Yeah, being unable to transfer from Gen 2 sucks, but not only are there modern tools that can bridge the gap so it's a non-issue now and for the rest of time, but the dexcut was never about *transfers* it was about the pokemon themselves. Transfers were just one thing the dexcut had a major impact on. RS has all 386 pokemon that existed at the time programmed into the game's data, and using the other games released later in the generation (literally a span of only 3~4 yrs) as they expanded the range of compatibility would allow you to obtain all of them legitimately through trades. Hell, you could have picked up a copy of just RS and a GameShark and could have had access to everything right out of the gate. The issue with LGPE and everything after, is that the pokemon themselves aren't programmed in at all. There's no game coming out later to trade them in from. You get a small selection of them in the base game's pokedex, maybe DLC about a year later that adds another small handful, and that's it. The games do not have every pokemon that exists at the time of release programmed in anymore and Game Freak has no excuse for it. They got caught in a lie about it in 2019 and got flamed on Twitter because they already have all of the assets for the Pokémon created because they'd just been recycling all the models and animations from XY, which is totally fine if they actually owned up to it but they tried passing off blatantly recycled assets as brand new and blamed these "new" high fidelity assets for the removal of the national pokedex. Here we are 7 years removed from the dex cut, over double the amount of time it took for Gen 3 to have its natdex completable, and we're still suffering with planned obsolecense dexcut slop made to be consumed and forgotten in a single year by people who don't care for the core gameplay and just want to collect cute creatures. There's no comparison here.
