gmax aegislash is so strong it's annoying. had to use a magical seed to set up and then sweep after it was dead
who's the genius who thought giving an ability that doubles damage at +50% HP and doubles speed at -50%, a 30 base HP buff (90 base HP now) to the 600 BST bulky 'mon (630 BST after gmax), and a unique gmax 130 BP STAB move that faints any 'mon under 15% HP after using it
the only positive thing about this is that it only has 3 PP and it means it can't use any steel type moves after using it 3 times

For context you get into another wing of the Luna Family compound and its full of dead bodies and blood, then you see this masked guy run around and murder some Luna Family as they try to run. Then he tries fight you without explanation

I wont go into details so as to avoid spoilers, but I anticipated one of the events at the end of the luna familiy building but the other one actually made me so "oh damn" when I realised what was up

It honestly lost some points for me, the story going from "kanto is weird and haunted but there are still some nice places and people and the gyms are still running, if a bit messed up" to "the league is corrupt and evil! and they killed your mother!" made it more like a run of a mill fan game and made things less unique. Plus it starts to drop the random spooky stuff like ghosts talking to you and disappearing or the sailor telling you not to give up and jumping into the water in favour of gore and edge. And nothing in saffron even changes, all the dialogue stays the same.

Computer - Rusty Drive: in the data center south of lavender and east of pumpkin patch
Abyss - White Feather: After beating the puppet masters the first time. This is in the maze to the east of Fuschia
Unknown - Grey orb: You need to complete the dex to get the hint for this but if you dont plan on completing the dex, it's located in Fuji Catacombs. It's in one of the grave stones in the 3rd Agatha Puzzle. You also need to obtain the 4 hexes from the shamans in the region and talks to gold’s mom, and maybe also finding the missing kid in Fuchsia. Leave this Island until last because it is essentially the point of no return for the game.

Time to get on Ghost Grey's post game, starting with Bruno telling us whats up

Here's a quick little review of the main game though, I'll spoiler some stuff to not ruin things for Spector or anyone else yet to play
The Good: Really fun dex, first time in ages I've been interested in all the entries and evolutions. Not stupid hard, not a cakewalk. Only a couple times that I felt the level curve left me behind playing normally and its very easy to grind if you want. Good atmosphere and consistent art style that feels unique. Early game in particular has good spooky stuff like disappearing NPCs and random changes when you go down the right/wrong alley. Lots of little details, I love a game where every tv you check has something new. The cast does a good job of being likable/unlikable in their screen time, if anything some could have used some more; feels like it would have been easy to give you a phone and let you call Oak/Summer/Max etc and have random chats for more character and world building.
The Bad: Teases choices the matter and fails to deliver. Gives you The Gun then makes all the times you can use it meaningless. You can kill some randoms that you dont know, but none of the actual people you might want to kill, they all have bullshit escapes. Except the one time where no matter what you choose, rocks fall and kill the guy and the NPCs all accuse you of murdering him (which leads to the 3rd E4 member trying to kill you). Similarly a lot of your yes/no dialogue is literally meaningless especially late game, I'm not asking for branching paths, but Yes/No get identical dialogue responses at which point why bother. It also has things happen (the masked guy in the Luna building, Bill implying something happens to Max, etc) and then no pay off. Maybe the post game brings those threads back but its still poor form.

The Bad (subjective): I'm not a big fan of Saffron and a lot of the second half of the game. The League being corrupt and evil and a bunch of gore and edge is much more boring and generic premise. A lot of the random spooky stuff in the early game like people disappearing after you talk to them or buildings being weird is dropped in favour of regular old murder. Its not helped that the top half of the map has more weird and whimsical stuff like the bug cultists, luna family, pumpkin patch etc and then after saffron you just have the grimdark beast tamers and corpse looters for a while. Plus introducing your mother then killing her to get cheap heat on bruno, same with killing oak and making summer estranged from you. None of that made me more engaged, it just felt like babby first dark fanfiction.
I feel like there are the bones for the game where you're still in a haunted, possibly doomed and on its last legs Kanto but still having an adventure with your friend that didn't resort to the low hanging fruit of making the league and various characters like Lance evil and I probably would have liked that game more.

Still I'm enjoying it overall, solid B+ for now. Will see if the postgame changes my mind one way or the other.

You can get Lunala by beating every trainers in the Saffron Stadium, then you need to go to the house Route 26 and someone will ask you to trade a Swablu for Lunnala
When you start the Abyss, make sure to replace one of your pokemon with a shitmon, this is very important or you're going to regret it later.
The "7" island is just a level 100 superboss fight, I personally skipped it because I didn't want to overlevel my team for the rest of the game and it's just an easter egg fight, there is really nothing to do here

Planning a dragon run in reborn with the starter password, axew or deino? Deino evolves pretty late, which helps balance the difficulty.
i don't want to make the game too easy and i think noibat will be my only other pokemon for the first few gyms until I get altaria or the event egg.

axew evolves at level 38 and 48, and it isn't a pseudo so it won't be too broken. personally I'd go for that one
if you care about availability then you get deino after getting rock climb (after beating Amaria (badge 16)), but axew is obtainable way earlier when you get the gem keys from Luna's gym (badge 9) and going back to The Underroot
but if you use the monodragon password you can get axew after your 2nd badge

didn't lose anyone because I used wide guard to force the AI to use single target moves, then spammed rage powder so the PULSE mime would use entrainment on scovillain and make my whole team immune to everything so long as scovillain was on the field
had to retry it because I forgot to bring a strong fairy type and whimsicott couldn't kill it before scovillain ran out of PP, and mr. mime started using HP healing moves that outhealed my damage

Its another one of those annoying forest areas that's a pain to navigate, with lots of rubble and dead ends. But it has a poison twist, a good field for me.
Ace is here too, she kind of reminds me of Karen from rejuv. Randomly shows up, spouts some nonsense, and has some kind of magical powers. But Ace is a lot less crazy at least.
