviant'. Their support of women has nothing to do with actually supporting them.

Also some of the posts about "not being able to write anyone elses ideas except his own" come off so laughably autistic, it adds mud to the whole thing.

>Pokemon who refer to their trainer as master
Wasn't me. However, I'm not a huge fan of pokemon-human communication without A: a decently fleshed-out contrivance that enables it, and B: numerous scenes of failed communication prior to obtaining said contrivance.

However, psychic types get an automatic pass from me.
With that being said, referring to oneself as "this one" was a dealbreaker. Reminds me of the jellyfish in Mass Effect.

I think this screenshot is more illuminating then. A poster brings up Daryl Davis, a black musician who convinced members of the KKK to give up on racism and become better people.
This is what TheEpicLotfi had to say about him:
>Lol, fuck him. As a black man, fuck him. Putting yourself at extreme risk against a group of people that want nothing more than to kill you in the interest of 'saving their souls' or whatever the fuck, is such an unsustainable and fairy-tale like approach to a real issue. I will not ever interact amicably with a Neo-Nazi. In fact, anyone that espouses beliefs meant to put me down or worse yet harm me do not deserve the courtesy of a conversation. It's either violence in self defense, or ignoring them entirely.

All of this is ignoring the fact that yes, Daryl Davis did save their souls. I can respect a man who doesn't want to put himself in danger, not stepping up is normal. But I can't respect a coward like Lotfi, who disparages others for their virtue. Daryl Davis is a hero who went out of his way to save souls, just because you're not interested in saving souls doesn't mean you should cast hate on him.

>I just meant that somehow the drama seems to revolve around somebody's fixation on them
It doesn't.
The coauthor lofti accused snowblind of adding in a pair of twin characters who were attracted to the main character because he wanted him to get with them instead of the canon love interest and he acted disgusted by it as if it was a bad choice to have them. This is contrasted by his own love of female/lesbian relationships that he shoves into his story and/or positively responds to. By his own claim, one of his longest fics that he wrote was a lesbian relationship fic.
>why does that matter
His real issue is that the relationship is heterosexual and not that it was some sort of implied self insert or whatever other issue the characters were deemed 'bad'. Add on his anti man rants he had on spacebattles when he was drunk, the feminist jjk fiction, and general trans/gay support in fiction and out of fiction and you have a person who is a 'lesbian loving hypocrite' or a 'male feminist'.

It's similar to how there are lots of male->female 'lesbians' who are really just perverts.

What really gets me is his MC is overwhelming stonger then the people she went up against. She defeated them all in a fight, which kind of defeats his entire ethos of not putting yourself at risk for people who hate you.
She already proved that the people she defeated weren't a threat to her, her initial violence is obviously justifable in self defense but everything after that was just due to her taking the easy road in oppressing people instead of choosing to be the better woman.
Although I won't lie, it was the faster method, repeatedly kicking the shit out of people. But I feel like that kind of goes against the message of a very Buddhist series like JJK. Then again Buddhists are known for their fare share of violence as well.

Some of the lines feel more traditionally spoken rather than similar but different english versions, but it's entirely readable. It makes machine translations look retarded. I remember the author confessed he censored some things randomly despite not needing to, the prime example being some girls chest being large and moving when she breathed, so I figured "what else is missing?".
I'm going to take my time, go chapter by chapter, scene by scene. I'll treat it as a reread, and add AI gen'd pictures and shit.

AI translated from Chinese (chapter 1)
>The so-called Way of Demons means forsaking virtue, killing and burning. Rejected by heaven and earth, with the entire world as an enemy, yet still roaming freely and unchecked.
>“If the Spring-Autumn Cicada I’ve just forged proves effective, I’ll become a demonic being again in my next life!” Thinking this, Fang Yuan couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
>“Old Demon, what are you laughing at?”

Old human translation
>To be a demon is to be merciless and cruel, a murderer and destroyer. There is no place in heaven or earth for such a thing – turning into an enemy to the world, still having to face the consequences.
>“If the Spring Autumn Cicada that I have just cultivated is effective, I shall still be a demon in my next life!” With this thought, Fang Yuan couldn’t help but let out a big laugh.
>“Wicked demon, what are you laughing about?”

There are probably phrases that would be better reformatted like "I’ve just forged" should be "refined" not "forged" and not "cultivated"
>>
>>59676386
That entire fic when it was first released felt like a fever dream written by a psycho that went just a bit further than he should have. Like you knew he was crazy before sorta deal, but then he broke and its so much worse. The fiction read like snuff fic about killing men for being men.

Well to be fare Jujutsu society, well mainly the Zenin, are assholes to women in particular. It just feels like the titular cycles of curses, breaking free of hatred, is more important.
It's ironic, sort of like how Yud wrote HPMoR when Yud of Harry Potter's two messages it's very upfront about is to not let your fear of death control your life. When Yud himself is kind of famous for doing that.

