Man I hated this song in the movie, even as it kid it felt like it was ruining the dramatic moment. As an adult, I dislike it even more cause in the OG jap dub, it isn't even explicitly written as an anti-war movie, whereas they really push it forward in the english dub and through this song

Becuase the westoid version erased half of mewtwo’s backstory, removed the foreshadowing for Ash reviving from being turned to stone, and wrote out mew’s eugenism , so the story isn’t about Mewtwo having legitimate grievance against humans, “non-clones” and the world as a whole. Its about Mewtwo chimping out for seemingly little reason and Mew doing fuck all except bouncing around like a faggot

The real question should be why the audience score is high and that’s because the only people who watched it wee already Pokémonfans and Pokemon fans are infamous slop eaters and for all the faults of the westoid version, it’s infinitely better than nearly anything Pokemon related within the last 15 or so years

Everyone in the audience already knew Mewtwo's backstory from the games, anime, and I bet there were a few cards that had flavor text about it, though I forget. Critics wouldn't know, but 99%+ of kids knew why he was mad.
