How come TCGplayer sellers offer so many cards for just a few cents each? The same ones at card shows or card shops are way more expensive.

need somewhere to vent abt the deceptive practices of a gacha. too embarassed to admit i fell for it to anyone who knows me. tldr they advertised 200% bonus play credit on your first deposit but then after the transaction goes through, tell you the bonus play credit is unlocked through using your real credit for play, at a rate of 2 percent. I wasn't allowed to just play everything at once. This means you have to play 50X worth the bonus amount to unlock it, which is practically impossible to do with the amount you deposited, since of course you're most likely to be losing 40-50% of your deposit every play. I was fortunate enough to only lose a hundred bucks on this and I'm not really mad about that, but I do really think this should be categorized as a type of fraud and more than ever I want some sort of rules to be created for online gambling. For fucks sake, I'm in Vegas for work trips every month and still I have never felt this taken advantage of in any of their casinos ever. I will be okay but I can only imagine the gambling addicts out there that will not.

I bought a WOTC card on saturday. £2. I did forget where a table was that had a load of e reader cards, and there was a cool pre release card I saw, but walked away before buying it. I'm aiming for 3 cardshows next year. In the same places I went this year, but then 1 extra. I didn't do too bad for my 2nd show, came home with money and a decent amount of cards. But didn't remember any of the vendors who I bought cards off.

>>59686136$215 so just $30 more than ungraded so I figured I would pay extra
>>59686176Nice! I’ve been wanting to pick that card up for a while now.I actually just got these from a buddy of mine. I normally wouldn’t spend this much on cards, especially graded ones, but he gave me a pretty good deal at 70% of market value for both since he didn’t feel like dealing with selling them online or taking it to our LGS. Pretty happy with the pickup overall.

If youre a true collector why would you not take profit where possibly selling a few cards could cover what you paid for your entire collection so far? And why would you let these newfag subhumans profit off your hobby instead of long term true collectors like yourself? You are leaving more money to funnel into these investorbros pockets by not being actively involved in the market by selling and taking some share of the pool of money available in the market.
>>59687716Not in the same conditions. The few others NM cards available have white dots or little scratches and are anyway still almost the double than trending price.I could just wait 3-4 months and maybe the prices would normalize, Idk.

Okay next try here in the right section: Hey, I need some advice. I bought this card on its 20th anniversary when it came out. I asked someone in Japan to get it for me and ship it over. The problem is, back then people weren't total turbo-autists about Pokémon yet, so he just shipped it normally. As you can see, the corner has a tiny ding/dent. How would PSA grade something like this? I'm thinking about sending it in.

Fellow Germanon, are you prepared for the rumored 30th drop on the Pokemon Center?
I thought this video was interesting https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCNMyxTmNTIThe guy has basically been working at a printing press for most of his life, even printing Pokemon cards, and even he is surprised when the higher quality card was the fake one. It was interesting to me that he says the entire industry knows that Pokemon cards are printed with the lowest standards possible and even he didnt factor they would be that bad when having to judge which card was real or not.
Made a nice profit selling AliExpress fakes and used them to buy some nice grade 10s Not my problem
>>59701659it's kind of funny because I was immediately able to tell which was fake and I don't even own this card. SARs all have a sort of muted silver look to them and the fake is way too vibrant and reflective looking, especially noticeable in the blue in the background.I do hate how so many Japanese cards get an arch due to the thinner cardstock, but I find the texture and detail way better than English
>>59701659>Pokemon cards are printed with the lowest standards possibleThen what is weiss schwartz?
>>59701701I wonder when they started skimping out. Vintage holos don't have this problem.
>>59701659>ojiisan immediately starts wrecking the real one and laughing at it’s flimsiness Pokemon cards really are kind of flimsy, I guess that makes them damage more easily and increase the price of older clean copies but I hope he didn’t BTFO her Dragonite too bad lel

>>59701739When they found out people were retarded enough to pay obscene amounts of money to put every single card in a thick plastic slab
>>59702053I just think they’re neat :^)
Thoughts on buying super low priced slabs in 10s and 9s on ebay? I saw a reddit post of a Lucario card at a 8 iirc being sold for under market value at an auction. Was wondering if that's a good idea to flip cards or if auctions pump up at the last minute for under market value cards.
I thought we all universally agreed grading is a scam
>>59702126Not sure if this is still the case, but for some time, you could get graded 8s and 9s for less than their raw “near mint” (they were never near mint) counterparts. No idea how this scenario came to be. Brainbroken gamblers buying up any decent raw cards and hoping for a 10; newfriends totally unacquainted with how grading actually works thinking any clean copy is guaranteed a 10; some third example I can’t think of. Whatever the case, for a while, there was no reason NOT to buy a highly graded card instead over its ungraded counterpart. Cheaper and almost always in better condition. Plus you could buy cards graded by the several dozen no-name grading companies for an even greater discount. This is ultimately how I filled the last few slots in my jungle and fossil 1st ed binder.
>>59702095No, you don't just think they are neat. You're actively shaming people because you need to feel better about overspending on an identical card for clout. People don't post their cards enough on this general as is, and it is because of retards like you. I'm sure girls will get all hot and bothered by your little 1st ed. stamp bozo