>>
>>59676399
>It just feels like the titular cycles of curses, breaking free of hatred, is more important.
I mean, even the author felt it was important enough to have a major character (and specifically a woman) go murder the fuck out of ALL of them for this behavior. He never really holds back in highlighting how you're supposed to hate the absolute shit out of the reverence of the status quo, and this is told through both the curses' fixation on the past and Sukuna, and all the shit with the Zenin.
>>
>>59676409
That's different, they Mai was killed by her and Maki's father. The only reason Maki survived was that Mai used a binding vow to turn her corpse into a sword, and then when Maki left they tried to kill her again.
Not to mention Naoya got pretty close to killing her in the manga, they were all legit threats to her and she took down the ones that attacked her. Which is fair, I don't take issue with that.
It's sort of everything that comes after.
>>
>>59676411 (me)
Also I forgot to mention that the author mentioned in an interview Mai's first love was either her sister Maki our their cousin Megumi.
It doesn't have anything to do with anything but those Zenin sure do love their incest. Even the gay ones love it.
>>
What do you guys think of authors using canon characters but with changes to their personalities?
>>
>>59676554
For a protagonist or companions - in a series like Pokemon, nothing but disgust.
I'm okay with other characters who could, because of their occupations, conceivably interact with OCs - for eg the professors, or Misty and Brock as gym leaders.

But generally, make your own characters, please. Especially if you plan on using a canon character and changing their personality - that's like tracing an artwork then scribbling dicks all over it.

Good bait, got me to reply. But literally the entire point of fanfiction is to take elements of an existing work you are a fan of and use them in your fiction. You're complaining about people using paint for watercolor painting.
>>
>>59677063
This is good for when you want to scratch the itch of two characters interacting but don't want to go through the trouble of actually planning it, writing it, checking for quality. Especially good for crossover fanfic because the AI will remember the details of both series way easier than you would.
>cons:
>most decent writing AIs are censored so you have to keep it PG-13

Dissidia-anon here. I've already considered this.
>Garland - Hoopa
>The Emperor - None, considers them beneath him, but forcibly usurps Teams to do his bidding
>Cloud of Darkness - Giratina
>Golbez - Umbreon
>Exdeath - 'M (00)
>Kefka - Blacephalon
>Sephiroth - Deoxys
>Ultimecia - Iron Valiant
>Kuja - Ditto that even Kuja doesn't know is a Mew
>Jecht - Primarina Tidus' is Incineroar if the symbolism isn't clear
>Kam'lanaut - Galarian Moltres
>Gabranth - Kingambit
>Vayne - Aegislash
>Caius - Absol
>Zenos - Chien-Pao

Funny, I considered the same thing since unbound has a similar body shape to Chaos
>>The Emperor - None, considers them beneath him, but forcibly usurps Teams to do his bidding
I actually thought his Hell form would have captured Giratina and taken its power Not sure about his light form since Arceus seems too grand. Maybe Solgaleo, Necrozma, or Jirachi because of looks
>>Cloud of Darkness - Giratina
I'd go with Darkrai
>>Golbez - Umbreon
I ses what you did there
>>Exdeath - 'M (00)
Interesting, I see the vision. I'd probably go with Yvetal for irony
>>Kefka - Blacephalon
10/10
>>Sephiroth - Deoxys
>>Ultimecia - Iron Valiant
Makes a whole lot of sense. I would go with something different but I can't think of anything better
>>Kuja - Ditto
Neat. I'd go with Meloetta
>>Jecht - Primarina
Of all the water starters I am baffled, but I'd hear you out.
>>Kam'lanaut - Galarian Moltres
FF11 mentioned. Actually I'd use Iron Valiant here. I beat Kam but I never reached his brother.
>>Gabranth - Kingambit
Never finished 12 so I don't know how it ends but for some reason Bisharp makes more sense from what I got from him.
>>Vayne - Aegislash
This feels right but I don't know why.
>>Caius - Absol
Brilliant.
>>Zenos - Chien-Pao
Perfect
>>Ardyn - Celebi
No idea.

>no Barthandelus
Wait did Caius get into dissidia?

I'm going to write a cooking scene with ingredients only found in the Pokémon world, it's going to be very detailed and the characters are going to gush how good it is while eating it

My Ultimecia thinking was her unconsciously choosing a Knight for herself
>Of all the water starters I am baffled, but I'd hear you out.
I think it would remind him of his son, pretty much as simple as that. Tidus would be offended, not realizing he did the same damn thing with his Incineroar
>>
>>59677746
Aaaaaw, that Jecht one is pretty good then. I wouldn't have gone with that myself but that's what makes other perspectives neat. And yeah I picked up on the knight thing and the future thing but despite being futuristic Ulti has a very different aesthetic. I feel like Adel fits more with Iron Valiant since she's from Esthar, but Adel would probably have a much more brutal mon. Actually since she is trying to reach the psst maybe a past paradox mon would suit Ultimecia more. That Misdreavius variant would actually be perfect for her.

