thoughts on regional forms?

I’m in a bit of a dilemma: on one hand, I like that they’re revisiting old Pokémon and using the concepts of evolutionary divergence and species adaptation to create new forms.

But on the other hand, I’d rather see entirely new species, rather than just another Kantomon in a different color for the twentieth time.

I think they're pretty much ways to put older Pokemon in a newer art style, as though they were designed for that region instead. I think it was a little too safe that the Alolan forms were all kantomons but I liked them. They were Pokemon I already liked (Raichu), or Pokemon I didn't like before but liked them in Alolan forms (Ninetales). Unfortunately, I was not able to experience more regional variants since I stopped playing the games once dexit happened, so USUM is the last game I played (and still play to this day)

god, i realized why i should care about what version exclusives I get because of this thing. I got moon because Lunala looked the coolest to me (and Dawn Wings Necrozma even cooler), but I regretted it when I realized Alolan Ninetales was an exclusive to Sun and it wasn't like I would get to use Lunala in the Battle Tree. I made sure to get Ultra Sun specifically when the Ultra games came out later on

I think they're the best Idea along with Ultrabeats that GF has come up with.

But similar to the first poster, most of them are Kanto which is disappointing.

for the most part, they were a mistake and an excuse for gamefreak to be lazy. why bother coming up with new pokemon designs when fans will lap up [mon from an older gen] with a new colour scheme and sometimes a fatter head/longer body part/facial hair?

It's such a lazy excuse when they should be making entirely new Pokémon instead of just recoloring and changing the type of an existing one

It introduced the coolest starter trio, so they’re okay in my book

Gave us one of my fav designs of all so can't complain

They're kinda neat sometimes but being unable to evolve Pokemon into regional variants outside of their debut game such as the Hisuian starters & Alolan Raichu really sucks, and some feel like one and done gimmicks for their regions such as the Sirfetched and Galarian Weezing.

Give ice scales

>design two pokemon with abilities designed to be used together
>lock them into being version exclusives in like every game they appear in
GF is cruel