What's the best aspect you think of every threadfic?
In IMO it's the writing and sheer character. PoPT the balancing in story and narrative beats. SELLOUTS for just how 'layered' it is with the amount of ways to read it.
>>

531 KB PNG
>>59677745
I was thinking on writing about characters talking about Pokémon movies too
>>
>>59677808
These are also the worst aspects of each fic. IMO is constantly tripping over itself with flowery descriptions that break reading flow and there's way too many characters, so much so that many are lacking focus. PoPT is so hardline focused on doing plot things that it rarely takes the time to sell the character relationships that the plot relies on. SELLOUTS is incredibly multilayered but it's also lies all the way down, making for a frustrating reading experience that suffers from the serial fanfiction format more than any other fic I've read.
>>
>>59677830
Sellouts is kind of like Chainsawman. One lies all the time the other has dishonest paneling.

>>59677830
Ooh ooh do my fic next.

>>59677881

But to answer your question, Spice and Fox's best aspect is also it's most controversial. I.E the rugpull and defrauding of readers.

>>

>>

>>

Also forgot to mention, but Gym Leader Fraud is also gay, but in a person-of-gender sort of way and not a homosexual way. William from Spice and Fox is also bisexual. The Champions guy is also gay/biseuxal.
So really calling yourself out as the gay one doesn't narrow it down.

Oh, do you mean Within our Nation? Yeah Puce is pretty cute in a pathetic sort of way, Neroli is nice as well. Both of them are attractive in the sort of way where I want them to have a better life, spoil them, and also put a collar around their neck.
Although Hoshi is a bit straight.
Just kidding Within our Nation is the straightest fic I knew who you were from your first reply IMOfag.
>>
Explain why Iron Defense doesn't turn pokemon in your fic into a part Steel Type. And don't use the obvious joke.
>>
>>59678030
because their body structure wouldn't allow them to move if it suddenly turned into Steel
>>
>>59677892
This is correct, but humans are psychic type, not normal type. They are notably not immune to ghosts, often are scared of bugs (over the level of danger a bug would normally pose) and have been consistently observed using psychic powers in the setting. There are also a lot of psychic type pokémon that have a humanoid body shape and most of the more intelligent pokémon are psychic types. All of this aligns with a mono-psychic typing.

I fucking hate it when people say humans are normal type. It's so retarded.
>>
>>59677962
It's weird how much SELLOUTS gets mentioned compared to how popular it actually is. It's one of the least popular fics in the collection.
>>
>>59678089
It's barely in the 10 least popular, it's 9nth least popular. Although it's the 6th least kudo-ed.
>>
>>59678073
Humans at their base are normal type. There are fighting type humans that can spar with Machamps and jump off cliffs, Psychic humans that can levitate pokeballs with their minds, and ghost humans that can commune with the dead
>>
>>59678089
I think its a good omen for my forthcoming Stella Goetia self-insert slopfic.
>>
>>59678123 (me)
Slash-fic I mean. I don't want to be Stella because then I'd have to be attracted to men and that's gay.

>Stella
Isn't that the abused bird wife from Hasbin Hotel?
>>
>>59678134
Yes, I can fix her.
>>
>>59678147
Okay? But she's a woman, that means you'd be attracted to women if you self-inserted as her love interest.
>>
I keep forgetting she's Latina, she just doesn't feel like it whatsoever
>>
>>59678093
That is entirely inconsistent with how humans are presented. You don't need to be of a type to use moves of that type. Humans can use fighting type moves, or ghost stuff or whatever, but there's no reason why they would be normal type baseline except for some preconceived notion that humans are "normal" in the pokémon world and therefore must be normal type. All those feats are explainable via regular means available to any pokémon, i.e. IVs, natures, EVs and move training (obviously these are arbitrary values ingame to explain natural phenomena, but they map onto genetics, personality and experience respectively). One of the many fandom headcanons I will die mad about, because nobody thinks about it for more than a second. Consistent behaviour with TPC, but that's no excuse.
>>
>>59678396
>but there's no reason why they would be normal type baseline except for some preconceived notion that humans are "normal" in the pokémon world and therefore must be normal type
Sure there is. The typical human can at most slap or throw weak punches or do dumb shit. Some might learn proper Fighting technique or some Psychic stuff, if they have a knack for it, but that doesn't change their base type,. That's just what move-analogues they know. Show me a human in the setting who is breathing fire or ice or electricity or metal shards or etc. without external materials or technology.
>>
>>59678439
A baseline, untrained Snivy (level 5) can only use tackle and leer. Guess that makes them a normal type too? Retard
>>
Pokehumans don't have a type. There is zero confirmation they have a type anywhere in the two big anime and gamefreak canons. At most they have a slight inclination towards wielding the handful of types already mentioned, but nothing anywhere says they are those types.
Liberals can cry about this all they want. Facts don't care about your feelings. You will never be a fairy type.
>>
Okay but what are Hidden Powers? Recessive genes from somewhere down the Pokemon's ancestry? Do Humans have Hidden Power too?

>>
>>59678508
There's no canon answer. IVs aren't hereditary depending on type, and since Gamefreak not only retconned the move to always change type for maximal super effectiveness in LA but also removed it entirely in the very next gen, it's essentially nothing and everything now.
